I was not popular when at the start of the season, i say we have a worse squad than prior one. With signings like Beye (good buy i was wrong) and Cacapa, i know we will struggle cos i have seen them play regularly in France. Also signings like Smith as i recall please some fans but i was disgusted. I was criticised when i predicted we will be in the relegation scrap and should be happy just being safe, also being blasted when i say Pompey is way better than us in terms of squad quality. Seriously, the state of the club in terms of attracting players due to the big club tag is bollocks....we are just a top 10 club at stretch. No doubt rising stars like Turan, Gomis, Gomez will not come to us ahead of the likes of even Blackburn, Everton and Spurs. Do not blast me now...do it after we signed these type of players. I say we will not sign players of such quality and will settle for second raters like Diane and Sessegnon. I have seen them play and they are average at best. I have posted much recently because we have been linked to Ligue 1 players which i am familiar with. These are the type of players that will normally go to teams like Boro and Sunderland, we will sign them if we are interested cos we are definitely a more attractive proposition. But players like Gomis is way way out of our league. St-Etienne don't need to sell anyone. Feindouno's another one in the same position. They've already signed a few players, and with UEFA Cup football next season, I reckon they could push for a Champions League spot next season. I know they don't need to sell anyone, what I meant is they aren't a very wealthy club and a big enough offer will be very hard to turn down.

I'm not sure catering would make up the difference to be honest If you don't want to look strictly as revenue then look at profits, Newcastle 7 million pounds profit, Everton 1 million pound loss... Again despite Everton finishing 8 places above us. They're just not in the same league when it comes to generating cash.

What makes it possible for us and not possible for Everton though? Their fan base is large enough, they have a decent amount of cash (granted it may turn out we have LOTS more, but I'll believe it when I see it,) and as far as the current squad goes player-for-player we simply don't compare. I'd say it's either possible for both or impossible for both. Its possible, just not very likely. IMO to push on from that kind of position you need big money and Everton aren't anywhere near us when it comes to generating cash. Just take a look at revenues for Newcastle and Everton based on the 2006/2007 season. Newcastle - £88 million Everton - £51 million Everton finished 6th that season, we finished 13th, yet we weren't that far from doubling there revenue. I just think that if we finished in a Champions League place we'd be massive financially (we're 16th in world Football now finishing below mid table most of the time in recent years) while Everton would still be below were we are now financially. Of course that doesn't mean they couldn't push on, as I said I just think that when you get into the top 4 you really need big money to have a real chance to move on from there and challenge, and IMO we'd generate that kind of money while Everton wouldn't.

I'd say that to crack the top 4 means to get in there for a sustained period, for instance two to three seasons. IMO Everton don't have what it takes to do that, they could finish in the top four for a season, but not actually crack it. I honestly think only two clubs have the potential to crack it and that's us and the Spuds. We have the greatest potential to push on from there as well IMO if we did crack it. If we're just talking about who has the best chance of finishing in the top four next season, then I'd say Everton and Villa simply due to where they finished last season, but after the transfer window everything could be very different.

This country won't be much different to most countries outside Spain, in that alot of people will never have heard of the man and players will know of him but not see him as anything amazing.
