  1. Junkhead, that concept is fucking brilliant. Like people have said, if it was a bit more accurate it would be immense.
  2. is there enough to have a Keegan followers,vs Keegan blamers match. edit, can anyone tell me why my avatar changed by itself? If that was the case it would be me, you, Robster, The Gimp and TheSpence against the rest.

Sorry. It's fucking tedious, I know. The reasons for doing it are worthwhile basically, even though it's a bit of pain in the arse for all those who've changed their avatar since near December. Won't happen again!

Aye, we might have to go back to pre-Xmas avatars to get this working unfortunately! I'll explain the gist of what the problem was: as was currently set-up, avatars were being stored as an extension of www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/index.php which means that every time an avatar loads on a page (each single avatar per post) we were basically loading an entire "page" rather than the single "image", which is obviously putting unnecessary load on the server. In order to remedy this problem you need to move all avatars from their current location to a brand new directory within the server FTP, plus change multiple settings along with it. Unfortunately the need is such that we probably have to go back to the last stored set of avatars, which was done before all the Xmas stuff got uploaded. Once we get the process done, though, people will simply be able to re-upload their Xmas/new avatar again and they'll be stored in the new directory and we won't have to fiddle with them ever again. I know it's frustrating, but basically we're starting to do things "right" as far as the forum goes so that we can get the very best performance out of it. As it stands there's an awful lot that simply hasn't been configured correctly and doesn't run properly which leads to crashes and errors and slowness. We've got a checklist to work through now, basically, but the avatars should be the only things that affect you guys too much.

I'm fiddling with the avatars as they've been pinpointed as a reason why we may still be experiencing dodgy performance, you'll have to bear with me a bit. Apparently the problems we're having a more to do with the forum software being poorly configured than the new server (this is according to the SMF tech support guys.)
  8. It'll be 2009 by the time he gets back...
  9. Well we've got two DM's and two AM's already, basically, so central midfield is sorted as far as your wants go - if they all turn up.
  10. Haha Nah course i'd turn up, wil be a laugh skinning the lot of you. I want you up front in my team, I'll provide the service, you do the rest. Then we sex.
  11. We could do with people who haven't outlined positions whacking them in. By my count we've got a full allocation for 11 .vs. 11 (4-4-2), plus one, but knowing that people won't turn up it'd still help to get everyone's preferred positions! Provisional Positions GK (2): The Gambling Gorilla, nufc_kev. RB (2): Nixon, Greg CB (4): Optimistic Nut, Stephen927, The Prophet, Mofo. LB (2): WarrenBarton, Geordiecunny RM (2): Kaizero, Rich CM (4): Lien (DM), cp40 (DM), NorthernGimp (AM), LucaAlteri (AM) LM (3): robo_11, Jawesome, Fugazi CF (4): Pilko, Dr Venkman, King Kev, Wullie buzza and maxwaters didn't state any preferences.
  12. The original is very good. Rather than a complete overhaul, there's a lot to be said for just modifying that design a little. I like what Andy has done with his banner, although the font used is shite. Aye, that one is my favourite so far. Easy enough to change the font on it as well.
  13. Tend to agree with this. I rate Martins a lot more highly these days than I did back under Roeder/Allardyce, but he's not the player some on here make him out to be. He's still good like, and I'm glad we've got him.
  14. I'm going to try and put myself into Joe's shoes and pick the team: Given Beye Taylor Coloccini Bassong Jonas Butt Guthrie N'Zogbia Owen Martins Harper, Cacapa, Enrique, Geremi, Ameobi, Viduka, Xisco. I feel stupider already.
  15. Not 100%, but Fat Joe said this today: "But looking ahead to Sunday we'll probably have Butt and Guthrie back and maybe, just maybe, Duff as well." They're back in training and off PhysioRoom.com as well.
  16. Bit of a difficult one to call, this, team-wise as the squad is back to something like full strength. Barton and Duff are the only two "regulars" who will be missing come Saturday as Butt, Guthrie and Ameobi are all fit again.
  17. The original is very good. Rather than a complete overhaul, there's a lot to be said for just modifying that design a little.
  18. I think most of that is cock-on to be honest, and I don't often say that about your stuff. While there are always exceptions to every rule, those still arguing that Martins is going to magically improve his vision, first-touch, ball-control and awareness, etc. etc. to a consistent level that we (probably unfairly at times) expect of him through "better coaching" (I mean how fucking vague is that?) are only going to be disappointed. As far as I can see it's about getting the best out of what his good attributes are: pace, power, agility, etc. and making sure his confidence is up. He's a very, very good player when he's on his game and although he's not a perfect player, he's of immense importance to us as a football club, especially at this moment in time. Rather than looking to improve what he doesn't do particularly well (which is a big ask at his age unless, as HTT says, he really wants to put the hours in) we should be doing what Keegan did and making the most of what he does do well. The lad still has moments of brilliant control/finishing/passing/vision and that's enough for me as long as he's doing it on a fairly regular basis. I don't expect him to be on fire with every game, but we've already seen what he can do if given the right role and good support - he hasn't really let us down.
  19. I wouldn't be surprised at this as one of my mates plays 5-a-side with his brother regularly and reckons Kazenga joins in sometimes...
  20. Well, I'm trying to make it before 18th January so that Rich can come as well. I don't know if Parks is open on Sundays or not, if it is we could always do it on a Sunday. Why thanks! Although don't worry too much about that. Parks will be open on a Sunday! Are we basically just wanting an 11-a-side pitch to play on for 2 hours? Obviously 3G or astroturf with floodlights if necessary?
  21. This one, for me. Don't like the bevel effect on the stripes, then the plain black surround.
