That Alan Hansen comment on MoTD was impertinent tbh - "just show him outside". His left is obviously his stronger foot, but his turn of pace/explosion is so good that he can still hurt you from the byline tbh - and probably have time to come back on to his left once he's got round you.

Thought he did while we were in possession, but he over-committed in an almost prideful way when he lost the ball (similar to what Beckham used to do), and Villa just pinged the ball around him and opened up space in the middle of the park. Ah well, still rate him and think he'll come good again.

Right back has been a problem position for a good while. I'm not 100% sold on Debuchy defensively. Seems like a bit of a hothead too, but yesterday was a bit more assured - although he had a few lapses in concentration/poor starting positions for Villa attacks.

I used to agree with you, and he has moments (or in this instance, the whole game) where I still do, but he also has blinding days. Think he's a confidence finisher. When he has confidence, he makes it look easy. If he's not, he goes back to the guy you wouldn't bet on hitting a barndoor.
