Can someone confirm if it is really a dislocated shoulder? That's usually bad news.....I hope the 2-3 months out does not turn him into another Luque......FFS what is it with us and injuries?
  4. Oh, it's Keegan who's left us in a mess is it? Nowt to do with the people in charge of the club undermining the man and making it impossible to do his job. I think it's Ashley and Co who are responsible for this mess. Can you read man and why only quote selectively? I made it clear that I wasnt discussing who is responsible for the mess, just that Keagen leaving us 3 games in the season has left us in a mess. I take Madras' point though that our squad still looks decent, the mess I was referring to though is that we are managerless and even if we appoint one, he might have a different vision and style than Keagen's which means our players will need to be conditioned on his tactics and style of play (which usually takes some time).
  5. By that you only mean he never gets sacked though surely? Buggers off before anyone gets chance to. As a temporary measure he works out well, but after his first spell at Newcastle he didn't stay in any job for a great length of time, did he? Couple of seasons at City being the longest he managed if I remember rightly. That's a good thing surely? Knows when his time is up, doesn't cost anything etc. He left Fulham to take over the England job, that's not really the same as walking away, anyone else would do the same. He was at City for four years, got them promoted and left them as an established Premiership club. His record stands up to any scrutiny. Football is a strange beast whereby walking instead of waiting for a massive payoff seems to be frowned upon. The best managers don't have to do either. What do they do then if they don't walk and they don't get sacked? Kill themselves? No, keep building and rebuilding the team, bringing them on, winning trophies. And die in the job? They leave eventually ffs. Other than Fergie and Wenger, loads of top managers move clubs all the time. He got three clubs promoted, I'd say that was bringing them on. Keegan left City with his head held high. He made it clear he was going to leave at the end of his contract and as often happens (Fergie) he became a lame duck, so left a bit earlier. Nothing wrong with that. He left Fulham to take over at England. Nothing wrong with that. Other than his disputes at Newcastle (and the downward spiral we then entered until Bobby Robson would suggest he was correct first time round), the only time he's actually quit because he was doing a s*** job was England. There's a fundamental difference between walking out and leaving the club in a lurch and leave the club on an amicable agreement at the end of the season and giving the club enough time to find a successor (which is respected managers would do when they've achieved enough at a club). Whether he is right or wrong, nobody can dispute that Keagan left us in a mess.
  6. So if the fans don't get to decide on the hiring and sacking of managers, then what prevents the board from sacking Keagan in the same circumstances that Ashley did, which I'm assuming is a major reason for your suggestion in the first place. At least now, he making those decisions using his money. Under your proposal Ashley can sack Keagen with our money....No thanks
  7. Investors usually set two selling points, one to make a profit, the other to protect them from taking too much of a loss. And before we get carried away, he's not exactly Warren Buffett. You are right Mick, he is no Warren Buffet but that's why I said it's Investment 101. The 2nd scenario only works if if the investor wants to cut his losses and this usually happens when there is a steady and steep decline in profits. Do you really think the boycott is sustainable and that it will cause such a huge loss in Mike's income stream? My position is that any boycott will only hurt the club financially without as much making a dent in Mike's wealth.
  8. Sorry but that's a poor analogy. This is different from the typical economic sanction on dictators argument because we all support the club and would not want it to face financial difficulties. Most of us couldn't a toss bout Germans during Hitler's time. I can very well express my disagreement with Asley's policies without hurting the club in the process. Re the bit in bold that I've quoted, are you now suggesting that we stop backing the club because we disagree with Mike's policies???
  9. I think its brilliant. That's smart, drain the club of potential income so that we will less money for transfers. Mike is gonna take his cut regardless, it's the club's revenue that will suffer....Accounting 101. Plus Mike is not gonna sell the club with plumetting profits and share prices....he is not a novice investor who will sell the moment things look bad, buy low sell high....Investment 101 Pathetic recommendations by Super Fan of NUFC no make that Super Fan of Keagen I find it funny someone who wants or wanted Hitzfeld, call someone else stupid but hey ho. Explain to me this then. The club receives money for participating in the Premier League a fee estimated at £30m pounds. With substantial cuts on the fronts of Wages, as well as operating costs. Why wasn't this money invested in new talent to subsequently raise our position in the league and potentially get us back in Europe and accordingly raise the clubs profits, allowing the club to self subsidize the further acquisition of new players? Tell me why we are lead to believe this club was set a budget of £12M to I assume achieve the goal of Europe or mid-table. We have been one of the lowest Spenders *(Not including fees taken in) in the league, for a club "On the rise" that is shambolic, and if Ashley attempts to claim anything other than foul play then that in itself is diabolical, the more I watch the more I believe the man has pocketed the money for that which he put into the clubs debt clearance. Now before you turn round and say "Should he not get his money back like?" That is not my point, but first and foremost as owner of Newcastle United his concern should be very that, hes trying to run before walk, establish the club as successful THEN re-take the money which you invested, what business investor do you know of expects returns in the first year? This team required significant strengthening, as well as the releasing of some of the high wage earners at our club, the likes of Emre went, but Messes Smith and Duff did not, now there are numerous stories regarding prices being hiked on the last day and such that suggest the reason why Mr Smith did not leave, but even if it meant offering Duff a settlement fee, surely it would be better to employ a structure where by players are on the same pay plateau in terms of our better players, imagine if you will Jonas, now I doubt for one iota of a second that man is on more than 40k , what message does it send to him to see Damien Duff hobbling around on 60 k a week when he is on less put playing considerably better? It suggests that "Hang on I can go into the board room and demand more money, and if they don't like i'll go to a better club." Ashley will no doubt have also sold countless shirts on the back of Keegans return, as well as other Keegan merchandise that was peddled at us fans, retro shirts may also have seen an increase in sales due to the return of Keegan, to simply ignore the revenue he alone will have generated would be naive, ticket sales alone shot up for Stoke City when his return was announced. For a smart businessman I think Ashley has been bitten on the bum, I believe from day one he used Keegan as a money spinning stunt, and when Keegan was not allowed to act as he pleased (Partly due to lack of confidence I assume) frictions began, with Ashley unwilling to give Keegan money, which I do not blame him if we believe his list of targets, some of which I believe will have been true due to his lack of activity in the game for quite some time, this was a disaster waiting to happen. If anything Ashley took us back to the days of Shepherd, the media circus, once again we were the laughable Geordies, sacking or not sacking their returning Messiah amongst claims that its 2 latest signings were as well known to the manager*(Note manager not head coach or head of training) as Japanese Subway routes. I expected Ashley to run this club with a real sense of intelligence and integrity, I prayed that his stint at the Sunderland game was a one off, but gave him the benefit of the doubt when he began sitting with away fans, as maybe he was not a fan of the coporate side and wanted to get back to "Just going to the game." But the more I have watched this summer, the more I have become worried, when Keegan said 2 days before "Judge me at midnight" I had no confidence, not because it was Keegan, but because the ability to get the 4-5 needed is nigh impossible irrespective of the silence in transfer deals this summer such as Xisco, Nacho, Jonas and Colo. We now have to wait to January at least before even being able to add the squad, and even then there is no guarantee that money will be made available, with it seeming more likely Ashley has put the Milner money into his personal account. I am not stupid I know that no owner REALLY cares about the fans, The Glazers don't, the Arabs at City don't, Quinn and Gibson are exceptions, but by n large owners are not their to "Appease" the fans of a football club, they are to make money themselves, and often help the club progress forward, something I feel Ashley is not doing and ergo he must leave, I personally feel that despite his "Billionaire" status it was a bad idea from minute one, as unless stupid money (Which he wasn't willing to invest) was put into the club a lot of the doom mongers would tag him as "Tight" or under-spending, I am not stupid I do not expect Robinho on the tyne bridge with a black and white shirt, but what I do expect, is that when a chairman lays out a plan (A good one in my opinion to buy "Developmental players" then it should accordingly be followed through, something I feel it has not, alot of players have slipped through the net this summer, and that has frustrated me no end, the likes of Corluka who is a definite player for development, Felani of Everton, now if it is true that Keegan turned these p;layers down then I must apologise to Ashley, but I feel as much as I want to congratulate the man for being willing to buy such good prospects and talent I must also lambaste the man for putting in a place a manager that was not fully informed, and was lead in under false pretenses despite Ashley knowing that he was not up to the task of replacing a squad that needed building on, and was as much as I admire him, very much a keen motivator and player salesman, if anything I believe that Keegan would be better in Wise's role, as he has been known to sell many a player to the club, something that I feel Wise who has no prior ffiliation with the club either on a playing or coaching level is unable to do. So in conclusion, I think in all honesty, the further ploughing in off money to this club serves little to no purpose as our current inclusion of cash has done little to change the state of squad at our club. I called you stupid? When?...Where?....But I'm ok if you want to admit it I'm not gonna get into the whole Ashley debate coz a) I am not arguing that he is blameless on the points you take issue with b) I've done it too many times over the last few days. All I am saying is that boycotting NUFC merchandise is counterproductive and hurts the club

  11. Alongside the blatant, clear, definite improvement to the squad most were convinced of this time last year I guess we should be looking forward to taking one of those Champions League places. Choo Choo, all aboard the train to delusionville, first stop overrate new players city. Nobody said our team is good enough for a CL place. But if you seriously cant see the difference between our current first team and last year's, then no need to board the train mate....you're already in Delusionville!
  12. Would be a good appointment and possibly even a step up from Keagan but sadly some (majority) of our fans would prefer Curbishley or Gid forbid O'Leeaary purely on the basis that they've never heard of Terim before
  13. Yeah and NUFC definitely needs to move on from him, I didn't want him to go, but now that he has and we've seen the damage it's done to the club it would be far too dangerous for anyone to bring him back. Quite simply he shouldn't because jduging from current reaction, Keagen has become bigger than the club.
  14. Gosh I've given Ashley and the board the benefit of the doubt even as others were screaming for their heads but this statement is downright pathetic....talk bout warming up to the fans and striking a conciliatory stance.....should sack the PR officer, really.
  15. The truth is a lot of people are still thinking with their heart instead of their brain.
  16. I like how people suddenly believe the Mail coz it backs up their views of Ashley

    Dear Kevin Keegan

He's accomplished much here both as a player and a manager. Revolutionised the club during his first spell as manager, *and re-educated the team as to how to play football the right way during his brief second spell. *His influence over the closing stages of last season saved us from the relegation axe, and with this Mr Ashley's 'investment' was also kept afloat. *In essence this is my response to Baggio's thoughts 'that during his latest managerial spell KK has done nothing which is deserving of appreciation etc'. Keegan owes Mr Ashley nothing, likewise he doesn't owe us/the supporters anything either - especially the wankers who are drumming up this 'he's left us in the s**** for a second time' line. My sentiments about Keegan's departure. My respect for him - as a manager - would've diminished fractionally if he'd stayed while having his strings pulled by a set of puppeteers who deem themselves to be more important football-related figures than the manager. No manager, and he is 'old school, with any sense of professional integrity will just sit back while having their power to manage compromised ie. at the front-office level: transfer activity & coaching staff acquistions/dismissals. Keegan has walked away from an unambitious w***** in the form Ashley. He wants what's best for the club, he always has and his ability to take the club forward. He shouldn't be weighed down by the sort of lack of ambition not seen since McKeag's reign imo, when the latter funnelled off our best players. I refer to the board in the final hours of the transfer window and their attempt to flog/sell-off players currently in Keegan's 1st team frame, Owen in particular. He's walked away with his professional integrity intact and fair play to him. However for Newcastle-Upon-Thames it's a different kettle of fish. And from which source did you get the bit in bold which seems to be the basis for your assumption on the board? http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/index.php?topic=52796.msg1326676#msg1326676 This i posted a few months back, pertaining to Keegan's lack of involvement at front-office level. This was dismissed out of hand at the time, as 'overwritten bollocks' by Ozzie, when all the facts were 'not' readily available on the net. I formed a viewpoint/a stance based on intuition as to how a club should be run, as opposed reaching a conclusion pertaining to the pros & cons of our continental set-up based on set of Googlized links set in concrete. It's ironic that my intuition is once again being dismissed almost out of hand because all the facts have not been made available through Google. What's more ironic that this sort of line has once again being drummed up by another bloke, *yourself Alpal, who supported Souness' reign right up until the very end......................... yet my judgement on these issues are baseless assumptions. Irony works in funny ways . *Admittedly though you knew when it was right to jump off that particular sinking ship though . Original typo/or word accidently left out has been duly edited Alapal as it's one crux of this post. I mean the section placed in bold. Mate I have no problem with you having intuition but I do have a problem when you make a dramatic conclusion of the board based on your intuition that they wanted to sell Owen when there's no evidence of that at all....besides err your intuition. Even if the board wanted to sell Owen, isnt the fact that he is still here shows that your KK managed to veto that move and hence had teh final say. Btw, pls refrain from bullshitting bout my stance on Souness......I never supported him till the end, in fact I jumped ship right bout the middle point (think when Robert was left out from the UEFA Cup game). Is your accusation based on your intuition as well?

It just seems to me that it is manifestly unfair to make such a drastic conclusion that "KK is weighed down by the sort of lack of ambition not seen since McKeag's reign..." purely based on the specualtion that the board wanted to sell Owen.

  20. My only problem is that he knew that he wasnt in full control almost from the get go. He even gave an interview that he accepted the structure (wise, Jiminez and co). Unless things changed dramatically on the last few days, then KK has a share of the blame (a substantial part actually). If Colo and Jonas are the yarstick for the players we were buying, then by all means, Wise and Co have been doing exceptionally well. By all accounts we have a good squad and have made a superb start to the season. Being so much apart of us, surely KK can foresee the consequences of his resignation. Even if he didnt fully agree with the transfers (he has suffered the summer transfer window), surely for the sake of the club, he could just continue managing us and resign at a better time (end of season). Was managing 2/3 players that he didnt buy so painful that it was worth walking out from the club and leaving us in a state of utter disaster? How does the club benefit from this situation, are we in a better position because we now know that KK is standing for his principles, at best he earns more respect and adulation. Principles are important but sometimes you also have to look at the bigger picture and one should only stand by his principles if the consequences are immaterial. Had some other managers done this, I would have perhaps understood. But KK is no ordinary manager, given how close Keagen is to us, I expected more from him than to just stand by his principles with scant regards to the consequnces of his action.
  21. I'm bored with all this, if Asley and KK has the club's interest at heart, they should sort out things quickly and attend to the team. I just dont trust Terry Mac handling trainings.
  22. How is that different from now? The thing I really worry about is what happens when Abramovich (or our version of him) loses interest or in his case gets on the wrong side of Putin and ends up with a Polonium sandwich? Chelsea would be instantly totally f***ed. I'm really uncomfortable with the entire future of the club resting on a knife-edge at the whim of some billionaire. You don't get to be a billionaire by being nice remember, these are ruthless people and they wouldn't hesitate to bin NUFC if they felt the need to. There's going to be a global recession in the next few years, who knows what's going to happen to these people's fortunes. They don't even need to be in financial trouble, simple PR could do for us, too. What happens if times get hard in India and all this bloke's customers are suffering the pain, if they start to say "hang about we're f***ing skint yet the bloke who owns this company is chucking money about owning a foreign football team", then he could just f*** us off to placate them, it wouldn't be the first time something like that's happened. Apart from anything, being rich doesn't guarantee you anything, hands up those who think Citeh are going to win the league next season, I doubt they'll even come second actually. How much have Real won over the last few years? It's not as simple as people are making out, there are risks, big risks and it's far from a no-brainer. Sorry Indi, that doesnt make much sense. All this fear mongering of billionaires leaving the club to death is just that exactly. It is exactly because they treat football clubs as an investment, that they will continue supporting it. If they leave it to rot to death, then the value will drop and nobody will buy the club from them. That's a dent in their investment portfolio not to mention reputation. You don't become a billionaire by making poor investment decisions and neglecting the club (or pulling the plug as you put it) would rank as a very poor investment decision both financially and reputation wise (which is very important for these blokes). Being known as the billionaire who screwed NUFC (or a high profile Premiership club which we are) will look really bad on his CV and will have repercussions beyond his investment in the club. And no, I doubt Ambani's wealth is funded by the average Poor Indian consumers
  23. Hear hear, I can't wait to see the array of stars that may join City and their matches with the top 4 should be mouth watering, would love it if they take the piss out of the likes of Man Utd and Liverpool. If they break into the top 4, wont make much of a difference to us. We were never challenging the top 4 anyway (at least not in terms of final league standing), now just change top 4 to top 5. No salary/transfer cap bullshit, bring it on, let the free market bring the best players to the Premiership. Obviously it goes without saying that I'd love us to secure one such Arab investor too. News flash, winning honestly without splashing the dough passed us by like quite a few years and is never returning. Might as well make the best of it
