  1. I have the same worry, not so much if we lose to Forest but the spill over effect. Knowing Newcastle, all it takes is for one screw up for everything to go tits up as everyone goes into panick overdrive.
  2. Any idea why Enrique did not start last night? Hope he will be available for this game!
  3. Haven't really seen Pele play so I'll go with Zidane. His style of play is unique so majestic. Like RVN said, when Zidane plays it's like you can hear the orchestra in the background.
  4. If true, I would tie him up in a dark room and let Barton on him for 5 minutes. Absolute cunt...what he did just took out two players (including himself if hand is injured) who could have played an important role in the run in. Also create a toxic environment just as we see the finishing line...I'm absolutely livid!
  5. Mick you twat, now I've missed out on the juicy stuff just coz I was a few minutes late
  6. Me. Ashley surprised me. Credit where it's due. Count me in too
  7. iirc they were against the name change but as they'd just launched the yes we can campaign they couldn't and didn't want to be seen as organising a protest against the club. I think it was more to do with the fact they got quite a bit of abuse for the protests they supposedly organised when Keegan f***ed off. They still supported and promoted the others that we going on via their website but they shyed away from going out and organising one themselves. Anyway it's just another example of the schizo criticism on here - they apparently protest and they're showing us up, they don't and they're not doing enough for the fans. Calm down man, the criticisms you mentioned are by different posters, surely you don't expect everyone on the forum to have the same views?
  8. Agree with your observations. Beckham's value to England is more outside the field than on it (though he would have still played a part and maybe got 1-2 assists). I can see Beckham playing that mentor sort of role as a player who has seen it all before to calm the nerves of some of the young ones who might be nervous playing in the first WC. The latest news indicates that Capello does want Beckham to play a role (not as a player obviously) in the World Cup, the role is still vague, but for someone like Capello to make that invitation says it all on Beckham's value to the England camp.
  9. This, I don't think England chances would be dramatically affected, but I like Beckham as a player and it's sad to see him not going. Disagree with those who said everything he did in the last 3 years for money, maybe LA Galazy but Milan was all about playing for England. Beckham to me symbolizes someone who never gives up and who went challenge comes back even stronger, in a philosophical sort of way its sad to see that even such a character can't overcome bad luck.
  10. He's right man, surely money obtained from selling players which are not spent on getting players in, are all going into Ashley's pockets!
  11. I guess it depends on what quality you are looking at in a midfielder. Beckham for me. Scholes was great but he is essentially a goal scoring attacking midfielder who can also arrive late in the box. Don't think that sets him apart from Gerrard and Lampard though maybe he was more consistent (Lampard was very consistent too under Mourinho). Beckham on the other hand was unique especially at his days in Man Utd. His crossing was the best probably in all the major leagues nevermind just England and that sets him apart. Yeah you can say that he is one trick pony but that one trick brought Man Utd plenty of goals including probably two of their most important against Bayern. Besides a midfielder should have minimal competence in all areas of play and Scholes is unbelievably shit at tackling, that alone disqualifies him for the top honour.
  12. Yay HTL (Shepherd) is back on the forum, now we can all look forward to plenty of threads on old board vs new board
  13. The drugs have kicked in :bng: Care to explain? Simple your views are different and unconventional, therefore you must be on drugs!
  14. I dont quite get it why so many people have problems with City's spending power. The reality is that all of the big 4 (yes even Arsenal in the beginning) spent huge sum of money to established the so called top 4 regime. Given current conditions, to me it is virtually impossible to get into the top 4 without spending some serious money and the fact that City has that spending power (to match the spending of the current top 4) is not something that I will hold against them. Besides big buys (in most cases) equals exciting international players which is all good for the fans.
  15. For me Man City just because I see getting into the top 4 as the gateway to challenge the dominance of the current big 4 (Chelsea, Man Utd, Arsenal and Liverpool) and the top 2 on a long term basis. It if was any other team getting the 4th spot, they won't have the financial muscle to dislodge the the traditional four and is just as likely to fall off the radar next season (back into top 8 perhaps). But for Man City, Champ League qualification, plus their financial power to get the big name players, and they would be challenging for the title starting next season onwards which would make the EPL more exciting. Viva la revolution!
  16. Wasn't he meant to be an impact signing, a players who could get us goals in this division immediately? If things go to plan we've only got three months left in the CCC so how long does he need (considering he's been playing in it all season already?) I wouldn't say I'm on his back, I just think he's a poor player even at this level and it bemuses me why we've signed him. That's funny Wullie. You've concluded that he is a poor player after a handful of games and that is not getting on his back? When a player comes good, we keep on saying that we need to give players more time, yet when a new player joins us, we forget all that and start the cycle again...amazing! I suspect that in your case it has more to deal with your zeal of proving that all Ashley's transfer dealings are crap notwithstanding the fact that we sit in 1st place. Don't get me wrong, all of us want better players but given our budget constraint, sometimes a bit more patience is needed. I say give him another 5 games at least.
  17. I like how some people just assumed that the 15k cap applies for the Premiership too and start criticizing and moaning purely on the basis of that assumption. So much negativity around.
  18. That's not saying much, no point him being on the plane if he is not match fit and up to his usual standard of play
  19. how bad is this ankle injury, can one be playing back to normal standards after 3 months like? All I ask for is for an injury free (first 11) world cup campaign for England....too much to ask for?
  20. Top post...quite a few of the people on here still have not got used to the fact that we are in the Championship. If we don't get the best (to their subjective mind), then the new signing is a bad one, never mind that they know very little of the new player. I don't know Best but am willing to give him 10 games before making my judgment
  21. No. Dont guess at something & then react to your guess, doesnt make a lotta sense I'm not guessing at all. You did say "ive rewatched the entire game & he did very little of note at all." So why did you rewatch the game?
