  1. Jonas had an awful first half, but a good second half, some very good breaks which took pressure off us and almost created a goal (had our own player not stopped Jonas's ball going through to Guthrie).
  2. They would not have handed him a contract if there were plans to sign a winger in January, would they? Right wing was the last remaining first team spot. Do you honestly believe they will invest money in signings without selling first? When was the last time we did that? We need players now, rejecting a player the manager wants (especially one on such a favourable contract) in order to wait until January would be a terrible idea, unless the player they were after was pretty special. I didn't say they'd invest any money in January by the way, I've always doubted we would. What I didn't expect is for us to bring in a player in a position we needed to fill as soon as possible, which is a very positive move IMO.
  3. That signing only adds more evidence that there is no transfer kitty and Llambias was just running his mouth again. Right wing was one of our biggest priorities, arguably the biggest and it's been filled by an out of contract player turned down by Sheff Utd. It may have been opportunism but it seems more likely we're scraping the bottom of the barrel. That's that spot sealed for the rest of the season. Looking at the rest of the squad, there's nowhere where you can see them spending a million without selling first. If there was anywhere to spend that money it was right wing and they haven't done it. There's nothing in the kitty. Signing a good Championship winger, or a young up and coming winger would have been in keeping with the policy Llambias said he's operating. His exact words were 16 - 22 year olds I believe. It doesn't add any evidence. The transfer window isn't even open, so if we want a player for a problem position now then its a free or an emergency loan, there are no other options. By the way, Sheffield United passed up the chance to sign him because his agent wanted a £75k fee to for them to sign the player on a loan for 6 months. Clearly by there managers words they did actually want to sign him on a free.
  4. Maybe when we are behind and desperately need a goal it stands a chance. But yes even i'd be surprised if he went that attacking from the kick off. Arguably our most attacking and best team though. The chance of Hughton ever willingly picking a team without Smith/Butt/Harewood and with nobody out of position is ZERO. Besides isnt Jonas a doubt? I'm fairly sure he was passed fit already.
  5. Keanes a fucking idiot as usual The defenders/keeper made a mistake, so fuck it happens numerous times in every game and at least its an honest mistake.. To say that we should ignore the cheat and blame the people who allowed him to be in a position to cheat is absolutely bizarre logic.
  6. I'd love to be involved in this though at the moment there's no way I could find £1500. All my savings are tied up in Marks and Spencer shares. I'm still looking forward to reading the full plans though and hope it comes off. If it does I can hopefully get a share in a year or so. Also on the subject of interest. Why not have an option for people to opt out? It might sound insane, but as long as I know my investment is safe personally I'd be prepared to forgo any interest in order to save costs and provide more money to run things (I'm sure I could live without the £30 a year interest or whatever it'd be). No idea how many others would but it wouldn't hurt to have the option (like one of those "tick here to donate a certain percentage on top of your payment to charity" buttons you get on some websites).
  7. Can't think of many other products of our youth team that have won 2 Premier League titles and played in the Champions league......and we keep Andy O'Brian & Nikos Dabizas?! There's bound to be some who have won Championship titles and that's at or above the quality of the "Premier League" title you're referring too Also both O'Brien and Dabizas played in the Champions League.
  8. Should have just typed those words into Google or any other search engine and you'd have found out the song and who it was by straight away
  9. Do you think 16 games is enough time the decide that he's out of his depth though? Especially considering they're a pretty small club on a very low budget who have come up from League Two to the Championship in only two seasons? Surely their board should have been expecting a relegation battle this year. If they're really ambitious and believe they can get someone better then fair enough, but doing something because of ambition doesn't necessarily make it the right decision.

Oh shut the f*** up Parky. God forbid something positive happening for once. He's been s*** 97% of the time he has been here. Christ you're dull. He's been shit lately, but to Parky that has to be exaggerated to 97% (97% where the fuck does that even come from??) of his entire time here. Ok, make it 92%... 64.87% overall IMO, there's no way we'll agree on this one.

I'm actually quite positive about our finances if we go up. Wage bill will be around 35M which is respectable. Yes but the squad costing us around £35 million is nowhere near good enough for the Premiership. Some of that £35m should overlap however. While we certainly need to add some quality new players another important part of improving the squad should be replacing players with better ones, which won't always end up with an increased wage bill.

Once Geremi and Butt go and we get a new shirt sponsor (because we were bringing in no cash per season from sponsorship due to Shepherd spending it all up front) we could be in £30m profit if we go straight back up this season. That's without this whole whatever@St James Park thing.
  17. There's playing games and then there's doing well, no idea how well any of them are doing (well apart from Given and Owen doing the usual). We'd probably have to ask the fans of each team to be honest.

Strange that people seem to have the idea that IF Sports Direct Sponsored St James' Park that would mean Ashley Sponsoring it with his own money. Ashley owns a percentage of Sports Direct, its not like their advertising budget comes out of Ashley's pocket..

guess u didn't see the time, he was just pointing at danny simpson to track someone, was just neglecting who he was marking! basic stuff Give me the time in the game and I'll watch it Come one one defensive mistake from a midfielder equals lack of effort or disgraceful defending? He also chased the ball down at every opportunity and tracked back to nick the ball away from opposition players on more then a couple of occasions.

I don't say this often but you must have been watching another game. He was crap no doubt in the first half and still frustrating in the second. But to say he didn't put in effort defensively is just nonsense.

Yeah - can't argue really but he gives us an outlet/option that commits the oppo defence. They can't ignore him....maybe in a weird way he's a holding midfielder. I really don't mind when he's on the pitch. A winger is ultimately judged on his assists and goals. He offers us neither. So does that mean we should play Nicky Butt in his place? Both of then don't score or create goals therefore ultimately they both offer the same to the team yes? Give over man. What does Jonas really offer to the team? He runs at defenders and that is it. If, and its a big if, he gets past them without falling on his arse over a daisy he then passes to people who aren't anywhere near the ball or are surrounded by opposition, while someone who is free is screaming for the pass or he takes a shot that ends up somewhere in the middle of the leazes end. Unfortunately, at present, we have no-one to take his place so he is getting his by default. At the moment he offers very little. Apart from the second half today when he harried the opposition and helped to give them less time on the ball. Something that showed when Mr Lazy replaced him, shortly followed by us being completely under the cosh. Obviously I would still hope he can get back to the player that seemed to have the ball attached to his feat with string at times last season and early this season. A player that would often go past his man and drive us forward, even if he did often end up wasting the chance he always took pressure off the team and often got us freekicks and corners. Either way I stick by my opinion that you can't simply judge a player 100% on assists and goals, that's what you'd do if you were playing a very basic Football Management game not real Football. Its not basic Football Management games where the problems lie, its basic football with Jonas. Forget about assists and goals. If he would just pass the ball to players in space, or play the simple pass instead of trying to be Mr Fantastic, or just keep his head then you can say he is a decent footballer. I watched him last season at home and away, and have seen him this season too, and all that has been glaringly obivious is that he cannot do the simple things, has no awareness as to where his team-mates are and thinks that beating a load of opposition and then crumpling in a heap in front of the referee means more than just playing a simple ball that gets to a team-mate. I agree, he always seems to try too hard to do something special and if he would more simple passing most of the time he could relax into the game and his form would probably improve a lot. I'd assume our manager would be telling him that, though I see no evidence of it. Like I said hopefully he can get over this and bad form and start offering something positive to the team again, he's not suddenly going to start scoring goals or start firing great crosses in. But we can hope that he at least gets back to the player who could go past a player or two and hold on to the ball.
