    RIP sale thread.

We are currently wanting rid of one... Way more money than sense, we need a wealthy man/group with a level head and an fantastic brain for business. No one with a fantastic brain for business would pay £100m for NUFC, therein lies the problem. Don't agree, as long as its £100m all in its a good deal for anyone with a decent head for business and an idea about Football.

I know what you mean, though there are more indirect ways of helping the team, such as pushing the opposition back and creating space for your team mates which he does far better then any player we currently have. Obviously he's not a hold up player like Ranger so he's never going to help the team in that way.

Think this is a bit harsh. He was out of the game a bit before coming to us, I think he did well in a very tough situation and out shone Owen for goals from January onwards. He 'shone' did he? Thought he was lacking in the tackling, tracking back, first touch and timing of runs department. The first two will come if the squad is as tight as Hughton reckons, the other two matter less now. Having seen him, i wouldnt have wanted to keep him if we had stayed up. Would you? In comparison to the rest yes he did. If we'd stayed up I'd be keeping him as backup, well before I tried to keep Owen, Viduka or Ameobi. He was fucking shit in midfield for us. When he played up front, he took his chances well but did very little else. Nile Ranger did more for the team last night up top than Lovenkrands ever managed. Dont get me wrong, think its a good signing for this league but he made fuck all impact on our league position last season. You shouldn't compare what one player did in a Championship game to another in the Premiership though. He should never play in midfield (unless the other option is Geremi), up front he not only scored a few goals but created space for other players with his movement and pace. Like I said, at best a competent Premiership player with pretty much one really good talent (pace), certainly nothing to shout about in that league. But in a league were Ameobi is god he's got the potential to be top class.

    RIP sale thread.

Are we really now supposed to believe Ashley is a generous guy who will ignore a real offer from someone else to allow his mate to come up with the money? He'd hit Moat with a shovel and bury him in the center circle if it meant getting £100m for the club.

Racism has no place on this forum. Watch it Dave, you better pretend you don't find his voice funny or you're a horrible monstrous racist
  7. Shearer wouldn't be my absolute first choice but he'd be well ahead of any other realistic choice. We've done well so far under Hughton due to the horrendous quality of this league. But IMO we'd be much better off under Shearer, especially long term.
  8. I only have access to the last five tables but out of those only twice would 90 points not have won the league (04-05 when Sunderland got 94 and 05-06 when Reading got 106 points), 90 points was good enough for automatic promotion on all five occasions (usually something in the low to mid 80's is good enough).
  9. Of those that have gone, the only ones that have left a real gap IMO are Bassong and to a lesser extent Beye. It would have been good to have kept Edgar as well, as cover for the back four, but barring bad luck with injuries, this squad looks well good enough to secure promotion. Agreed. Of course we could always have been stronger, but I think a young centre-back to come in on loan as cover for Taylor & Coloccini and we're sorted for the title. GKs - Harper, Krul RBs - Simpson, R.Taylor, Geremi LBs - Enrique, Kadar CBs - Taylor, Coloccini, Simpson, Loan CB, Kadar RMs - R.Taylor, Lua Lua, Geremi, Guthrie, Jonas LMs - Jonas, Lovenkrands, Lua Lua CMs - Barton, Butt, Geremi, Guthrie, Nolan, Smith CFs - Ameobi, Lovenkrands, Carroll, Ranger, Smith, Nolan I'd tip that for 90+ points in this division easily. only 77 points to go I know fucking easy eh, at the moment we're on track for 120 points
  10. More like £30m from what I can see, with the massive majority of that being from this summer.
  11. But what wages do those three command, and some others besides? I'd hazard a guess we have the highest wagebill in the Championship. Just as well we also have the best supporters eh! We better get promoted if Ashley doesn't sell us. Actually, we better get promoted anyway. We've probably still got one of the highest wage bills in the Premiership never mind the Championship. I shouldn't laugh, its really not funny EDIT: I bet its not far off, I mean I'm sure most Premiership clubs wage bills will have risen since they were last reported, but I bet we're still easily in the top 10.

    RIP sale thread.

oldtype There's no way we can cover the losses this club will make in the Championship season after season by continually selling players without considerably dropping the clubs value. Which isn't going to get Ashley this real price you're suggesting he's after. I agree with your first paragraph about him not being prepared to put anymore money in, I think that's been clear for a while, but not the rest.
  13. 17 since Ranger has instantly become a senior player
  14. Where can I download them? You can look at a decent write up on the last few accounts at http://www.nufc-finances.org.uk/ Or pay £1 to download the full accounts at companies house website.
  15. Faye and Taylor were from Premiership clubs. Taylor wasnt signed on the final day of the january transfer window. Yes he was, the signing was announced on the 2nd of Febuary. It was all over the place long before that. Regardless it was confirmed before the window closed so its irrelevant to the initial point. As far as I remember the actual announcement came after the the 5pm deadline. There was a lot of unofficial info about it before that but we've also heard lots of names mentioned today unofficially. Having said that I'm definitely not certain we'll here about any late deals today, hopefully.
  16. Why is it a shit window for Newcastle? - for what its worth, I think we did well to keep certain players and the addition of Lovendranks is very good. Making money and reducing the huge debt is very important and our squad is still capable (although thin) to win this league. Huddersfield before the substitutions was a decent indication that our squad is fucked if we hit an injury crisis. That's been the case for the last five or so years. Why's it so different now? Come on, man. If the squad was thin last year, what is it this year? Thin. But we're competing at a much lower level. We played Matty Pattison in the Premier League. Matty Pattison, man. Matty Pattison. See, in my opinion the level doesn't matter. Fatigue is fatigue. Players need to rest occasionally, and we're not in much of a position to give players time to recuperate. It's been a great start to the season, but the games are going to catch up to us. Of course the level matters, it means that players who weren't good enough as cover in the Premiership are now good enough as cover.
  17. Just hoping we can tread water until January. Already back in denial. I know its fucking shit treading water at the top of the league like
  18. Faye and Taylor were from Premiership clubs. Taylor wasnt signed on the final day of the january transfer window. Yes he was, the signing was announced on the 2nd of Febuary.
  19. The only other thing that we can be happy about is that there are no more players out (that we know of yet). Stupid mistake though - the squad is nowhere near strong enough and now that another botched up window has shut under Ashley we can expect the inevitable injury crisis. Perhaps now we'll find out what has happened the the cash from the summer transfers, and also the money that was due from Milner and Given's sales. For the last time its gone on the fact we make massively less money then we spend on running the club, get it into your head man!
  20. On the plus side we've saved two months of his wages
  21. Faye and Taylor were from Premiership clubs.

I couldn't give two f***s quite frankly. I know, me either. I'm just wondering what changed, we wouldn't have offered him more wages. You mean from when we let him go? I'm sure we only let him go because Ashley wasn't prepared to offer any players new contracts at that stage and Lovenkrands wasn't prepared to sit around on no wages and wait until he was.

He'll rip this league a new arse hole! One of our two first choice striker for us last season for me so its quite a deal to get him back in the Championship. I'm suprised nobody else in this league went for him (or even some Premiership sides as he's easily good enough) maybe they couldn't afford what we offered him?
  24. Even if we sign nobody we also haven't sold the likes of Taylor, Coloccini, Gutierrez and Carroll like a lot of people thought we would.
  25. shit from what i saw last season. You have to be able to be more specific then just "shit". Where did he play for you? Was he in and out of the team or did he play every game? Was he slow?, bad passer?, lazy?, give us a clue
