Fucking idiots

He was always going to get a chance in a few friendlies given how many games he played for the U21's, he'll never be much more then a bit part player in the full side though.
-
The net value of the club won't have changed. Instead of having (Numbers meaning nothing as I'm completely making them up) £100m worth of players and £80m worth of debt, we'll have £30m worth of players and £10m worth of debt. Unless Ashley trousers the money rather than reducing the debt, of course. He'll not because that would be illegal... ashley can use the money to reduce his debt because he had lent 100m to newcastle PLC which stated in annual report 2008 is it illegal ? I'd assume certain debts will be priority and will have to be paid first, the overdraft for one. Even if that isn't the case and he did manage to pay back some of his loan with it he'd then only put himself in a position were he'd have to loan it back later in the year in order to pay the short fall between the clubs outgoings and incomings.

Like Cajun says that's just not true anymore, it was under Shepherd but hasn't been the case with Ashley.
-
Fuck I hope so, I've always said this league is shit and a lot of people were overestimating it. But it really does feel good to see someone who's seen a lot of this league say something that positive.
-
Yeah I definitely agree with that, I said so in my post, trying to do that just doesn't work at all.
-
Because people talk. The media aren't all completely useless, they don't all guess at everything. If you check out enough sources (and ignore shit like NOTW, Mirror, SUN ect) you'll usually get a decent idea on the kind of wage a player's on, at least the right kind of area anyway.
-
I agree, I love all of these people who magically know how much each player is making per-week, it's laughable. The only people who have any clue are the ones running the books, the player, and his agent. If you're not any of those people you should stop talking before you start acting like you even know. Nobody knows exactly what they're on obviously, but we do have a fairly decent idea IMO. Definitely not close enough to try to count up the squad's wages to get the total wage bill though
-
Yet we signed a few high earners under Ashley but they liked to peddle this myth that we only done this under Shepherd. The main reason why things like that make sense is due to the massive difference in the tax scenarios between here and Spain. Obviously they had to buy players and you can't make every signing a £10k or £20k a week signing. But there's quite a difference between signing players on £40k-£50k a week and £70k. To me that just seems to totally go against what Ashley wanted to achieve. Like I said though I really hope he is on that much.
-
No way the wage bill is under £30m, more like mid to high 40's. I definitely agree with the rest though. yeah by my rough calculations with duff gone some 23m a year has gone off the wage bill since the end of last year so that would leave it in the 40-50m bracket I dunno, I couldn't remember figures for what it was before, so tried counting upwards, as as far as I'm aware, the likes of Rozehnal were on the last wage bill estimate and we know that more have gone out than in since then: I've tried doing that before mate (looking at the first team players basic wages to get the wage bill) and it never works. Like you said it misses quite a few lower paid players and hundreds of other staff. It also misses out bonuses and to be honest those estimates are also quite conservative IMO. The wage bill was £70m from the last accounts, we then sold a few and brought a few in. Even if we assume it stayed at £70m (and most sources claim it actually rose slightly to £72m), that would still put it at roughly £45m now when we remove the players who have gone so far this transfer window.
-
I honestly hope/wish he is on that amount, because when he does go (whether its this season or next) that's even more off the wage bill. But the idea of Mike Ashley (who's main plan at the club seemed to be dropping the wage bill in order to make the club self sustaining) giving a player £70k a week just doesn't click with me.
-
Ok Tooj, how about giving us a run down of what every player at the club is on?
-
Who says we should sell them and bring nobody in? Nobody wants to continue to sell players with no intention to bring in replacements. look at the evidence so far of exits and aquisitions. All I'm saying is what I'd like to see, which is sell him and replace him. Keeping him would be my second choice, obviously in front of selling him and not replacing him. I honestly don't get your point. You're shouting about people being retards and not realising that we're selling players who so far haven't replaced them. But everyone realises that. People are just giving their opinion on what should happen at the club. I mean if we just assume every player that leaves won't be replaced we might as well also assume they're all going to be sold anyway and talk about something else.
-
Yeah ok, forgive me if I don't put any stock in that source though.

Where are some of you getting this idea that Coloccini is one insane wages? Back before we signed him Depor fans said he was on around £25k there, not a surprise considering they were skint. His agent said we were doubling his Depor wages. I'd trust Depor fans and his agent ahead of sensationalist articles in some of the daily rags any day, unless anyone has a better source.
-
His wages aren't the highest at the club, he's on about £50k. I don't agree he's a shocking defender either, I just don't think he's worth keeping on his wages in this league if we can get good money for him. £3M is not good money for a 27 year old current Argie international. A loss is fair enough but that kind of loss is not acceptable IMO.
-
We can if we bring some in.

Sebastien Bassong signs for Tottenham Hotspur, fee undisclosed

it's the way he left that rankles....i want to leave but i'm want all the cash aswell hence i'll whing a lot and only put a transfer request in if absolutely necessary to get my way. sorry to rattle on about this folks but it's really pissed me off with many players. For me I really can't fault any player who wanted to leave and moaned about it tbh. I completely blame the owner as the whole summer has been a ridiculously unstable time and no one including the players have known what the hell has been going on. This situation coupled along with relegation would have been too much for many to take. It is especially hard for me to be mad at Bassong because he was one of very few who always did his best and gave a good account of himself. The club being a shambles at the minute doesn't excuse him from being an underhanded little cretin. He should have been straight with everyone, put in a transfer request and shut his mouth. To be honest if he really refused to play we should have refused to pay his loyalty bonus (even though it was probably only a hundred thousand or so). -
£3m is ridiculous, not a chance we'll sell for that. No problem with him going if its for the right money though, bring in Campbell and some backup and we'll be a stronger side with more money in and a smaller wage bill.

Were people really hoping for him to be shit? We got a great deal for him, that should be enough. -
Matty, any idea if there's a full size version of that pic, I've love to have that as my desktop image
