Too many contingencies..Selling Carroll only if we could find a replacement..With Liverpool paying a stunning £35 mill for him, it's likely that they did not accept such a solution.. Abramovich paid for Carroll tbh. Liverpool fans always say this but it still doesn't make sense. Just because Liverpool wanted Carroll + £15m doesn't mean 'Chelsea paid for Carroll' as I always hear. Liverpool still had to fork out £35m which could have gone anywhere they wanted. The 'Chelsea paid for Carroll' is just a way to avoid admitting the extortionate fee paid. Agreed, its nonesense to be honest. Its not like Chelsea were going to only give Liverpool £15m if they didn't buy Carroll so it didn't matter what they paid. If they'd gotten Carroll for £20m they'd have gotten £30m plus Carroll, if they hadn't bought Carroll they'd have had £50m to spend on a better player. Like you say its an excuse.

We won't have paid all of the contract, but probably most of it and given that he was never going to play, something was better than nothing. We might have agreed some kind of 'free with add-ons' but suspect we'll never know exactly. Either way, that's something like £15m spunked on this waster. Another consideration is the desire to rid the squad of higher earners so that the lower earners don't uise others as an argument for a new contract. I can see us paying some of it yeah, just not all like NUFC.com have apparently claimed. I'd hope that if he's gone there for free we've included clauses like you say. Sell on clause and clauses for goals. Still probably never see a penny though given the fact he's fucking shit.

I agree. Though think you might be rating some other Premier League teams too highly. I think players of Loven/Shola's quality get games for plenty of Premier League sides.
-
Yeah pitty Ameobi will play a part for definite
-
It is really, I mean its 7 goals in 29 games, a pretty awful record. Shola could score 7 in 29, probably more. His goals to games ratio would say otherwise. Ameobi got 9 in 30 last season didn't he? Which is a better goals to games ratio. Fair enough over their whole careers Ameobi's record is much worse, but these days they're of pretty similar quality.

Who's the 3-4 outgoing after Enrique?
-
Sounds like it is permanent, looks like we may have paid up his contract. Who's saying that? I seriously doubt it, part of it maybe. nufc.com Ah right. Like I said I'd be amazed if it were true so I'd need a better source than NUFC.com who I don't believe at the best of times. I just don't see any reason at all for us give a player away for free and pay his entire contract so he can go away and play for another team. Where's the advantage to us in that deal?
-
Yep he's 5th choice at best now and that's without a new striker, he won't get the 29 games he needs to score 7 goals this season.

Sounds unlikely, where from?

I doubt Punk would be sad enough to even consider the Carling Cup like Anyway Pardew says 6 weeks at the most and I believe him implicitly so that's 7 games at the most.
-
I was only having a go because I geniunely thought you were saying you thought he'd be out for 7-8 Premiership games. I didn't post it knowing what you meant but just trying to be a dick. Anyway whatever, yeah he'll probably be out for 7 games.
-
I preferred your previous personality.
-
What's my problem? I asked you if you were including the Carling Cup in which case I would have made a mistake but instead of just saying yes you persist in trying to tell me dates and fixtures ect. I know what date it is and I know when the fixtures are. Don't take your bad mood out of me mate..
-
Are you just ignoring the end of my post or what? Obviously you are I suppose..
-
You recon he'll be out for 2 and a half months now then? What? Six weeks isn't far off the end of September. Check the fixture list. Our seventh game of the season is 7 and a half weeks from now and our eight game is 9 and a half weeks.. Or are you including the Carling Cup?

Pitty you couldn't use that psychic ability to convince Lovenkrands to go
-
How many more up for sale? Is that cunt for real? Its Lovenkrands

Do you think Nasri and Fabregas will play? Neither, 100%. Hmm, tempted to put a bet on in that case. I know I'll get some stick for this, saying this on here particularly, but I wouldn't put a bet on you winning. Draw to me seems the sensible option or an Arsenal win. I've had Arsenal DNB on a couple of accumulators. I think you'll see good performances from Ramsey and Gervinho in particular and the defence should be as good as it can get if Vermaelen is fit. I doubt you'll get stick for that. But I think 3/1 is pretty good odds for a Newcastle win with the likes of Nasri, Fabregas, Diaby, Wilshere and Van Persie all likely missing. To me evens looks like poor odds for an Arsenal win looking at the team you just posted. I suppose there is the likleyhood of a draw as you say.. But my bet will be matched with a free one if I lose so..

This just typifies the ultra pessemistic attitude on here like I agree we're better off playing the game now then postponing it though. I'm a little pessimistic, but not an ultra pessimist. I thought that was a pretty realistic comparison of what is to be expected from our transfers tbh. On Saturday, we will be reeling from the loss of Enrique, they will be without Cesc and Nasri. They will be hurting more than us. Their loss is much more significant than ours. I agree this is a better time to play them then say three weeks from now. Just thought it was funny that you assume Arsenal will get everyone they're linked with while we'll end up with only Wayne Bridge
