Probably true. I'd like to see an attempt. I'd think that there are a lot of top-notch defenders who would like to play in England-- a bigger stage than France or Germany for example. And higher salaries. Besides, there are only so many positions available at Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool, and Arsenal.

We've got £50m and Allardyce keeps bringing in free transfers. Doesn't sound right to me. And I don't imagine Geremi is coming to warm our bench. Personally, I'd like to see that money spent on top notch defenders. EDIT: I am not saving he's not a good addition. Just that we've signed someone who is not good enough for Chelsea (which we've done before) and if we have £50m available, we should try to buy someone who would start for any club in the world.

You're smoking crack. I am sure we have both seen Bocanegra play many times and I think he is a liability of Steven Carr proportions whenever he gets the ball. The only thing that edges Carlos out over Carr is that he has more pace (but then again who doesn't). Bocanegra is properly a center back. If you watched the final against Mexico over the weekend you saw a player who was not a liability at all, but the MOTM. He saved the US's ass on several occasions-- mistakes made by liabilities named "Gooch" Onyewu and Jonathan Spector. Without Bocanegra, the US loses that final. Edit: Also, cracked me up. The Guardian had a piece pointing out that Bocanegra had more goals last season than Shevchenko. Without the ref bottling a call in the game against us (Canada), you'd might not have made the final. Funny it was the same c*** that f***** us in WC qualifying. Yes, and it was our old friend-- and liability-- "Gooch" who headed the ball back and put Hutchinson onside. You've got every right to feel aggrieved.

Do we blame you when the club goes down?

The crux of the matter really. If Martins and Owen stay, that £50M could go a very long way. Replace the entire backline and the subs bench-- Taylor excepted.

The way the club treated Milner last off season he could of just gone through the motions for us--telling him he could go (to Aston Villa were he was wanted and appreciated) and then pulling him back at the last minute. Still he played his ass off. And he's going to get better.

It does not look like any of tonights games are on sky sports. Both of them are. Tuesday 26th June Football 23:00 Sky Sports 1 Uruguay v Peru Copa America Wednesday 27th June Football 01:45 Sky Sports 1 Venezuala v Bolivia Copa America Seems like games that you'd brake a leg to stay up for eh ? If no, I'm sure the Uruguayians will break a few for ya!

Argentina brought a full strength squad. Bet they maul the US Thursday. The Americans brought an "experimental" squad. Won't be able to manage Tevez, Messi, Riquelme.... (Not that our best 11 would do much better) Still, I appreciate the thought. This past weekend they beat Mexico-- first time I've seen them "play" with Mexico and win.

Better than resigning Bernard.

Don't buy into this notion that Milner isn't good enough or that he'd won't be good enough. Souness said something ridiculous about never winning anything with a team full of Milners. I don't trust his judgement, and inasmuch as you agree that Milner will not come to anything, can't agree with yours either. He's 21 fucking years old and over the past two seasons he's been the best player for two clubs-- Aston Villa and Newcastle. He's got more caps than anyone on the under-21s and will be eligible to play for them for some time still. It is a little early to say that he won't come to anything IMO.
-
FFS What are you doing? Channeling Souness now? James Milner is 21 and he was the club's best player last season. (We should be so lucky as to be midtable.)

Don't f****** apologise to people who are taking the piss out of you. Call them miserable c***s and be done with. Ok, sorry. I won't do it again.

Stay on Freddie.... All is forgiven!!

Well, we've already bought Viduka. Let's buy some defenders this time.

I've seen this thread many times on many forums. The winner, as always, the Colorado Caribous of the NASL. http://www.premiershirts.net/wearthat/wearthatshirts/colorado.jpg

Way too early to tell. Wenger probably won't miss a beat. If I were to bet on any one of the top four faltering it would be Liverpool.

No. Scholes, Ferdinand, and Ronaldo are all absolutely f****** top drawer. I have a jaundiced eye for woeful footballers who forge a career on effort. Bigger problem is with talented players who couldn't be bothered.
