Feck's sake. My fault For some reason we have a Maintenance script that automatically puts the forum onto the default theme for everyone. Remained fine for me so thanks for letting me know so quickly. Should be back to normal.

I don't think it is too much to ask for really as you can both get by fine in English/with the help of translators The "how many times" comment was more about the amount of times you have threatened to leave the forum over the slightest thing.

How many times is this now man? It's an absolute joke. I have asked at least twice politely in the past as well, before anyone thinks I was unnecessarily hard on her there.

Naturally I feel like a prick every time this comes up and I ask again for you all to speak our language on here, but the whole reason I do is because if one person posts in another language they will inevitably get a reply in another language and so it goes on and on... It's an English forum. There are a lot of members here from a lot of different countries, but they all post in English. You guys should be no different. Use the Private Message system if you want to have conversations in French.

I still think Bellamy vs. Feyenoord is the one for me in my lifetime, can't remember another goal of such drama, although I may be missing something hugely obvious. I went from a lingering depression at 2-2 to pure excitement, then back to the verge of wrist-slitting and finally to jumping around my living room like an idiot in the space of a few seconds.

Thanks folks, it was just the ongoing work I mentioned a little bit earlier in the thread today. It was done to fix the posting error that quite a few people were getting and the work is now complete All that's left is a quick mod install and then a full backup of everything, which will take about half an hour at the most at some point during the evening.

I'd venture that it would actually look decent if they'd just made it black and white (white with a black outline so it stood out a bit and the reverse for the black letters). As said though, it's their company colours at the end of the day, although it would have been something of a compromise at least.

Philippe Albert? He is a cult hero here because of his style of playing from central defence, in particular because of a fantastic goal he scored against Manchester United when we beat them 5-0 almost exactly fifteen years ago (96/97 season). Have a look on video sharing websites if you haven't seen that goal before ("Philippe Albert Goal Newcastle 5-0 Man Utd"). He was a lovely player to watch and constantly rampaged forward to join in attacks, while his left-foot was a bit of a wand for such a big guy. He used to have a little set-piece routine with David Ginola that I loved as a kid (scoop and volley). I think a lot of people associate him along with the likes of Asprilla and Ginola as real jewels in our crown during some of the best years in the recent history of this club, mainly because of their approach to the game and the flair they demonstrated. I personally have a massive amount of love for Albert, not least for his fantastic moustache, because I’ve never seen anybody quite like him in his position in this country. Thomas Vermaelen was showing some echoes of Albert in his early days at Arsenal – although with more brute force than what I would call “class” – and I’ve often wondered if he considers him an inspiration given their heritage.

Agree with all of that, although I would surely be saying different if we began noticing blips in player performances after international games or if players started getting injured/needing rests because of them. No evidence of that recently though with those who have been involved with their national sides, so long may it continue. It's not like we have a particularly crowded schedule these days either, which is one defence I could potentially make for Bobby given we were regularly competing in Europe under him. Coloccini will hopefully get a chance again, along with the likes of Best who I can't believe is out of the Ireland picture given his form so far this season.

International call-ups always come with the fear of exhaustion/injury, especially when such distances are involved, but I couldn't begrudge Colo a return to the squad. Amazed it hasn't happened already.
