  1. interesting thread. however i am one who has called for Dyer to be given a Central Attacking role from central midfield and i maintain this is his best position. (wrote in another thread) "i saw in another thread people where saying Dyer was infective as a bombing on central midfielder against Aston Villa while he was not at his best on Wednesday i still feel this is his best position and Parker is a good partner when Michael Owen returns to partner Obafemi Martins i see Dyer and Parker being Roeder central two, a big feature of Sir Bobby successful sides was Dyer bombing on through the middle and Solano passing and link up and deliver off the right hand side and with the return to right back of Nobby tomorrow i am sure we will see a more effective Dyer tomorrow, for me its very important Solano and Dyer are in the same team as they link up fantastically." main point is i think Solano off the right hand side gives the delivery and passes Dyer likes when coming short to link up or bombing on while i agree he was disappointing in this role against Aston Villa i feel the absence of Nobby delivery and passes Dyer movement thrives on was a major factor. (to bring the debate up again) i thought tonight was a classic example of my thoughts of Kieron Dyer as a bombing on central midfielder and on how effective he can be in this role. the return of Nobby Solano passes from right back like i said was the key to Kieron Dyer thriving in this position his runs bombing on from central midfield were fantastic and very difficult for our opponents to play against and was a key tactical advantage for us. for me Kieron Dyer best position is bombing on from central midfield and with the return of Michael Owen to partner Obafemi Martins in the coming months i think we will see Kieron in this position rather then just playing off Martins like in recent months.
  2. As opposed to Carlos tevez who is terrible both home and away He hasnt been terrible. Berb is absolute rubbish away from WHL. Tevez has actually been quite impressive this season and as soon as he does score i think he'll be scoring quite often. so what away performane from tevez did you find impressive then? both Tevez and Berbatov have been as useless as each other away from home this season this thread is about the top 5/10 Strikers in the Premiership not the worse (KingDawson)
  3. ;D ;D ;D mackems.gif Dawson mackems.gif he was simply woeful when he came upto St James couple of months ago all be it Ledly King was not much better either
  4. and Terry edges it because he is so fantastically mobile? i said he no longer has an edge over Terry, which suggests the opposite of what you said. ah ok i thought you meant Woodgate has lost his mobility now so Terry and Carra now has the edge over Woodgate because of there mobility apologies
  5. and Terry edges it because he is so fantastically mobile?
  6. my opinion and in order when fit top 5 defenders in the Premiership 1st Woodgate - the best all round English centre half, on par with Rio with use of the ball, on par with Terry leap and heading wise and has the best anticipation out of the three - 2nd Terry - best leader from Centre back in the Premiership and absolutely dominant with ariel and one on one strength battles - 3nd Ferdinand - one of the best users of the ball from Centre back and arguably the best in defending the space in behind with his pace - 4th Gallas - great user of the ball in all back 4 positions, quick, reads the game well and the most adaptable defender in the Premiership - 5th Carvalho - great at covering and very clever in one on one battles but lacks the pace and being a athlete to be one of the best - -Toure, King, Vidic are also fantastic-
  7. Yeah but hes scored more goals at White Ian Haarte Lane then any other forward in the Premiership in the past 2-3 seasons. Only Robbie Keane comes close to him. That makes him the best forward in the league for sure.
  8. yeah thats what i put as my top 5 with the inclusion of Rooney who i said was a scorer of great goals rather then a great goal scorer which the stats would suggest
  9. Michael Owen? narrowly misses out im afraid. Better than all of your strikers. nope dont think so. mackems.gif got to love Spurs fans
  10. my opinion and in order when fit top 5 strikers in the Premiership 1st Henry -on par with Alan Shearer as the Premiership all time greatest striker- 2nd Owen - in terms of a last movement goal scorer he is the best- 3nd Rooney - scorer of great goals rather then a great goal scorer potentially can be with Shearer and Henry as greatest Premiership striker - 4th Drogba - the most powerful striker in the premiership- 5th Martins - the fastest and best two footed striker of a ball in the Premiership -
  11. two commanding centre backs and ball playing right back in Solano with Parker holding and breaking up the play the role he got player of the season for us under Souness, Dyer bombing on through central midfield and Milner and Duff with the width and service for Owen and Martins runs. ideally if we could get Jonathan Woodgate back in the Summer would be a fantastic addition to play alongside Steven Taylor but apart from that i like our fully fit first team maybe Gareth Bale left back also but in terms of a fit first 11 we don't need to spend millions and millions just Jonathan Woodgate and Gareth Bale would be great and a couple of impact players off the bench is what's needed to add to our fit first 16 to take the team to the next level. ------------------------ Given -------------------- ----------------------------------------------------- ------ Solano -- Taylor -- Onyewu -- Babayaro --------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------- Parker ------------- ------------------- Dyer -------------------------- ---- Milner ------------------------------ Duff -- -------------------------------------------------- ---------------- Owen -- Martins ------------ Subs: Krul, Bramble, Emre, N'Zogbia, Ameobi
  12. Firstly I didn't say anything about learning to score from Berbatov, Martins would do well to learn about movement and awareness from him. He times his runs really well, takes good angles, runs along the backline and nips behind the defence really well from what I've seen. He's a very intelligent footballer. Look at his header that Van Der Saar tipped over, the way he had a little glance back before going in for the ball - he's not just focused in on the ball, he knows what's going on around him and that helps a lot in his positioning and movement, an aspect of his game that is far superior to Martins' in my opinion. If the limit of your understanding of sports is the use of selective statistics may I recommend turning your attention to baseball. It'll suit you better. Very good post mate, your spot on. Berbatov's first touch, control and positioning is second to none. 12 goals this season isnt that bad. To bad he has a load of s**** around him and has to do all the work himself. do all the work himself? Berbatov has scored ZERO goals away from home for you guys maybe if he turned up away from home you guys would have a better away record and higher league place rather then dropping down the table like a stone thrown from the sky when fit Ledly King is your lynchpin and your man of consistency he is the man you should look to for as a example he is by far your best and most important player not this foreigner who has scored ZERO goals for you away from home and contributed very very little to trying to turn around your away form
  13. Christ. Nothing like putting heart before head. I thought it was a WUM, either that or we know that "scotty" posts on the forum. In case he does.......sod off in the summer. 8.5, 9 - he's either a WUM, or one of those who think that 7 OUT OF 10 is an average score. Maybe he scores matches for the Sun. most people rate 1-10 differently in terms of what they think is a average or poor number in a 1-10 score I am one of those who thinks 7 out of 10 is a average score for me 6.5 is somebody who had a less then average game lots of people score it differently by the way sorry for my ignorance but does WUM mean wind up merchant? I genuinely don't get it. between ZERO and TEN, how is 7 average? because half of 10 does not mean average like i said most people have a different view of average rate in a rating out of 10 anyway your main point was about my high rating of our Captains performance no? Yes, it was. he played very very well, but 9 out of 10?? yeah your probably right

O and he should learn from Berbatov all so fantastic work rate
  15. Martins needs to watch videos of Berbatov on where to make runs and how to score!!! this is Berbatov the guy thats scored ZERO goals away from home!!! mackems.gif and a mere 6 in total in the Premiership get him to watch videos of a proper number 9 Alan Shearer a guy that actually fired in lots of goals rather then that lazy foreigner you suggested

  18. Luque has started our last three Uefa Cup games, (Palermo, Celta Vigo, Frackfurt)
  19. any ideas if Emre is back from his mysterious injury for this Thursday? the two legs in one week with no Premiership game in between would be ideal for Emre to return to match fitness ala Duff, Babayaro. Harper -------------------------------------------------- --- Solano -- Taylor -- Bramble -- Babayaro --------------------------------------------------- ----------------- Butt --- Emre ---------------- --- Milner ----------------------------- Duff ---- ---------------------------- Luque --------------- ------------------ Martins --------------------- Subs: Krul, Ramage, Huntington, Parker, Dyer, Sibierski Prediction Zulte 0 v 2 Newcastle, Martins, Luque
  20. Ratings Harper - 6.5 - At fault for the goal, looked ok no way near the level of Shay Given un surprisingly. Taylor - 7 - out of position as a right back but dominant throughout in the air. Onyewu - 8.5 - superb performance on his home debut, everything in his zone he was dominant in the air and in the tackle. Bramble - 5.5 - got sucked out way too often and left the space for Bellamy to run into on numerous occasions. Babayaro - 7 - decent return however he needs his match fitness back. Nobby - 7.5 - same old Nobby neat and tidy and when there is a forward runner he picked him out. Butt - 6.5 - not at his usual, got far too tight therefore rolled over and over again. Parker - 9 - Colossal absolutely colossal overshadowed both Gerrard and Sissoko and was our most important and best player, not only did he win back the ball he used the ball fantastically spreading the play rather then his usual 10 yard and backwards passing. Milner - 7 - workhorse performance but lacked the delivery in this game. Dyer - 7 - caused Agger plenty of problems particularly first half with his movement and put Oba through for the goal. Martins - 7 - plenty of running and showing for the ball at key times but lacked service. (scored)
  21. its a crime we did not manage to get him on loan for this season when he was available. however listening to Woodgate comments about how he has still not decided his future despite Boro's bid being accepted and about seeing what his options are in the Summer i still think we have a good chance if we made a attempt to buy him permanently in the Summer. regards his ability he is arguably England best all round centre half when fit he simply has it all fantastic on the ball like Ferdinand, can leap and head on par with Terry, and his tackle is better then any English centre half. I for one would love a Jonathan Woodgate and Steven Taylor partnership at centre half for years to come.
  22. Interesting words from Roeder. I think he is spot on about what this club must "Aim" for during his time here, European football year in year out and 5th place however aiming to break the "Big four" like Sir Bobby did and hitting the likes of 3rd and 4th i feel is something that is beyond Roeder quality as a manager but not of a fully fit Newcastle United squad with a top manager like Sir Bobby Robson. Question is can Glen Roeder live up to his "Aim" of consistent European football?
