He couldn't already buy a ferrari on £40,000 or whatever? Look I'm not saying your lying, but the fact is you were told this info by someone who could be. Its more believable if your saying its due to a new contract (I was confident he wasn't on anywhere near that when he joined). But I still doubt it, I didn't hear any confirmation of a new contract being signed.

He's on around the £50,000 a week mark at a guess. Not even close double it. Lad ITK with Martins says the boys on big bucks before he even steps on the pitch, and more so if he plays well. Smith needs chopping I'd reduce Duka's wage give him a goal bonus. Duff is on stupid money as well probably. You're trying to tell us Martins is on £100,000 per week? This ITK crap is starting to get out of hand, its turning into a Spuds forum..

So the times article that apparently backs you up is wrong is it?
-
People don't believe it because there's no evidence what so ever to back it up. Being a negative story isn't a good enough reason to believe something, as much as that might fly in the face of some people's logic on here. I mean, we're supposed to believe that Keegan agreed to be manager knowing the apparent direction the club was taking. He'd been told that Wise, Vetere ect were coming in, that they would all have to agree on transfers and that they would not spend big money on older players. So he agree's but thinks "Nah don't worry, as soon as I'm manager I'll just convince them to go back on it all, plus I'll convince Thiery Henry to sign for us, along with four or five others players and all for £20 million ".. FFS this is what passes for believably on this forum?
-
He's also mad if he thinks that a club sets a transfer kitty based on only the money that leaves the clubs account in that period of time. If you have a transfer budget of £20 and you buy a player in a £18 million deal paying £6.5 million a year you still only have £2 million left in that budget.
-
For the millionth time the Modric deal was going to be paid as £6.5 million over three years. It's likely that most of our deals will be done this way from now on. From now on?, loads of deals have been done like that. It makes no difference though, once you agree to a deal for £18 million you've paid that £18 million no matter how much is paid up front.. That total amount comes out of the transfer kitty. Or are you seriously trying to tell me that when they say we have £20 million to spend they only mean based on initial payments? If that was the case, and it isn't because its insane, then our transfer kitty could absolutely anything from £20 up to £100 or more..
-
Oh common, our budget is £20 million but we're willing to bid £18 million for one player.... yet the directors want a list of young players. Were they planning on signing the likes of Gomis and Turan for £2 million? mackems.gif It doesn't take much logical thinking to dispel the s*** from the papers, think about it a bit more FFS.
-
Someone really saw you coming Baggio..
-
Keegan refuses to ok a deal for Turan and Gomis because he wants Kapo and Crouch instead.. ok, you just lost any belief I had in your story mate mackems.gif

Why would he? It makes absolutely no sense to sell.. Because the club isn't worth anywhere near that so he'd be happy with his £60 million profit for 12 months work? Everything's got a price. What's he going to do with that £300 million? Go and buy a different club and start all over again so he can add £60 million to billions he already has? This bloke bets that kind of money on the stock market, he isn't going to cancel out everything he's been trying to achieve over the last 12 months just as its really beginning for £60 million.. He's a business man and his main interest is making money, if he was the big fan and was interested in running the club as a hobby then he'd have pumped more of his money into the club on transfers rather than setting it up to run as a business, the fact that he hasn't suggests to me that he doesn't see it as a hobby at all. That doesn't mean he doesn't want to make us successful because by doing so he'll increase the value of the club, I don't think he's actively looking to sell either but if he had the chance to make a 20% profit then I think he would sell and tbh it wouldn't bother me either as whoever owns the club will want whats best for it and that is success. Just because he's not willing to do an abramovich that doesn't mean he's in it for the money. It just means he's not willing to make huge losses to achieve what he wants. No billionaire in his right mind buys a Football club to make money, they can make more in a reasonable low risk investment that they don't even have to be personally involved in. Its pretty clear to me that Ashley is in this to achieve something. I can't see him saying "Ah well never mind, back to Sports Direct" because someone offers him a small profit.

Why would he? It makes absolutely no sense to sell.. Billionaires don't buy Football clubs to make money, its a terrible investment, they buy them to achieve status, glory or because they just love Football.

Oh dear, here he goes again..

Like I said, they've won a few more trophies then us (the rest is just trivia). The fact that they've won the majority of those after the last time we won anything really doesn't come into it if we're talking about the history of each club. Same goes for league dominance, ours doesn't count because it was a long long time ago? (BTW Spurs have never had a single period of league dominance..) Anyway if you'd said recent history I wouldn't have disagreed with you.
-
Considering that both Spurs and Everton have substantially stronger histories than us I find this hard to believe. Really, if we are interested in signing the kid the only plausible advantage I can see us having over those two teams is the fact that Emre's here. They both have a few more trophies then us, hardly substantial (unless you're going to include Charity Shields ) Then again I really doubt most people in Turkey, or any other country, know the 100 year plus histories of each English club. Big signings, competing for the Premiership and Champions League Football is what really grabs attention these days. So what Orb says really doesn't suprise me..

I can't remember exactly what Keegan said about the Modric deal, if anything at all. But I doubt he knows the specifics of it nor would he say if he did know. There's no reason for the player to "play innocent".. The idea that he would hide his choice to go to Spuds ahead of us is bizarre, I mean, what reasoning is there for him to do that?
-
Of course the agent will do what the client wants or he will be replaced. it is not hard to think that. I am not saying it is his dream; its just that the agent put two clubs before "which u prefer" he will choose one unless he is indifferent and the agent will work on that. if that does not materlise, it is the player's choice to move to the other club. All the dilly dallying are all about finding the best possible deal for player and selling club. Look, I'm not sure if your missing what I'm saying here or just ignoring it, so I'll bold it, no offence meant but you're just not seeing it for some reason. Modric is owned by the Mamic brothers, Modric's agent is..... the Mamic brothers!! How do you fire the person who effectively owns you as a Footballer? To be clear I doubt Modric had his heart set on Newcastle and was annoyed at moving to the Spuds. But to say he turned us down for the Spuds is clearly bollocks. Oh and why have you replied to one of my posts on four seperate occasions?
-
Think about it?, make you need to think about it. For the final time the people selling the player (the club owner) and his agent are one and the same. Do you not see how that would not particularly favour the player and his wants and needs?.. By the way, nobody has claimed Modric was desperate to join us, just that there's nothing to suggest he ever turned us down or held out for a move to the Spuds. In fact the evidence suggests he had little say in his transfer A lot of players do have plenty of power in there transfers. Big names with effective agents and especially if they're reaching the ends of there contracts. However a young player who is owned by two brothers and represented by one of the two brothers is not in this kind of position. Modric himself said he was suprised when he was phone and told he was moving to Spuds. Does that sound like a player who was a big part of the transfer?..
-
Do you ever stop? I've been trying to ignore you but I just can't any longer. Why on earth would an agent who is also the owner of the selling club ignore a much higher bid from us and take a lower one from the Spuds? Especially before the Euro's when more clubs would be likely to come in. Because they care about Modric and its his dream to play for the Spuds? You're looking at everything in the most negative way possible regardless of how illogical it is.
-
Assuming a good portion of our targets will take part in Euro 2008 it then becomes very important for us to complete the most important deals before the tournement starts. A lot of clubs will be looking at players with similar attributes to the ones we want, but may not have done as much work scouting that player as us. They might not be sure of the quality of that player yet, if we are sure then that gives us the advantage, something that will be lost once Euro 2008 starts.
-
MaetihS .. Even if that story was true, how on earth does that make you right? If anything it actually would suggest that your wrong. Why would the Spuds need to outbid us if the player was certain to choose them ahead of us?.. think about it..
