  1. Nufcblog doesn't seem to be any less professional than the uncorroborated guesswork, speculation and bold face lying that goes into professional UK football "journalism". Making the backpages doesn't seem to make it anymore true.
  2. It would be a good deal if the 11-15 mil we get for him is immediately reinvested on midfielders. Can't see that happening though.
  3. I wouldn't begrudge him a move to the top four, but I'd be annoyed if he left for Spurs.
  4. 1. Did it ever occur to you before appointing Kevin Keegan that the extent of his popularity would make you - and the rest of the club - a hostage to his erratic, childish behavior? Did you not see it coming? 2. Nicky Butt? (Asked in the tone of a question.) or Nicky Butt, what f***? 3. What have you done with your Alan Smith shirt?
  5. He needs money to spend on players, but the players don't need to be expensive. It's doubtful we can attract the sort of players that merit those sort of transfer fees, so we'd probably end up overpaying. Average managers at small clubs seem to be getting consistently better results than us with average players that most people on here would turn their noses up at. If it takes massive investment to reach the mid table and avoid performing like a lower league team against the top four, then how are jokers like Hull managing it? Average Premiership players are fine with me. Average seems like a distant dream when you suffer through the performances of Nicky Butt. You could probably create a long list of more technically competent, more ambitious, more creative players on lesser wages that could easily replace Butt from just the Championship. Take a look at Bassong - a physical, no nonsense professional. Doesn't flap about under pressure, doesn't commit many silly errors. Hardly exceptional, but in the context of this squad he stands out. By just doing his job. And how much did he cost? Give us two equivalent players in midfield and we'd be a much better team. You can't tell me we have to spend 30+ mil to fix this squad. We just need pros instead of the washed up wasters that earn 10x their worth because they have a recognizable name. Part of the problem with this club is that since we never win anything, so much pride and prestige gets wrapped up in the transfer market. Signing a big money player is the closest we get to a bit of glory. If we sign 3 or 4 players in January that nobody has heard of or that aren't established internationals then people will be unreasonably disappointed.
  6. To be fair, he isn't the first Newcastle manager to be blind to this fact. No less excusable though. Nicky Butt has had a major stake in five years of failure. In a period of constant change and turmoil, he has been the almost constant steaming dog turd at the club. GET HIM OUT.
  7. I don't. He was a decent-ish player that wasn't really interested when he first came here, and since his return from Birmingham hes been a generally poor player with the odd decent game here and there. Absolute rubbish. He was our best player throughout the last 12-15 games of last season. Comedy gerld. How did this myth about Butt being a plucky, useful, just about good enough squad player ever get started? He is shit. Atrociously shit. He has been shit since he left Man Utd. At no point in his career with Newcastle has he ever approached "good enough". Not in the first team, not as a squad player, not as a tea lady. Shipping him off was the best thing Souness ever did. If he was in his mid-20s or foreign, he would be a national joke on the order of Boumsong. I can't fucking stand the man and I want him gone. NOW.
  8. Wigan, the ultimate Christmas buzz kill. Beye injured against these cunts really annoys me
  9. Why do we always seem to have so much trouble against this bastard side.

  11. Smart decision from his point of view. If we do really well and finish comfortably mid table/pushing for Europe, he can demand lots of money. If we go down or struggle to stay up, he's out of contract and can leave.
  12. Has Redknapp written all over it. He has to sign his obligatory 32 players in every transfer window.
  13. We obviously have a total lack of depth in key positions, but I would also argue that our first choice options in the positions in bold need to be stronger if we want to be a top 6 or 7 team in the future. Without taking anything away from Guthrie's performance, our options in central midfield are nowhere near good enough.
  14. I love those weekends when you get a good result like this. Like the Bill Withers song says, just one 3-nil win at Pompey and I know its gonna be a lovely day.
  15. I take exception at Bernard being called dross like, but a good post nontheless. I also liked Lua Lua. Agree entirely mate. Bernard was my favourite player aside from Shearer for a good season or so. A lot of people thought he/they were s*** though, similarly with the likes of Enrique today. That's what i was getting at. Thanks btw, guys. Nice hearing stuff like that from people even if it is the internet. That photo has been photoshopped. An image of a fit Carl Cort has been added to it I think Yorkie's post makes a fair point, but I think that it relieves the players of any sort of responsibility for their performances. Kinnear isn't the ideal man, we know that, and in truth he probably knows that too. But there are employees in companies all over the world getting decent results in spite of a poor manager. A good manager or a legendary manager like Sir Bobby can be sufficient in producing a good, successful team. But I look around the Premiership and I see the likes of Pulis, Megson, Southgate, Bruce....none of whom strike me as particularly great managers, most of whom I would hate to see at the club, but all getting favourable results with average players. I could probably search Getty and find a picture of Steve McClaren at the UEFA Cup final. How did he get there? Managerial prowess or on the back of a competent group of players who took responsibility for their own performances (and a bit of luck)? I'm not really trying to defend Kinnear, but I don't think this league position is down to him. Sack him, and you are still left with a group of players whose attitude and basic ability are not as unquestionable as some people around here like to think. Managerial incompetence can only drag you down so far. You can't design the sort of bad performances that put you at 17th in the table. You might argue that he is failing to motivate, it may be the case, but I expect better from a group of players with the sort of CVs and wages they have. Kinnear's puzzling tactical decisions and substitutions shouldn't excuse players that aren't pulling their weight, or lack the bottle to defend a lead in the dying minutes of a match.
  16. A new fucking contract for Nicky fucking Butt. Jesus bawled his eyes out in hysteria. The club is run by absolute fucking moneys, you can only shake your head in amazement. The same personnel, the same abysmal results, the same hopeless solution of sacking the joker in charge but inexplicably retaining the same wasters like Butt. The bastard should be a player-coach at Oldham, not pretending to still be a Premiership footballer. Do you see anyone else in this league - even down in the bottom three - mucking about like this in the most important position on the pitch? You might as well flush the money down the toilet. The way this club is run isn't just asking for relegation, it is begging for it.
