He had every choice, he made a choice and that was the security of a massive contract.

Yep Barton could have been a good squad player for the next 4 years, I'd have liked him to stay as cover if things could have been resolved (but not even at £55k never mind £75k).
-
I think we've spent all summer trying to extract a couple of million for him, unfortunately nobodies going to pay money for a player like Barton. Did we? It wasn't that he was up for sale for the whole transfer window. The time he was placed on the transfer list he was always for free. We haven't offered him a new contract since January. I really doubt that we wanted him to stay right up until the point we placed him on the transfer list and just decided it would be for free. It was probably made known unofficially for a while that he was available, and was made clear to us that nobody would pay a fee for a player like him especially when he'd be asking for a monster wage.

I'm sure he'd have preferred to stay here then go to QPR like. He'd probably have accepted £65k on the same length of contract, but no way on earth is the lad going to accept 40k or less here when there's someone willing to pay him £75k. I know he's done his best to sound like the loveliest lad going that adores Newcastle United but that's just never going to happen.

Imo he would have taken half of it here if he was offered it today. Good one You are joking yeah?

Stop it, you're becoming embarrassing. That ship sailed months ago.

drama to enjoy?? as if we are not the most dramatic club in EPL None of those drama's came from Mr Barton did they?
-
If was fairly obvious that he only said that because he wasn't getting any offers..

I thought the deadline to register a player for Saturday was today at 12? So is the deadline for Sunday tomorrow?

this. Don't believe the(his) hype

I don't think that's so much about exploiting the opposition as playing it safe against certain opposition. You don't try to play pretty Football from the back against teams that are closing you down at every turn and jumping into tackles against you unless you're: A Barca or B: want to lose the game. If we play a team similar or inferior to us who try to play Football and we still played long ball then I've be worried. Lets see how we handle Fulham, at home we should always be looking to play good Football against a team like that.
-
Yeah, I'd go with that..... Personally I think Obertan deserves the chance to start a game in his normal position.
-
So far we've played Arsenal, Sunderland away and Scunthorpe away. None of those games are conducive to playing good Football (you don't try to outplay Arsenal unless you want a kicking and the other two are going to be scrappy games). I wouldn't judge the kind of Football we want to play just yet.
-
True. Who said that? I've seen a number of people whinging about these two leaving without being replaced. Have to say I'm even more excited at the prospect of Cabaye & Marveaux than those two. Going to be much better to watch. Generally speaking, the posters citing nolan goal record as a major loss know nothing about the dynamics of a football game. Their opinions are worth ignoring.

Samuel will destroy Arsenal.
-
Jesus I know you said so far, but common man he's played about 100 mins so far in his Newcastle career. He's scored goals where ever he's been, he'll score goals here.

Yeah "name your price", always the best way to do a deal..

Coloccini's invincible.

Oh dear, you appear to have not been able to complete the job and read the following sentence. He's got no interest in that, just wants to pick out a single sentence to moan about. As to Kevin Nolan, this is predictable. Considering how sophisicated () those West Ham fans are you'd have thought they'd have realised what kind of player Nolan is before they signed him.
-
The most paranoid scenario of all Fixed that for ya.

You'd have thought we'd have checked that bit out first. Who says we didnt like? Seems pretty reasonable to assume we were told that while we werent those players first choice they would sign for us if certain other clubs didnt come in. But those clubs did come in (Arsenal and PSG). I mean are you saying that we should only have made bids for players that we're absolutely sure we could get? Why throw big money bids at players you know you've got no hope of signing?? Who would do a thing like that? But that's the point your repeatedly missing, theres nothing to say we didnt have a chance of signing them.

There's nowt wrong with the first offer being a little bit on the low side as long as we're prepared to up the bid.
-
I doubt he's being exact when he says half like (7.5m euros). Its been reported we were preparing to bid 8m euros for him so it would seem this confirms that rumour. I wonder how much more they're looking for?
