  1. Definitely. Much better choice than Silvestre. LB, CB, RB, CM. Versatile player that can play just about anywhere. (Like Geremi in that respect) But I think he's content to sit on the bench at Manchester United. Too bad.
  2. Put down the crack pipe and step away from the children.
  3. Ginola was superb for at least one season at Tottenham, arguably his best year in England. Won Player of the Year. yeah, but nobody reads his book.
  4. "As long as I play, I'm happy. For me, I don't care where I play." --Geremi Kind of puts Dyer's attitude in perspective. Really, looking forward to seeing him gone.
  5. Stam? Is he still playing? Ajax, I think. What is he 35?
  6. yeah, it's on one of the "Mort" threads. Says, Villareal are interested. All Sol says is that he doesn't think Portsmouth will be his last club.
  7. Absolutely, in the current market West Ham will have to pay through the nose for Dyer.
  8. Hey! Mort, Sam Campbell looks to future with an eye on the exit at Portsmouth Hint Hint
  9. Best ------ 1.Earnshaw 2.Pizarro (Free) 3.Melchiot (Free) 4.Distin (Free) 5.Geremi(Free) Worst ----- 1.Faubert (out for 6 months) 2.Babel (£11.5m?) 3.Hughes 4.Harewood 5.Kamara (£6m) Convinced that Fulham will go down.
  10. Wow. Can't believe I'm writing this but we should've kept Sibierski. While I'll admit that the team looked much more threatening when Dyer was on the pitch, I'll be happy to see him go -- provided we get a decent replacement. It is the beginning of a new era and it is time that Dyer (and Carr) go the way of Roeder, Bramble, and Shepherd. Everything that passed between the sale of Woodgate and signing of Sam Allardyce was a waste. I'd just as soon see the club dump as many "icons" of that era as possible. And nothing is more iconic of that era than the Bowyer-Dyer spat. Get rid.
  11. I agree From what I am picking up on this board is that too many people expected an instant fix and the immediate signing of a whole new squad of 20 players and because its not happening, the doom and gloom is starting to decend again. We have to stop thinking like this and remember where we were at the end of the season. No way was this going to be fixed quickly. Which is fair enough when talking about the midfeild or attack, but when were talking about our defense, currently whats been going on is not good enough. A makeshift free rightback and a cheap defender who's never played in England before. This is simply not good enough since we've released Bramble, Moore, Gooch and never replaced Boumsong, have only one natural LB at the club who shows no interest in wanting to play football and again at RB a makeshift aging winger was our best performer there last season. Were not talking massive leaps and bounds here, we talking about sensible spending and bringing in bodies at the back which we've yet to see and the start of the season creeps closer and closer, players already missing out on the training camps away, pre season friendlies, its just the same s**** as last year, nothing has changed. 100% agree. We need defenders just to make up the numbers. We need quality defenders to make any progress. It won't matter how good our strikers are... if we don't shore up the defense we won't be moving up the table any time soon.
  12. Well, that is what he said isn't it. I just wonder how long this "moment" will last. I can't see how the quote can be interpreted positively.
  13. Absolutely! We're in Europe aren't we?
  14. They didn't mention that Kluivert scored half of those goals in a single game-- in the Intertoto Cup-- against some Israeli side.
  15. +£15m (To start +£6m (Dyer ) ===== £21m Buy --- Heinze £7m or O'Shea £6m Eboue £8-9m or Diarra £8-9m Campbell £5m or W.Brown £6m Assumed injuries: Viduka, Barton, Duff, Babayaro, Emre Line-up opening day (4-3-3): ---------Given------------- Eboue--Taylor--Rozehnal--Heinze Milner--Butt--N'Zogbia Owen--Ameobi--Martins Bench: Geremi, Campbell, Luque, Harper, Solano Line-up opening day (4-4-2): ---------Given------------- Eboue--Taylor--Rozehnal--Heinze Geremi--Milner--Butt--N'Zogbia Owen--Ameobi Bench: Martins, Campbell, Luque,Harper, Solano
  16. I think we made a bid for Heinze. Can't see Chivu, Lahm, or Barzagli going anywhere for £7M.
  17. These three threads are pretty much the same now ....no galaticos....quality defender....left back...Heinze....7M bid.....Lahm.....Bayern....Emre.....Who would you sign?...left back....
  18. ...a team that will not play Champions League football this coming season. Whereas we...
  19. Don't believe it's Lahm for a second. He's Bavarian isn't he? Must of grown up supporting Bayern.
  20. (1) Angel is shit. He will stand out in MLS. (2) Lalas didn't bring Beckham over. The league brought Beckham over-- its a single entity. Prior to being the GM of the Galaxy, he was the GM of the San Jose Earthquakes and the New York Metrostars. He's a an errand boy, sent by grocery clerks, to collect a bill. (3) The attention span argument is bull shit. It has nothing to do with attention span. Look at how many Americans watch golf on television. There are a lot of historical and cultural reasons why football/soccer languishes behind other games in the US-- but "attention span" is not one of them.
  21. Lalas knows MLS is shit. He's a spokesman for the league and likes to see his name in the papers. He needs the attention, that's all.
  22. Doesn't really matter who it is. He is worth that much. Christ, Jenas went for £8m. Can't think of any English International that is going to go for £5m much less £2m.

Barcelona are supposed to be looking at Del Horno. Surely Zambrotta is returning to Italy. Other than Sylvinho would might that make available?
  25. What was that football.365 article? West Ham are the new Newcastle United
