You actually watched the whole game again just to analyze Colo's game....oh my!

Unfortunately until the NUST provide evidence of similar backing then there's not a lot else to talk about. If they've nothing at all it would be surprising they've dragged it out this far. Dave, putting aside my negative perception of NUST, I think what they tried to do is to get sufficient number of fans to convince the corporate sector which in return will convince more fans and so on. That strategy may work in other areas but is extremely difficult when it comes to people committing cold cash, hence the long silence

I can't find that quote attributed to NUST. It originated on True Faith who were reporting on the NUST. http://www.true-faith.co.uk/tf/features.nsf/ab283684d03f231d80256b520047d321/05f16bc3fb51dd0e80257669007c3eba?OpenDocument Nice one Bob. You people are hard work sometimes. It's on the NUST website. Click under 'Read more about the campaign'. It's on the launch article from 9th November. Fifth paragraph down. http://www.nust.org.uk/the-ultimate-protest-confirmation-of-launch-of-the-yes-we-can-campaign Whey provide a link yourself in future. Even with the whole quote in google there's no returns of the NUST website. Verbatim from the article Bob mentioned "It is believed that this is the first stage of a 6 week campaign including advertisements, the opening of an advice shop in central Newcastle and the unveiling of high profile backers." Happy?

Great now we are having a debate about who it is that NUST were supposed to announce. I'm not sure what they said last. but I had the impression all along that today was supposed to be the big day (not all the big investors...just one would do to prove that this is a serious attempt). Funny thing is nobody reminded us that it was 'advisors' before the 15th, and now on the 15th, when it looks like no significant announcement will be made, all the excuses are coming out. f***ing hell Yup that facepalm refers nicely to NUST

I'm not as excited as some over this potential transfer. I'm always weary when a striker has to make a step up in the division. For 3M and given our limited funds, I see this as a risky deal which has a 50/50 chance of success. Yes he scored against Man U, but I'm not convinced that he can do that on a regular basis in the Championship let alone the Premiership.
-
Hard to disagree Should be starting every game, cant build consistancy coming off the bench with 10 mins left in each game Couldn't disagree more, whilst the lack of games may affect his rhythm, his days as a good striker is gone. As for his chances of going to the WC...he's toast

Agreed that Smith is better than Butt, never said they were of the same level, just that they are both crap when it comes to getting the midfield moving forward. Of course if we can have a striker and a good midfielder, then by all means, but in reality with Mike, we'll either get one or the other and in which case, I'd go for a central midfielder.
-
I'm quite happy to stick with Shola, Ranger, Carrol and Lovenkrads if it means we can get two centre midfielder who can pass on the deck and create some movement in our midfield area. IF we buy another striker, we probably won't get a midfielder or get one which is as crap as Butt/Smith

Having pointed that out yourself, you still ask me about his inadequacies...mental like Not surprised that you think so highly of him though
-
Never liked him, like any other bullies, he intimidates to cover his own inadequacies.

It helps when those players came through the academy and not spending a freaking single cent. You spectacularly missed my point, it matters not whether he bought them in multi million deals or inherited them from the Academy. My point was that he is blessed with so many outstanding players that it would be almost harder to fail. I have more respect for managers like Wenger who develop players to become superstars.

You'd feel really shit if he left in January!
-
It helps when you have the likes of Messi, Iniesta, Xavi and Puyol!

Think about that next time you have a dip in preformance. Yes because football management and everything else is the same isn't it? I like how those defending Hughes keeps on repeating that City lost only 2 games. Err what about the part of dropping points against the likes of Burnley, Birmingham, Bolton, Wigan, Hull? Doing well in the Premiership is not about losing few games, more important is registering wins. Spot on decision by the owners!
-
Like many I was interested to see how this would pan out and even willing to throw in my support if it was workable but I always believed that this was a delusional effort by fans thinking that buying and running a football club is as easy as installing and playing Championship Manager

Exactly Yorkie!

Does that mean you can only do it once and that's it? If you drop the people at ComeOnBoro a email they will try sort you out another 100% winner using different bookies. Thanks but even then surely they'll run out of combinations after you've done this several times...so it can't be a long term strategy...just when I thought I could resign!

From Soccernet...bye Hughes...good riddance of bad rubbish Former Inter Milan boss Roberto Mancini is set to take over from Mark Hughes as Manchester City manager, with an announcement expected at 1930 GMT confirming Hughes' departure. City's chairman, Khaldoon Al Mubarak, and owner, Sheikh Mansour, had grown disillusioned with City's poor form, having watched Hughes' side win just twice in eleven league games. Hughes oversaw City's 4-3 victory over Sunderland on Saturday but he is thought to have known about his sacking before the game, and appeared emotional at the end of the match, apparently waving goodbye to the home supporters.

Two or three = a lot? Ronaldo will post anything to make him look smart...don't you know...that's just his style of posting

Does that mean you can only do it once and that's it?

Did you actually watch any Man Utd games last season? Giggs was a class above a lot of the opposition he played against. He created a top five goal totally on his own by skinning two players in quick succession. He's still got it man and is a model professional. Did you actually watch any Man Utd games last season? Giggs was a class above a lot of the opposition he played against. He created a top five goal totally on his own by skinning two players in quick succession. He's still got it man and is a model professional. That is clearly an exaggeration, a class above a lot of the opposition my ass, he wasn't doing it against average defenders. Yes he can still pass the ball over 6 yards (most footballers with two legs can do that), but barring a few limited times, he could not beat defenders with his pace and dribbling anymore. No I don't follow Man Utd, since you do, tell how many goals did Giggs get last season and compare that with attacking midfielders /wingers in the top 8 teams.
-
On Giggs, don't really think he is that good anymore. Seems to be playing better this year but was quite useless the whole of last season. Can't dribble or make direct runs anymore, can't track back as much which means Rooney often has to cover for him. I don't even see him making that many telling passes either as mentioned in the quotation on the OP. If some people think Shearer stayed on for too long, Giggs has overstayed far longer.
-
Hmm, nah. Scholes and Neville are fans and Giggs has remained an important player right up until now. I don't think any of that's relevant to the point I'm making though. For example, Beckham was also a Man United fan. That wasn't Beckham's choice. What point are you making? That Neville, Scholes, Giggs and co should have put in transfer requests when they started playing less regularly? No not at all, I've never suggested that, have I. Players don't ever only leave clubs by submitting transfer requests. It's a wider point, I just think too many of the English players are settled in their comfort zone in this country, compared to other nations. That's a weird point to make if you ask me. Why move when you're playing for arguably the worlds biggest club, in the most popular league, and are regularly playing the likes of Barca/Inter/et. al in the Champions League? I can understand if you stay at say Wigan your entire career being stuck in a "comfort zone" but if you're playing the best you can for a club like Man Utd why would you even contemplate moving? Just for a change of scenery? Not worth it. Your point is only valid if you consider Man Utd as the undoubted best club in the world. I don't think moving to the likes of Barca, Real, and to a lesser degree Inter could be said to be a step back. I have more respect for Beckham than Giggs because he was willing (even if Fergie aided his departure) to start from scratch and prove himself at Real. It takes supreme confidence to be at the top of your game and decide to start over with a new club...not many players have that sort of confidence.

Should be on BBC Sport shouldn't they? Can't watch it there if you live outside UK Really...why? Can anyone provide me a link to the goal on BBC sport? I'm assuming that is legal since it is on BBC BBC has geographic restrictions in place and if the IP address is not in UK, then you can't watch the clips. blatant discrimination...talk about free flow of finformation! Can't be a copyright issue if some viewers can watch it
