No, you see it wasn't strictly his fault in the worst sense. It was unfortunate that he appointed Souness, but the main issue is that we as supporters never took to him - something that was dictated by neither rhyme nor reason. As with all these "Do you want X major event to happen?" questions about Newcastle, the entire thing hinges upon our Board dealing with the ramifications of that major event. As such, I'm not too sure what I want to happen at the moment. We could sack Roeder tomorrow and get a half-competent mid-table manager who'll keep us up this season, or maybe a manager even a bit better than that, but we'll be stuck with the same old problems, and we'll find ourselves in the same position again. Something more fundamental needs to change. The trouble is in balancing long-term planning and short-term necessity. What I know I'm hoping for is a glorious takeover.

I would like to think Roeder's scalp will not take these new malcontents' collective eye off the ball. They've made a fairly good start, so far.
