  1. It's kind of the point, really. If you repeat them they'll get noticed. Well i'll highlight the ones i agree with, and underline & highlight the ones i think are essential. Will that do you? I was planning on doing the same thing! I was just repeating what Richard had said - don't get sarcy. He's right, just give your own opinions as best as you can, doesn't matter if they overlap. That's exactly what we're looking for.
  2. All in good time. The main point of doing this is to do exactly that, but not at such an early stage. Once it's been running long enough and we feel we've had enough individual replies we'll be doing exactly what you've just suggested there. Sned has beaten us to it with his Local Hero poll, but that's exactly the sort of thing we'll be doing. Basically, we're seeing what the major issues are/the most pressing concerns are and they're going to be bumped right to the head of the queue of everything that gets sent off to NUFC. The plan is to do this initially to see what matters to our readers/members, then to orchestrate a specialised survey aimed towards people's main concerns so that we can present everything much more professionally and concisely and then everyone who takes part in the survey will get their direct opinions and their personal details (name, age, location, etc.) directly put to the chairman. Like I've said, we won't be taking credit for other people's good ideas, those ideas will be credited to whoever came up with them and their name will be visible (if permission is given, of course) to whoever reads the finalised documents that come out of it. All the more reason to get your ideas in, really, because you never know what it could lead to if certain people are seeing the same name cropping up with great ideas for the club all of the time...
  3. Update 150 replies on here and 38 comments on the main website, this is going great-guns already with absolutely shed-loads of cracking thoughts/opinions from all corners. It's already led to a great little poll about Local Hero and there'll be more stuff of that nature to follow. If you've already posted and a new idea strikes you, then get it put in here as a new post, we need as much material as possible to get rolling with this so don't be worried about posting five or ten times with different comments/suggestions. There's been an awful lot about what the club could do in the future, but what do people think about what the club have done already since Ashley/Mort arrived? What has been a good idea on their part? What hasn't hit the right chord with you? I know some people have commented on this, but the more the merrier. And like others have done already, if you see an idea you really like but can't be arsed to type out yourself, just quote it and say "agreed", "seconded" or the dreaded "this". The more people that throw themselves behind certain ideas, the more chance they have of being noticed by the people that matter if there's more than one voice behind it.
  4. Plan is to leave it until Derby (a) and go from there. We'll see how it goes.

    Emre

Is our best start to a season for 5 years getting you down!? 6 years. If we get a point at Derby it will be the best since Dalglish was here, I think. EDIT: Wrong, we need to beat Derby to get a better start than we had in 2000/01 (10 points from 5 games - LWWWD)

    Do We Need Faye?

He removes Ramage (well, Edgar) from being 4th choice centre-half, at the least, which is good news in my eyes. He'll provide Nicky Butt with some competition for the defensive midfield berth, which he will probably thrive on. He offers some valuable height/strength to a squad that is still a bit on the "stumpy" side, which could be invaluable in certain games. He also offers cover for the right-back slot, if necessary, which could move Carr further away from the starting eleven. For £2m, I'm happy enough with that.
  7. I wouldn't expect anything less! As for the current things the club have brought in, the "early sales" policy on match tickets is another fantastic thing they've changed since coming in, as far as I can see. Obviously they're constrained by the Sky fixtures and all that, but the fact we have tickets on sale for Spurs (h) already is bloody brilliant stuff and something that should have happened a long time ago. They are getting plenty right already without much input from the fans in this sort of way, it could be EVEN better with us helping them along with ideas and should mean that they get far less "wrong" in the future as well.
  8. What’s this all about? Since Mike Ashley took full control of Newcastle United in June, some people here at Newcastle-Online have gone about forging a mutually beneficial relationship with the football club, something which was sadly lacking during the previous regime. Ourselves, NUFC.com and other fanzines like True Faith and The Mag have recognised the importance of good relations with the club for a long while now and finally, under the new owner, the people that matter have begun to respond. What does this mean? Basically, we now have the means to get our member’s opinions across to Newcastle United Football Club, through the proper channels, meaning that your opinion becomes more than just words on a fans’ website. To their enormous credit, the club have given us all a unique and unprecedented chance to get our personal opinions to the upper echelons of the St. James’ Park hierarchy. Obviously, this is too good an opportunity for us to miss out on and so in the coming days, weeks, months and (hopefully) years we will be doing our utmost to utilise this new tool at our disposal and we need YOUR help to do so. With everything “under review” at Gallowgate, there has never been a better time to have an opinion. What do you need from me? The first step on this previously-untrodden path is simply to find out some of your likes and dislikes about the current – and previous - Newcastle United. We want to know about every issue that concerns you and that you want to be heard about, no matter how big or small, whether it’s to do with away games, home games, the Box Office, club merchandise, the atmosphere inside St. James’, food and drink prices inside the ground, the new season tickets, the players, the manager, the staff, the pre-game and half-time entertainment, scoreboards, big-screens, potential transfers, the local media, the club website, the new kits, the club shops, Shearer’s Bar, the internal and external appearance of the stadium... Literally, anything that comes to mind, whether good or bad, whether you’re from the NE1 postcode or you’re in Outer Mongolia, we want to know – but, far more importantly than that, the club now want to know. No opinion will go to waste, nothing will be overlooked if we don’t agree with it ourselves, we’ve often said before that Newcastle-Online is run for the fans, by the fans, and this our chance to prove it - together. What does the future hold? Well, hopefully more of the same. We feel that sites like this one have an awful lot to offer Newcastle United Football Club. We have over 2,500 members on the forum alone and a great deal more who simply read the website, that’s a lot of potential feedback and opinion – from all corners of the globe and from all ages, races, genders and creeds – from people who all have the same agenda and the same interest at heart: to see Newcastle United prosper. We cannot encourage you enough to take part and have your say, because you never know who might be listening/reading and you never know what it might lead to. The more replies the better, so get posting!
  9. Agreed. Let's roll! I hope Luque is fucking mint for Ajax as I have nowt against the bloke personally and it should provide some good craic on here if he is. I blame Souness and Roeder, personally.
  10. Am I the only one who spends these two weeks worrying about injuries? I know it's a double-edged sword as it's good for the club in other ways to be represented so hardily on the international stage (12 players is quite impressive) but it narks me to fuck when players come back from these sorts of games with injuries.
  11. Luque is the worlds best striker/winger/left player in a 433/bio-chemical scientific pioneer EVER. Fact. Haddaway and shite, man. That's blatantly Laurent Robert.
  12. Editing my own posts, not other people's, just in case there's any confusion. I'd never dream of doing an "NE5" on someone. Anyway, this tangent is getting very steep... we need someone to come and tell us that Luque will be fantastic at Ajax and that he was dreadfully mishandled here by all and sundry to relight the fire... or we need to wait until after the international break and hope for a Luque hat-trick in his next match to REALLY kick things off.
  13. It's a good point and it stands, but Mellberg was playing RB yesterday with Knight in the middle wasn't he?
  14. Or, you're just a dumpling and you missed the point completely. Either way suits me fine. Game, set and match. Ithangyou. get a room, you two. Then you can naked-wrestle properly. Now THAT'S hypocrisy Surely this is more interesting than talking about Albert Luque!?
  15. But surely the post altering DID make you give a different reply? Because you must have commented before seeing this bit: Or, you're just a dumpling and you missed the point completely. Either way suits me fine. Game, set and match. Ithangyou.
  16. I'm torn between BARTON 7 and BEARDSLEY 8 as I seriously believe that I curse current players when I get them printed on my shirt, I'm not sure if I'd forgive myself if something happened to Pedro, mind. I've had Ginola in his second season, Shearer in the "horrendous injury" season (that one got stolen off my washing line!), Pistone was never great, Ketsbaia around the time he was out of favour/bound for an exit, Viana never really cut the mustard and Robert as things started to go south under Souness, Butt on the yellow Euro shirt, when he was utterly atrocious, as well. Cursed. Viduka gets injured 45 minutes into me owning a shirt with his name on... I'm not sure if I can risk doing it to another member of the squad... but the home shirt does look utter guff without it.
  17. What other choices have we had recently, though? I know someone's already mentioned this, but that's surely where the discussion begins and ends. Let's see what he does when he has one of Barton/Emre back and when Enrique is ready to take over from N'Zogbia on a permanent basis at left-back. At the minute he doesn't seem to be spoilt for choice and I'm fairly sure Allardyce knows what players to play in a 4-3-3...
  18. Do you really not understand why I was editing my post so much, or are you taking the Michael? I was making a point re: editing posts and how it affects people replies. Derrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
  19. In a stunning moment of weakness/hypocrisy I bought this shirt with VIDUKA 36 pre-printed on it in the club shop before the Wigan match. Money burns holes in my pockets, seriously... the collar isn't the best, mind, but aside from that I look delicious in it. ...I bought the home shirt as well after disparaging remarks about that, too... Still think the sponsor block is naff on that, mind. >
  20. I go to bed safe and sound in the knowledge that I am less lazy than Albert Luque, at least. (Topic returned, can opened, worms en route. Adieu.)
  21. WTF YOU TALKING ABOUT MAN!?!?! FKN HIPPOCRIT! *Explodes* (Now that's being worked-up. Rar.)
  22. My my, how Solskjaer has aged since his retirement.
  23. Hey, Mr. Defensive, I'm not worked-up at all so don't worry about that I am a professional janitor in a local hospital and very proud of it! It's a wonderful lie. I was just pointing out that you completely changed your original post after I'd gone to the bother of responding to it for you, as you asked me to, which sort of defeated the point and could have saved me a few minutes of my life, you know? I'm not sure if "Not cool." is a major slight in your neck of the woods, but apologies if this is the case. I'm amazed you don't understand my point about Luque more than anything and that you thought I've been wound-up by someone calling janitors lazy . Ish mental, no? THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX! Have you eaten some bad cheese which has re-produced the effects of some recreational drug and turned you into a paranoid lunatic, or sumfink? (Right I'm finished editing the post now as it's DEAD LATE and I feel I'm flogging a dead walrus.)
  24. About what?, that he'll look like a good player again given games? I'm glad you disagree, makes it interesting to wait and see what happens Changing your post. Not cool.
  25. Fucking hell man, it's late. You said "who wants to bet that once he's had 3 or 4 consectutive games at Ajax he won't start to look like the player he was before he came here?" about Luque and then said that you're not an expert on him pre-NUFC either, much like myself. My point is this: how can we compare him to the "player he was" when barely any of us had seen much/any of him before 2005? Was he ever that great for Deportivo? He certainly wasn't an invaluable player for them, as his appearance record shows, if anything he was possibly their less-effective version of Laurent Robert who scored a few raspers for them and an important goal or two, but was quite probably as infuriating as fuck the rest of the time and offered little/nowt from open play. From what I remember he has a goal ratio 1 in 4 or something throughout his career, which would be mocked for most other strikers/forwards. Don't believe the hype, basically.
