  1. and Terry edges it because he is so fantastically mobile?
  2. my opinion and in order when fit top 5 defenders in the Premiership 1st Woodgate - the best all round English centre half, on par with Rio with use of the ball, on par with Terry leap and heading wise and has the best anticipation out of the three - 2nd Terry - best leader from Centre back in the Premiership and absolutely dominant with ariel and one on one strength battles - 3nd Ferdinand - one of the best users of the ball from Centre back and arguably the best in defending the space in behind with his pace - 4th Gallas - great user of the ball in all back 4 positions, quick, reads the game well and the most adaptable defender in the Premiership - 5th Carvalho - great at covering and very clever in one on one battles but lacks the pace and being a athlete to be one of the best - -Toure, King, Vidic are also fantastic-
  3. Yeah but hes scored more goals at White Ian Haarte Lane then any other forward in the Premiership in the past 2-3 seasons. Only Robbie Keane comes close to him. That makes him the best forward in the league for sure.
  4. yeah thats what i put as my top 5 with the inclusion of Rooney who i said was a scorer of great goals rather then a great goal scorer which the stats would suggest
  5. Michael Owen? narrowly misses out im afraid. Better than all of your strikers. nope dont think so. mackems.gif got to love Spurs fans
  6. my opinion and in order when fit top 5 strikers in the Premiership 1st Henry -on par with Alan Shearer as the Premiership all time greatest striker- 2nd Owen - in terms of a last movement goal scorer he is the best- 3nd Rooney - scorer of great goals rather then a great goal scorer potentially can be with Shearer and Henry as greatest Premiership striker - 4th Drogba - the most powerful striker in the premiership- 5th Martins - the fastest and best two footed striker of a ball in the Premiership -
  7. two commanding centre backs and ball playing right back in Solano with Parker holding and breaking up the play the role he got player of the season for us under Souness, Dyer bombing on through central midfield and Milner and Duff with the width and service for Owen and Martins runs. ideally if we could get Jonathan Woodgate back in the Summer would be a fantastic addition to play alongside Steven Taylor but apart from that i like our fully fit first team maybe Gareth Bale left back also but in terms of a fit first 11 we don't need to spend millions and millions just Jonathan Woodgate and Gareth Bale would be great and a couple of impact players off the bench is what's needed to add to our fit first 16 to take the team to the next level. ------------------------ Given -------------------- ----------------------------------------------------- ------ Solano -- Taylor -- Onyewu -- Babayaro --------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------- Parker ------------- ------------------- Dyer -------------------------- ---- Milner ------------------------------ Duff -- -------------------------------------------------- ---------------- Owen -- Martins ------------ Subs: Krul, Bramble, Emre, N'Zogbia, Ameobi
  8. Firstly I didn't say anything about learning to score from Berbatov, Martins would do well to learn about movement and awareness from him. He times his runs really well, takes good angles, runs along the backline and nips behind the defence really well from what I've seen. He's a very intelligent footballer. Look at his header that Van Der Saar tipped over, the way he had a little glance back before going in for the ball - he's not just focused in on the ball, he knows what's going on around him and that helps a lot in his positioning and movement, an aspect of his game that is far superior to Martins' in my opinion. If the limit of your understanding of sports is the use of selective statistics may I recommend turning your attention to baseball. It'll suit you better. Very good post mate, your spot on. Berbatov's first touch, control and positioning is second to none. 12 goals this season isnt that bad. To bad he has a load of s**** around him and has to do all the work himself. do all the work himself? Berbatov has scored ZERO goals away from home for you guys maybe if he turned up away from home you guys would have a better away record and higher league place rather then dropping down the table like a stone thrown from the sky when fit Ledly King is your lynchpin and your man of consistency he is the man you should look to for as a example he is by far your best and most important player not this foreigner who has scored ZERO goals for you away from home and contributed very very little to trying to turn around your away form
  9. Christ. Nothing like putting heart before head. I thought it was a WUM, either that or we know that "scotty" posts on the forum. In case he does.......sod off in the summer. 8.5, 9 - he's either a WUM, or one of those who think that 7 OUT OF 10 is an average score. Maybe he scores matches for the Sun. most people rate 1-10 differently in terms of what they think is a average or poor number in a 1-10 score I am one of those who thinks 7 out of 10 is a average score for me 6.5 is somebody who had a less then average game lots of people score it differently by the way sorry for my ignorance but does WUM mean wind up merchant? I genuinely don't get it. between ZERO and TEN, how is 7 average? because half of 10 does not mean average like i said most people have a different view of average rate in a rating out of 10 anyway your main point was about my high rating of our Captains performance no? Yes, it was. he played very very well, but 9 out of 10?? yeah your probably right

O and he should learn from Berbatov all so fantastic work rate
  11. Martins needs to watch videos of Berbatov on where to make runs and how to score!!! this is Berbatov the guy thats scored ZERO goals away from home!!! mackems.gif and a mere 6 in total in the Premiership get him to watch videos of a proper number 9 Alan Shearer a guy that actually fired in lots of goals rather then that lazy foreigner you suggested

  14. Luque has started our last three Uefa Cup games, (Palermo, Celta Vigo, Frackfurt)
  15. any ideas if Emre is back from his mysterious injury for this Thursday? the two legs in one week with no Premiership game in between would be ideal for Emre to return to match fitness ala Duff, Babayaro. Harper -------------------------------------------------- --- Solano -- Taylor -- Bramble -- Babayaro --------------------------------------------------- ----------------- Butt --- Emre ---------------- --- Milner ----------------------------- Duff ---- ---------------------------- Luque --------------- ------------------ Martins --------------------- Subs: Krul, Ramage, Huntington, Parker, Dyer, Sibierski Prediction Zulte 0 v 2 Newcastle, Martins, Luque
  16. Ratings Harper - 6.5 - At fault for the goal, looked ok no way near the level of Shay Given un surprisingly. Taylor - 7 - out of position as a right back but dominant throughout in the air. Onyewu - 8.5 - superb performance on his home debut, everything in his zone he was dominant in the air and in the tackle. Bramble - 5.5 - got sucked out way too often and left the space for Bellamy to run into on numerous occasions. Babayaro - 7 - decent return however he needs his match fitness back. Nobby - 7.5 - same old Nobby neat and tidy and when there is a forward runner he picked him out. Butt - 6.5 - not at his usual, got far too tight therefore rolled over and over again. Parker - 9 - Colossal absolutely colossal overshadowed both Gerrard and Sissoko and was our most important and best player, not only did he win back the ball he used the ball fantastically spreading the play rather then his usual 10 yard and backwards passing. Milner - 7 - workhorse performance but lacked the delivery in this game. Dyer - 7 - caused Agger plenty of problems particularly first half with his movement and put Oba through for the goal. Martins - 7 - plenty of running and showing for the ball at key times but lacked service. (scored)
  17. its a crime we did not manage to get him on loan for this season when he was available. however listening to Woodgate comments about how he has still not decided his future despite Boro's bid being accepted and about seeing what his options are in the Summer i still think we have a good chance if we made a attempt to buy him permanently in the Summer. regards his ability he is arguably England best all round centre half when fit he simply has it all fantastic on the ball like Ferdinand, can leap and head on par with Terry, and his tackle is better then any English centre half. I for one would love a Jonathan Woodgate and Steven Taylor partnership at centre half for years to come.
  18. Interesting words from Roeder. I think he is spot on about what this club must "Aim" for during his time here, European football year in year out and 5th place however aiming to break the "Big four" like Sir Bobby did and hitting the likes of 3rd and 4th i feel is something that is beyond Roeder quality as a manager but not of a fully fit Newcastle United squad with a top manager like Sir Bobby Robson. Question is can Glen Roeder live up to his "Aim" of consistent European football?
  19. The questions: 1. At the start of the season what where your expectations, and are things going as you expected? after Glen Roeder pulled off the signings of Obafemi Martins and Damien Duff added to our first team over the Summer i felt bar injuries my expectations were 5th place the best team outside the "big 4" us having the un lucky injury crisis has made it difficult to achieve that target particularly as none of the other competitors have had to deal with such a injury crisis however we are level on points with our main rival for 5th Tottenham and we are not too far off Bolton who i feel are catch able just like last season so 5th place and the Uefa Cup we are still very much on course i feel. 2. Who's been your best performer this season? Scott Parker has been a colossal in terms of winning the ball back and breaking up attacks he is one of the best in the Premiership for me at doing that and has been fantastic for us this season other then that Obafemi Martins at just 22 years old is having a great first season in the Premiership he has banged in the goals and baring injuries i feel he could be the Premierships third top scorer behind Drogba and C.Ronaldo this season also James Milner who in terms of productivity has continued from last season with 9 assists for Villa for us now 8 assists and 4 goals he is becoming a huge part of our attacking play but for me Scott Parker has been our best and most consistent performer yet again. 3. And your worst/most disappointing? Michael Owen, Damien Duff both due to injurys, however both will be here for the next 4 years to show there true worth i feel. 4. You had a quiet January transfer window, if you where the manager, who would you have tried to sign? for me there where hardly any good deals in January and it was the best stratergy that we saved up for a big Summer, Jonathan Woodgate who when fit is arguably England's best all round centre half available for a mere £5 million must be brought to play alongside Steven Taylor apart from that compertion for places must be brought as i feel when everybody is fit we have a first team that should challenge for trophies and consistently be the 5th best team in the country year in year out. 5. What are your best and worst memories of our previous meetings? 4v3 at Anfield 6. Do you have any favourite/best chants (and perhaps any that require an explanation)? Blaydon Races 7. What?s the banter like between Newcastle and Liverpool fans at St James, would you say that the 2 sets of fans get on? Very good i think, I for one have a huge respect for Liverpool and its great history and also for there fantastic and special supporters. 8. In the summer, Liverpool and Newcastle are told to swap 3 first team regulars, who would you send to Liverpool, and who would you like from us? Don't like the question. 9. Liverpool have become the latest club to gain new owners, Newcastle have been mentioned as well as a likely candidate for a takeover. How do you feel about these take-overs by foreign owners, and would you like to see it happen at Newcastle? Good for some clubs however i am happy with our achievements under Freddy Shepherd and would not like a new board, we have been the 5th best team in Premiership history getting high places like 2nd, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th under Shepherd, Keegan, Sir Bobby Robson what other club bar the "Big 4" have had that? we are very much the 5th best club and best run club in the Premiership under Shepherd and i am very happy with Freddy and would not like foreign investment. 10. Care to predict Mr Roeder?s starting line up for the game? Harper -------------------------------------------------- --- Solano -- Taylor -- Onyewu -- Babayaro --------------------------------------------------- ----------------- Parker --- Butt ---------------- --- Milner ----------------------------- Duff ---- ---------------------------- Dyer --------------- ------------------ Martins --------------------- 11. And finally, let?s have your score predictions for the game: i think Rafa will go with 3-5-3 will be a tight game Butt and Parker against Alonso and Gerrard will be key also Milner and Duff will have a importent role against your formation, for you Bellamy(who i will stand up and applaud tomorrow) roaming as one of the 3 up front will curse havoc so two assists for Craig with Crouch and Kuyt scoring and i think Obafemi Martins will get goals off the wide service of Duff and Milner so 2 v 2 i predict. Newcastle United 2 v 2 Liverpool
  20. it shall be intresting to see if Woodgate accepts the contract how long is his contract at Real Madrid for? because its muted Madrid are going to change there manager at the end of the season so why not wait till the end of the loan deal then decide Real Madrid with a new manager and new ideas or Boro?
  21. James Milner has 4 assists and 2 goals in his last 3 games and now has 8 assists and 4 goals this season for Newcastle United so it begs the question is he England's most productive and in form Right Winger this season? for me he is this is the promising youngster Sir Bobby Robson brought in to replace Nobby Solano for Right Wing and hasn't he just gone on and done that yes he is under 21 but so is Aaron Lennon yet this season James Milner(8 assists and 4 goals) has been more productive then Aaron Lennon (goals 3 assists 5) and more productive then any other English Right Winger this season and also not forgetting he got 9 assists in total for Aston Villa last season compared to Aaron Lennon 3 assists so why oh why is Aaron Lennon in the England squad ahead of the more productive James Milner? is Pace more important then Productivity i ask? one thing is for sure is England in both James Milner and Aaron Lennon have two very special talents to go on and replace Beckham for Right Wing and we are very lucky to have one of them
  22. agree its a concern however with Milner having 4 assists and 2 goals in two games and Damien Duff return to the side and Dyer and Martins threatning teams through the middle i feel we will have too much attackingly for Fulham tomorrow thats the postive. as much as our back four is a concern and especially after them coming off their worst performance of the season in a lose to a relagation side i don't see them being too much of a big concern to our unsettled back 4 and dabuton Onyewu. i feel the Fulham game tomorrow has come at a great time and we need to make the most of that by getting the three points
