  1. What constitutes sufficiently wealthy for London? I’d say most of my friends and I don’t fall into that bracket and we really enjoy living here. That includes a musician and an NHS midwife (neither of whom have family support). I echo your sentiments entirely about Bristol. Wonderful place. Newcastle glorious; I’d also live in Cambridge when retired. Big amounts of time for Glasgow and Edinburgh. Don’t get any of the hype about Brighton or Manchester; both just grey and dilapidated to me. Birmingham an odd one: some outstanding and beautiful parts but lots of city centre is a write off and quite scary.

Right? That’s been said a few times. He’s just the one they think they want and, if available, why not wait? 2/ 3 matches isn’t much in the grand scheme of things.

For a while Pat Nevin called him Gway-hi, which I’m going to continue using.
  4. Tbh I’m cool with him calling a shithole a shithole. It’s a fucking dump

This genuinely reads like someone upset that someone hasn’t text them back

Come on, Marc. You know what’s good for you
  7. Yeh, they do look shite. It would be the essence of perfection if they were finally relegated just before the stadium move. Id still argue he did a good job at burnley. They worship him there
  8. I generally agree with your views but not on this one. His work at Burnley and Everton last year were at least par or slightly over.

    Just wants some Eddie
  10. Diaz should have got him sent off really

Agree with all, I’m not sure why but just landed on it. Nothing seems to quite fit what we need and can do.
  12. Just all strange career choices and decisions for one so allergic to living in a goldfish bowl. delighted he’s been found out nationally as a player and person. Little scrote who is a legend in his own mind

Today is the first day I landed on the conclusion we’re not signing anyone.

If you can’t watch that glasner thing and conclude that he expects him to leave but is instructed to say otherwise for now, I’m not sure what to tell you
  15. I dunno, it’s a pretty cool thing for him to do. Not just in terms of money he brings but making them more globally relevant.
  16. The obvious response to willing participation in group racism, to be fair to them. John Terry: captain. Leader. Legend.
  17. The only club who can spend £250m to make a central midfield worse while alienating a lifelong fan and obvious candidate for clubman-type legend. Ah well, at least Enzo’s got a woke cape now
  18. Bowen isn’t realistic, he’s not for sale and he doesn’t want to leave. Will be Madueke.
  19. Too much rumour and not enough signing make you go something something
  20. When did they wipe the floor with us? If you’re referring to the same fixture last year, we didn’t have any players
  21. I must say I have a similar sense of foreboding about him.
  22. Yeh that’s a really good analysis - the conversations likely include those very points. Is it worth going with number 2/3 for this number now when he may be available for that number next year etc. FWIW I think it’s worth doing now if a player is 25 and under - Howe would likely at least turn them into a saleable asset. Against that backdrop, a loan and one big buy seems reasonable.

In which case surely you have to accept that those in charge know better? I’d imagine the overhype you correctly identify is both the cause of the price and the fact he’s gettable. Palace may not have been minded to sell had he not played, because they’d not get such a big price and because another year in the PL under a better manager would be a reasonable basis to predict higher sale value in a year. That he’s done so well arguably leads to them concluding “let’s do it now while his value is over-inflated”. Newcastle will know this and have set bargaining confines accordingly. Time is unfortunately on Palace’s side.
