Not seething, just acknowledging that by 6pm bank balances will more likely remain as they are, when they could be higher had Ashley not hired and retained his incompetent friend - assuming the bonus was ever contingent on our league placing in the first place. Ashley will, and apparently already has, gained some goodwill out of it though. I'm donating my salary this month to a cat charity if Norwich beat Man City by three clear goals.

Let's put it this way, if he really wanted to give the non-football staff a bonus, he could have sacked Pardew in January and used the money from a top table finish to fund the bonus. Gambling against beating CL-chasing Arsenal to give people a bonus ffs Real man of the people.

Motives matter. I call bullshit. The money he's giving out is real money, not fake money. The staff that will be receiving this money are most likely people who are in the median income bracket, which is in the tens of thousands of pounds. If they're £4,000 better off today at 5, that'll be ten percent or more of their yearly salary. That is huge. They won't be giving a damn why he's giving this because he didn't have to. He could clearly not give this. Maybe he's giving it to provide extra motivation to the players, so fuck if he is. He doesn't have to. They're paid to play and win. Now they'll have to put some effort in to be able to look at the staff that serves them on a day to day basis in the eye. It doesn't matter that he's covered if we win because of the increased prize money in the league. He's smart and potentially many people will benefit from this when previously the only one affected was him. Ashley knows there is only a highly remote chance of us winning. He's just shifting the blame on not having to pay out bonuses to the staff, to the players. Smart corporate governance move. The faith in the regime/management will be increased if employees believe there was a chance he would have paid out and there'll be higher employee morale, less company theft etc. Evil Kevin Nolan, Jose Enrique, Demba Ba, soon Colo and Cabaye will be the bad guys. Whilst blame is spread thin across multiple parties, money keeps pouring in. You say it's not fake money, but given the likelihood of us winning, it just as well might be. He's covered, anyway. Good gamble from the fat arsehole who let's Pardew be as shit as he wants without repercussions.

Little but late: David Beckham Only fair (for some made-up reason) that Chris Waddle should kick us off: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22568870 Then neesy should stick his ore into the debate But ridiculously inaccurate. A bit embarrassing for Waddle really. Not really... Reading them he's spot on... Mostly agree with him too myself tbh Same.

A lovely curtain-raiser for the Football board as the largely football-free summer beckons.

Pardew doesn't deserve £4k.

Partly through other 'mandatory' commitments, partly through choice, I've not seen 90 minutes Benfica. I'd be malinger, forcibly change my timetable and generally be Larry David to make sure I could watch games but the regime has no meaningful desire for the club to be successful, so it can get to fuck.

You'll get used to it - a fair chunk of posters jack-knifed from game-to-game believing that the 'next game' would be the one where everything came together last season and we'd look like the sum of our impressive parts. It's the textual version of white noise after a while

I accept it, unquestioningly. Should submit that to the ONS, B'more. Class.

But ridiculously inaccurate. A bit embarrassing for Waddle really. He went a bit far, yeah.

Would you sack Pardew if we won our first game of next season and didn't drop out of the top 5 all year....assuming the style of football remains....workmanlike. We would be playing better or we wouldn't be 5th, unfortunately being 5th the style wouldn't bother too many i wouldn't think. But as we've seen this season Pardew's direct style is not sustainable long term. Fat Sam maybe, well if you want to just exist in the league anyhoo. The football was arsejuice when we finished 5th. With Carroll up top the arse juice football could be as effective again. When has arsejuice-football ever been able to compete for trophies on a consistent basis? There's a natural ceiling on arsejuice football.

Waddle's Beckham comments are pretty funny.

These peanuts are making me thirsty.

Wonder how sad jotenko would be if Porto beat them 0-3 at the Estádio da Luz, then Sporting Lisbon beat them 0-6 in in the next home game, and nothing changed.

Name of the season review DVD right there.

Chelsea are such unstoppable bastards.
