Shearer in his prime was for me the best all-round centre-forward on the planet so therefore is one of the best players I've ever seen. Yes he lacked Ronaldo's skill and pace but Ronaldo lacked his strength, heading ability and general leading of the line. People underestimate just how good Shearer was. Me, if I could choose between a Shearer or a Ronaldo in their pomp, I'd go for Shearer, more of a team player, braver and lead the line far better, would get you a goal from his head, right, left, set-piece or off his arse. Ronaldo, if he wasn't scoring or getting at teams, was pretty ineffective. Just my opinions though. I don't think he was the best striker on the planet, even in his pomp, in fairness.

Where did you get the idea that he had more money from?? Oh, and if Roeder couldn't find a better central defender than Damange. Shambles and Moore - or a better left back than Babayaro - then he is even more of a f****** disgrace than i thought so. he can find tham but would you pay £8mill for upson ?..it's not footy manager where you just find someone better and get them,we've been ripped off too often for that. He's prven to be inconsistent, with flashes of good play, and also glimpses of shocking decision-making. Aye, Martins doesn't even fall into the "good" category yet for me. He's hovering somewhere around decent. Overall, i'd agree. He might well end up being a good/very good premiership striker, but he isn't one yet.

I think Dyer is well aware that we're probably about his level. He's been here a while, and his football and fucking stagnated. That much is obvious to anyone. The club is going nowhere. He has 2-3 years of top football left in him if he's lucky. He's here for the dough, obviously. Where do you think he should be targetting for his next move? Assuming he doesn't want to leave the country? Does the same apply to Parker, Duff, Given, Martins, Owen etc etc....the list goes on. If the club is going nowhere for Dyer, it's going nowhere for all of them too. You can't just apply this to Dyer because you don't like him. He's not good enough - noone wants him, and never have, apart from us, the only club stupid enough to pay him the salary of a top player.

How rude. The fact that Dyer is one of our best players says more about how crap we are as opposed to how good Dyer is. It also logically says sell the shitter players first though, surely? Or should we start this restructuring by disposing of our better players and retaining the crap? Get rid of very mediocre players and replace them with others who, at a lower cost, will provide a greater return. Its not too difficult, even for Roeder, surely?
