Unbelievable's been making excellent points and its pretty much the stuff i've been saying for months. You've been saying stuff like "Darren Bent MKII" which is complete and utter s****. I said the same thing, and I stand by it.. Could you link me to all of Darren Bent's spectacular goals please, cheers. You get more points for spectacular goals do you? Bent has scored 179 career goals at the age of 29. Hardly an insult to compare Cisse to him, seeing as they are quite similar players (poacher types who are best as a lone forward, and don't contribute much to general play). Eh? You're claiming they're almost the same player, I'm making the point that Bent doesn't score goals from nothing like Cisse, what the f*** do points have to do with anything? I don't see the relevance of Cisse's penchant for the spectacular as a reason to dismiss him being comparable to Bent. I haven't said they're the same player, I've argued they are similar, even though there are differences, for example Cisse scoring more spectacular goals from outside of the box, and Bent being more physical in taking on defenders. Doesn't change the fact they are essentially both poachers who are most suited to playing as a lone forward, spearheading the attack and not very good at bringing others into play. It's unbelievable that you have to explain this. It could be avoided if people actually described what they mean to begin with, like saying "has similarities to Bent" instead of saying stuff like "Bent MKII"..

Well obviously we see the term MKII differently, I certainly didn't take that to mean only comparable to, I took it to mean the new Darren Bent. They have similarities yes, but being a pure poacher and being a poacher who can also score goals from anywhere on the pitch out of nothing are two different prospects overall.

You're claiming Bent and Cisse are basically the same player (as in Bent Mark II). I'm making the point that Bent doesn't score goals from nothing like Cisse and so has less to his game (he's purely a poacher). What on earth do points have to do with anything?

I'm with you on this one, we've got loads of time yet to bring players in, just like we did at this time last year and we weren't left dissapointed, were we? Well you've certainly changed my mind. I definitely agree we should assume that because we didn't sign a striker last summer we won't sign one this time. After all history has taught us that in Football what happens in the previous season will always be repeated. Let's all enjoy being as depressing as fuck from here on out Really enjoying playing sarcastaball with you by the way
  5. Haha, please let this be true

Seriously, if we buy nobody of similar or better quality in attack by the start of the season then look back at players like Wolfswinkel. But as of now he's hardly someone we absolutely had to be in for.

If his minutes per goal ratio from last season had continued through this season he'd have scored 40 goals in the Premier League alone. But then nobody on planet earth could have ever kept up the form Cisse had in his first half season here. I don't disagree that he's under performed this season (partly down to the team/pardew and partly down to himself), but I don't think its worth making comparisons with his first half season, because its totally unrealistic.

Perhaps the thousands are being a bit naïve. Playing to Cisse’s strengths isn’t that simple a matter. Well we don't have to play exactly to his strengths, but it would certainly help if we didn't play to the complete opposite of his strengths.
  12. Maybe he believed he actually didn't need to be replaced? Most decisions have at least some selfish aspects to them but I don't think its fair to claim he didn't care about Newcastle. I'm sure if he didn't he would have had a number of options, no doubt lots of clubs would be very interested in a striker who'd just scored 28 goals in 51 games.
  13. Same here, I don't think we're going to make any serious progress as a squad, it'll be more of the same. I also don't have any faith in Pardew organising the team into anything with a particular style. Might just go and throw myself under a bus More of the same quality as Yanga-Mbiwa, Sissoko, Debuchy and Goufrran sounds good to me. I agree on Pardew of course but players we sign this window can still be here when he's sacked so good signings will still excite me for the future.

    José Mourinho

He's definitely better suited to Pardew.

This is a completely baffling point of view TBH. If we're going to assume that nobody who had a bad season this year can improve then we may as well sell everyone. I can see a lot of players doing a lot better next season. Cabaye, Tiote, Ben Arfa, S Taylor and Marveaux just to name a few. I don't think Cisse, Jonas or Shola will improve though. I just don't see any reason to put Cisse in that category at all. He's clearly an absolute top goalscorer and has shown it throughout his career. We're lucky to have him TBH, I just want to get the team functioning better and watch him score the goals. I hope you are right. Eight goals and only three (!) assists last Premiership season in 36 games says something else. Obviously I hope that I am wrong in terms of next season. Yeah he scored 8 league goals in 36 games last season. While he scored 50 goals in the 79 league games he played (Bundesliga and Premier League) before last season. Which one would you say is the odd one out and which one is more suggestive of its true ability?
  16. I live in hope that a fresh start and less pressure will see him loosen the reigns a bit, especially in the second half of games, but I'm not expecting much.
  17. To be honest with or without an Andy Carroll type with Pardew in charge any decent midfield will be ruined, played too deep and bypassed.
  18. I like Marveaux a lot and would find it very difficult to leave him out of any midfield I picked. Also it can be argued the midfield people are suggesting with doesn't have the right combination of abilities you'd want in a midfield 3 (though its also arguable that if setup correctly they have all shown most of the abilities required in the past) But "it lacks everything"?, not even close It's really silly tbf. Yeah but I do try to be nice.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

Not quite, but we need width and he doesn't provide it, and under the current manager we need players that will suit his style ultimately. I think a few people need to take their blinkers off regarding Ben Arfa, I don't think he does anywhere near enough over 90 minutes with or without the ball That's the last thing we need. We need Pardew to adapt to the players he has not adapt our squad to a shit manager. If he can't adapt then ultimately he'll be sacked, and because we didn't give him control over player recruitment we'll still have good players at the club for the next man who comes in.
  21. Meaning we should spend £15m on an injury prone scruff or? He isn't injury prone. Even based on his West Ham form Carroll would absolutely stroll into our side and look bloody good in it. He managed 24 games last season, he might not end up being injury prone but that certainly has to be a concern. Also I'm sure he'd look good in Pardews side, hoof the ball up to Carroll, we could win games without the need to play any Football at all. Carroll can be an effective player and with the right manager in charge, who isn't just going to use him up front on his own waiting for long balls every single game, I'd gladly have him here. But not for £15m and not under Pardew.
  22. Teasy

    Alan Pardew

Its impossible for our system to work like your example because our manager doesn't decide on signings (which is a very good thing considering our manager). The likes of Carr can look into a player as much as they want but no amount of research will make that player fit the way we play if him and our manager see Football in a fundamentally different way.
  23. Teasy

    Alan Pardew

At least we know there's no chance of that happening. We'll continue to make good signings even with Pardew and when he does go we won't have to clear out his shit. Its pretty horrendous to consider another season of Pardews soul sucking shitness, but the fact he can't directly influence our signings is one big plus point.
  24. Teasy

    Alan Pardew

If they want stability they should bring in a good manager now and they can have some stability. Keeping Pardew only delays the inevitable and prevents stability, because lets face it he wont last another season, he's completely inept.
