Any fee we might get for the absolute shite we have on our books will likely go directly to the player himself in lieu of loyalty payments/shortfall in earnings, etc. Getting them off the books is what is important. Maybe for some players (the ones we have to let go for £1m or less), but not all of them.
-
Well I'd like to believe the bids accepted bit, and most of the rest is pretty realistic (Martins and Coloccini's wage and £12m for both), as well as wanting to get rid of at least 12 players (hopefully anyway because there's at least that many wasters on high wages).. But the £30m wage figure smells of shit to me, no way on earth can we get it that low this season. Even if we could actually get rid of that number of players (15-16) we'd be left with a side not even good enough to compete in the Championship and no room to add new players. Also its the NOTW so I can't believe a word they say anyway..

You mean like if they played it on grass?, that would be awesome!

Keeping this lot of cowardly losers together is suicide and to be honest our wage bill is no doubt far more then twice what any cub has ever gone down with. So we have to sell a lot of players if we don't want to lose £40-£50m in one season. Also its only certain player who have been put up for sale, not all of them. Having said that I agree with your general point about Ashley. He's picked the worst time to go all out for a sale. You'd think a good businessman would have had a plan for relegation, how to cut costs while giving us a chance to get back up so he could then sell and make all his money back. Ashley seems to do the wrong thing at the wrong time over and over again, how the fuck did he ever make so much money?, he's a fucking idiot!!

The only fkn thing she ever puts out is a spliff She never puts those out, I heard she smokes it right to the roach every time.
-
Make it seven with Duff! Unfortunately we may not be able to get rid of all six of the players you mentioned
-
They have contracts which have to be honoured. We will slash the wage bill, but only by letting players go. Owen, Viduka, Cacapa, Lovenkrands and Gonzales are effectively gone already, then we really need to get rid of at least five from: Coloccini, Nolan, Barton, Martins, Duff, Smith, Gutierrez, Geremi, Butt. That will provide us with around a £30m saving per season.
-
IMO he would have stayed had we stayed up, Shearer in charge permenantly and a large new contract would have kept him happy.
-
All, bar one, were signed when Shepherd was still chairman, only Smith was signed just after when Mort came in. Sorting out a £70m wage structure in under 2 years is anything but easy. Selling them isn't guarenteed unless your willing to sell at whatever price is neccesary to move them. Also as you sell you have to keep bringing in new players to try to improve the team. No doubt this is the season when the wage bill was planned to drop significantly with a lot of high earners finally out of contract (dropping the bill by £14m), just a pitty the fat idiot managed to get us relegated the same year
-
We're a yoyo club now then eh? I don't believe a thing that this bunch of cunts print BTW unless I know it too be true from elsewhere. The biggest offenders are: Owen, Viduka, Martins, Duff, Barton, Geremi, Smith, Butt All but one was signed under Shepherd. We were at around £70m a year in wages before Shepherd left and he's the one responsible for getting us there, nobody else. Ashley's an arsehole who should get the blame for some absolutely moronic decisions but he can't get the blame for our idiotic wage structure.
-
You can probably setup a seperate company to own the club though
-
He wants out anyway so this debate is redundant. Yeah I agree, just wish it would stop getting brought up £10m bonus, nah don't believe that one. Any bonuses would be on a sliding scale depending on how well the team performs in various competitions. What will they get the bonus for? League placing?, going far in the cups?

Parky, yeah I know he lost that money on HBOS, it was already mentioned in your earlier post and I read all about it at the time, the last article I saw had him losing £300m (he gained back that £80m mentioned in your quote). Though I've no idea what his final losses were. According to the Sunday Times Rich List he was worth around £2 billion in 2007 after making £929m cash from the floatation of Sports Direct (so he's had well over £1b cash at one point). That's his money by the way and wouldn't be effected by the subsequent loss in share price of Sports Direct. He also kept a £1 billion stake in the company. By 2008 his wealth had gone down to £1.4 billion but only due to the loss in value of Sports Direct shares (his original £1 billion stake lost more then half its value). Now after the credit crunch dropping shares further as well as losing about £500m of his own money from the HBOS gamble and Newcastle he's down to £700m. A substantial amount of that will still be cash/liquid assets.

Aye, I'd heard that they only just have the asking price and struggled to raise that. It think its the one fronted by Shep If that's true then they need to rethink their buyout. The club needs major surgery to rebuild a hugely unbalanced squad and that's going to require money, as is spending at least 1 season outside the Premiership. Without the additional TV revenue the club is going to be running at a pretty massive loss again this year unless they can renegotiate every contract at the club. Whoever buys the club is probably going to need to find about £50m this year to cover losses and fund transfers with the same amount being provided for squad strengthening whenever we return to the Premiership. We will be selling a lot of players though which will reduce the wage bill massively and bring in millions of pounds in transfer fees. Even if we only manage to remove £30m from the wage bill and bring in £25m from those player sales we'd be pretty much breaking even this season. Which means the only funds the new owner would need to come up with is transfer money, say £20m. The club can't guarantee that they'll be able to sell anyone. There's no way that we can force the high earners out of the club, they could easily pledge their undying love for the club and bleed us dry for the rest of their contracts. Whoever buys the club really needs to have sufficient funds available to cover the wages of everyone currently at the club, plus be able to fund new transfers. After that any sales should be viewed as a bonus. £15m worth of wages is cut out automatically next month when the contracts of Owen, Viduka, Cacapa, Lovenkrands and Gonzales run out. The list of players we've put up for sale as a priority (which doesn't include the players who have asked to stay like Smith, Duff, Beye ect) contains £23m worth of wages and most of them will definitely go, they want to leave and we want to sell.. Also while this isn't guarenteed obviously I think we will end up selling the likes of Smith and Duff despite what they say once a new manager is appointed.

Yeah, as i understood it the groups were only given access to the data room once they'd proved they had the necessary funds. All 4 groups are studying the books so they must've met the financial criteria Yeah but if they don't have funds to push us on it'll be like buying an AT-AT but having no money left to buy storm troopers It may mean they have set aside a transfer budget already, but if our finances are in such a mess that all there money will be used on our debts, then they will pull out. Which is why Ashley should either lower his price or run the club properly and invest in the short term to win in the long run. But this has always been the case and the fat fool is more likely to keep counting the pennies and sink the club like a stone being the cretin that he is. He doesn't really have that much real money left. Of course he does, the guy still has about £500m in the bank plus the money he brings in from Sports Soccer. Close 81.50 Change -4.00 (-4.68%) Volume 769,295 Year high 122.00 Year low 31.00 Thats the share price, what's your point ? The launch price was 3.00GBP this is what he made the initial hit on about £900,000. That was 2 years ago. Of course it has lost 2/3 of its value and is a bad buy most days when I check or neutral. It is well known that when the price started diving in early 2008 he was 'buying back' at around £1.50 to support it. He took a loss of around 300,000 on the HSBC gamble. He's spent around (if you believe him) 250,000 on the club altogether. I would like evidence he's got 500,000 in the bank. Do you have it? Loss of share value doesn't equal loss of real money, its a paper loss until he sells the shares. Also you're making it sound as if he had £500m and then all those losses happened. When in fact all those losses are the reason he's down to that kind of money (£700m actually according to The Times). He was at £2 billion before all that happened.

It might not be a club for much longer if he gets the go ahead though. Think your misunderstanding fat freds role in this consortium. He is a figure head only, a link between the manager and the money men and for that role assuming Shearer is the manager i think he will be ideal as they already have a good working relationship. FFS will be an employee and minor shareholder so I dont even think about the fuckups he made last time as I know he wont be allowed the free reign like he had before. FFS was only a minor shareholder and figurehead last time too... He owned 28% of the club, hardly a minor shareholder. He was a minor shareholder a few years earlier however the big difference back then was that Newcastle were on the stock market which allowed Shepherd to slowly buy up the club. He couldn't do the same thing this time around IF he really is just a figurehead.

You just love that Picard thing don't you

I've already said this. Newcastle United are a club with a huge stadium and a huge fanbase. A club that while sitting mid table with no european competition brought in the 13th highest revenue in world Football. How on fucking earth does that not equal potential? The massive potential of the club has been ground into the dirt and negated to a large degree by years of mismanagement, but its still there. Doesn't mean its worth £200m like, because its not! I can only hope its true that Ashley is writting off the £100m loan, because if not I don't believe it'll sell either.
-
Man, you're just not getting it. I'm talking about the potential of the club not the current state of things due to the incompetence of the last two owners.
-
First of all, stop being a petulant child, this isn't Toontastic.. Second the point of my post was that Newcastle United quite obviously has massive potential, that isn't arguable its there in black and white. However as with any business it still needs to be run properly if that potential is ever going to be fullfilled. The fact that you think Ashley wanting to sell means Newcastle United has no potential shows a serious lack of judgement on your part.
-
A few people apparently. Whichever way you look at it Newcastle has bags of potential and so would be a good investment. So people keep saying. I've seen less bias in the Daily Mail. Its not an opinion, its a simple fact. A club that can produce the 13th largest turnover in world Football after finishing lower-mid table has massive potential, but if its run by a bunch of fuckwits obviously its not going to be realised. By the way Parky a turnover of £50m isn't far off what some Premiership clubs get. He's been trying to flog it for 2 years now, I guess people just aren't getting the new fragrance. What you talkin bout willis? I wonder who could be trying to sell what in this thread. Wake the fuck up!! What did that post have to do with my post?, simple enough question isn't it?
-
That doesn't worry me I wouldn't know anyway never mind care.

Where are you getting £80m from? Or the knowledge that we'll be mid table.
