  1. Why would we want to sell him? We wouldn't get more than a few million for Milner if we sent him to MON, and that wouldn't get an adequate replacement. Keep.
  2. Team - Dyer = Shit. Team + Dyer = Looked decent. That is all that matters at the moment. You said yourself that the last 11 games don't matter, so neither does Dyer's record if he continues to play well.
  3. We played approximately 3.5 minutes of good football out of 90. But in fairness, Dyer really made the difference when he came on IMO. And I usually hate him. Anyway, you knew we weren't going to score when you saw that Ameobi & Sibierski were the two forwards - the worst partnership you will ever see, anywhere. Luque? Rossi? Roeder is a long ball merchant in a team that isn't built for it. Better than the Sheffield match, but when I looked at the fixture list in the summer this stretch we've just finished was supposed to be where we moved up the league. Instead, we're rock bottom. Where are the points coming from?
  4. N'Zogbia for whichever Newcastle player looks most likely to do something, 89 min.

    Morrissey

I was happy in the haze of a Sicilian hour + 30 minutes But heaven knows I'm miserable now. Panic on the streets of Tyneside Burn down Shepherds mansion Hang the fat arse chairman Because the football that we constantly play IT IS TOTAL FUCKING SHITE Hang the chairman, hang the chairman, hang the chairman...(etc)
  6. What a joke. The entire 2006/07 season review DVD should be set to the Benny Hill theme.
  7. Carr is an appalling footballer and one of the main weaknesses of the team. There is simply nobody in the Premiership that can’t get round him. When the defence finally gets rebuilt by our next competent manager, he will be out the door. But I agree with the sentiment of the original post – blame the bloody players. We were totally despicable today and poor tactics and team selection can only account for so much of that. Souness was shit, Roeder is shit, Shepherd is shit, but there are always the same crew of pathetic underachievers and non-achievers that stick around - earning millions to play like schoolchildren against Sheffield. I don’t care if it’s Roeder, Hitzfeld or my Gran managing the team. Professionals (internationals) with their amount of experience and reputation should never perform that badly. Tactics are only so much of the problem. There is some rot in this team - some wasters and some players that probably know they have no business in the Premiership - and the next good manager the club gets will sort it out.
  8. I completed cocked up an exam today AND then caught the last half of the match. Worst. Day. Ever. Smirnoff & Harp by the way.
  9. Barcelona could drop down if Bremen beat Chelsea in Germany, and Barca don't find their form. Drawing them would be an entertaining disaster.
  10. I agree with that. I hated the triple sub. But I don't like the 10 min desperation subs by Roeder either. Common sense would say that the best time is around the hour mark - give players a time to have some impact.
  11. Looking at the quality of the opposition, you'd have to say we have a chance. But that's always the case in the UEFA Cup. Its why Moscow can win it and Boro can make the final. Depends on avoiding the good teams (like Arsenal) that drop in from the Champions League and Sevilla, Ajax etc. But the answer is of course... Somehow we'll even find a way to lose the Intertoto Cup. We'll finish behind Auxerre or maybe forget it at the airport. Inevitable.
  12. If we sold him to Arsenal for 8-9 million and got a couple of their defensive cast offs/youngsters in the bargain it would be worth it. If we sold him to Spurs, I'd fly over and help with the burning of Shepherds house.
  13. Sure, but if Palermo are on top form and the scoreline gets embarassing then I don't think Roeder will survive it. Comments like 'we could go through the season saying we are playing well and not winning games - but that doesn't keep you in the league' aren't just worrying - they are more or less directly contradicting statements from the manager. I don't particularly know why, but I don't see him surviving a hammering on Thursday. Again, I don't know if it will solve any problems. I blame the chairman, I blame the manager, but I also blame the squad - most of whom aren't good enough.
  14. It makes you wonder when the captain and the manager aren't reading from the same script. If we get really humiliated against Palermo on Thursday, I have a feeling that Roeder will be gone. I don't particularly know if it will solve anything, but the signs are there.
  15. That doesn't mean he isn't finished. It just means that some of our players are being put to shame by a player at the end of his career.

    Apathy?

The apathy is worse than under Souness. Under Souness, I could point to specific instances where he was killing the club and making us lose. Under Roeder, I don't honestly know what I would have done differently to change the result. No Titus, but that wouldn't have made a difference this afternoon. Luque on for 15-20 min maybe, but he hasn't shown a lot. Drop Carr maybe? But is that going to make Duff & Rossi hit the target? For the last half hour of that match you were just waiting for the chorus of boos at the end. But here's the sad fact that every supporter of a struggling side wants to avoid: it's just not a very good team.
  17. Would be an improvement on what we have. And would be far cheaper and more likely to come than Lennon or SWP.

    Positives?

My personal reasons for optimism. 1) The takeover rumours seem to be gathering pace. 2) Rumours say we are selling Bramble! 3) Also say we are getting Baines. 4) Roeder is still better than Souness and might actually be bothered by how crap we are. 5) Always the possibility of an unlikely cup run, even if the league campaign looks to be a midtable write-off or worse.
  19. Why in gods name would Hitzfeld bother? Sack Roeder, get Curbishley...if we are lucky. This is a lower mid-table club with a poor squad that everyone knows is run by a shit stain of a chairman.
  20. I still don't hate Roeder. I think he cares, I'm just not sure if he's good enough. I could see him resigning.
  21. Ask yourself this question - who are we going to beat? Certainly doesn't seem impossible.
  22. Money. The same way most players go to clubs. You sign up a player like Sol Campbell because you offer him more money, and then you win more games because of it.
  23. I'm looking forward to Warnock's post-match interview.
