  1. always find it interesting when people have that stance on that one... however i have much more loyalty to someone (Bellamy) who actually did something really good for this football club and contributed hugely to the high times rather then someone who didn't and ruined it (Souness). i will never share Souness opinion on this one i am afraid.
  2. yeah i would have to agree with that point... however as Sir Bobby says you have to decide whether his ability over rides his antics (certainly did in Bellamy and Robert case as 4th 3ed and 5th suggests) but with Joey Barton its a difficult one however I really do think he is a fantastic player.
  3. Aye -The Mirror- is going for the same theme/exclusive Joey Barton IN Emre OUT... http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/tm_headline=joey-bartoon-%26method=full%26objectid=18351137%26siteid=94762-name_page.html both the big tabloids going for the same story i have to say i would be surprised if it happens however the prospect of Joey Barton and Scotty Parker tougher would be fantastic in my opinion. Joey Barton has 5 goals already this season and got 7 goals last season and has 1070 passes this season according to OPTA STATS the third highest amount of passes in the Premiership behind Xaxi Alonso and Fabregas personally i think Joey Barton is very under rated.
  4. Scott Parker holding and Joey Barton bombing on would be very effective in my opinion. if the rumors about Emre are true that Bayern Munich want him for around £8 million then i would cash in and buy Joey Barton for £6 million and have the holding options of Parker and Butt and bombing on options of Dyer and Barton. however January is not the time for this... i think Roeder will concentrate on bringing in players in positions we need like Defense and a Striker and not Joey Barton in January.
  5. come on admit it who voted Paul Robinson!!!
  6. what about Paul Robinson...
  7. Tough game here, when ever you play Bolton the key to getting a good result is how your full backs deal with Bolton long diagonal ball which often is aimed at Kevin Davies who gets himself positioned playing off the oppositions left back or right back and others like Nolan, Diouf, Speed, Anelka will look for the second balls. one thing i was very impressed with our own game was our percentages of winning second balls and 50/50's against Spurs. its very importent we do win as much second balls and 50/50's again against Bolton especially for the amount of second balls that come of Kevin Davies. Given Solano Taylor Ramage Babayaro Parker Dyer Milner Duff Sibierski Martins (Sub, Rossi, Emre, Butt, Huntington, Pav) Prediction Bolton 1 v 2 Newcastle United Anelka, Martins X2
  8. I agree... I said i think Taylor and Ramage should be given a run in the team back in Octobar before the Charlton match thread. not sure Roeder would of given Taylor and Ramage a chance tougher if Moore and Bramble had not got both injured at the same time however i am glad he is now recognising the talents of both Taylor and Ramage as a partnership and given it a good run. the dabate now is either does Roeder go for a big name/expensive partner for Steven Taylor in Janury or does he give this partnership the thumbs up and just buy somebody who could challenge either Taylor or Ramage position say somebody like Curtis Davies and spend the big money on another Striker?
  9. I was going to write something like this but you have said everything i was going to say and more. your posts i normally agree with also...
  10. Intresting we have beaten Chelsea 4 times in our last 6 games against them at St James Park, also a Quarter Final being one of those wins also at this time of year however dispite that if Roeder can come up with a game plan to win this with all the injuries/suspensions we have we will all be very impressed. Judging by reports it seems to me that Roeder will pick Duff at Left back due to the injuries and suspensions to both Babararo and Bernard, however for me our Midfield is our strength and when Duff and Milner are our wide men it gives us great balance so I would look at a different option at Left Back, Solano got moved to right back to fill in for injuries because his passing is fantastic and Emre is similar in that sense so I would slot him at left back for this match, however I think we would all agree neither Duff nor Emre is ideal at Left Back. we must base our game around our strengh thats our quality and balance in Midfield, put Dyer bombing on through central midfield with the deliver of both Solano right foot and Emre left foot from full back for Dyer runs/movement could be very effective and use Milner and Duff as width to stretch Chelsea very narrow team however i suspect Roeder will go with Duff at Left back and Dyer will be playing off the left. Given Solano Taylor Ramage Emre Dyer Parker Milner Duff Sibierski Martins Subs, Rossi, Luque, Butt(70 mins for Sibierski move Dyer up top for Oba and Dyer counter attacks), Huntington, Pav Prediction, Newcastle United 2 v 1 Chelsea, Martins x2, Wright-Phillips.
  11. no it was not after finishing 3rd it was after finishing 5th and getting us to the Uefa Cup Semi Final, sacking Sir Bobby Robson after either of them seasons in logic was absolutely ludicrous particularly as the guy (Souness) who was suppose to solve the so called dressing room problems (Myth) managed to get two of our own players (Dyer and Bowyer) to fight on the pitch and then finish 14th our worse ever Premiership finish all this after sacking a man (Sir Bobby) who got us 4th 3ed and 5th the seasons before. to think Souness and Bruce where the men Shepherd had in mind to move us into the next gear from 4th 3ed and 5th to higher and better things is shocking.
  12. Agree i have watched Bremen too and I think they will be the favourites for the Uefa Cup this season. however the Benfica would be a hard task other then that the other Champions League fall outs are very much beatable. with us getting to the Quarter Final and Semi Final of the Uefa Cup in recent years i would imagine us getting to the Quarters at the very least this season.
  13. I am not a big fan of buying players in January I feel you get the best ones in the Summer window, however Roeder Squad needs strengthening and the priorities in January in my opinion should be a Centre Back and a Striker. In terms of looking for a Striker Roeder should be looking for a complementary partner for Obafemi Martins and Michael Owen who will be returning in March, for me I see Alan Smith as a perfect partner for either Owen or Martins and with the situation at Manchester United getting Larsson and the return of Rossi maybe a tempting offer of £6 million could well persuade Ferguson to let him go. In terms of a Centre Back, in my opinion we should be looking for a partner for Steven Taylor for him to learn from persuading Woodgate to join in the Summer would have been the answer however that was not meant to be so looking around in January it sounds like Upson is looking for a move and also with Bryan Robson leaving West Brom I would imagine buying Curtis Davies would be a easier task. If Upson and Davies are not the answer maybe trying to get a experienced defender like Laisao of Benfica? I have watched him on many occasions in the Champions League for Benfica and with Benfica being knocked out the Champions League last night maybe getting him in January for say £5-6 million could be a possibility for Roeder, other then that I always thought Alberto Luque could be a key exchange player if we wanted to get Andrade a centre back for Deportivo for a cheaper price, Andrade has been trying to get a move away from Deportivo for some time so that could be a possibility in January. It will be interesting to see who Roeder actually goes for and how much he will be allowed to spend.
  14. It was Wally Downes who taunted Emre, Reading assistant manager approached Emre as he was coming off at half time and he had the cheek to have another go at Emre when he was coming off at the end to the Tunnel and Roeder went over to Emre and told him not to react. I have seen Wally Downes on Sky Sports News before when he doing a interview for the Fa Cup drew when he was manager of Brentford and his views are of a little ignorant cockney tw** was saying stuff like I would hate to get a draw up north and stuff he is just a low life. Just glad it was Emre who sent Wally Downes south with no points.
  15. If Obafemi Martins has anything about him then he will step up for our penalty's
  16. yeah thats why he should not start bluesigh.gif both Parker and Dyer will start on Saturday i bet, its typical Roeder like i said
  17. risking them by being on the bench? as i said what my problam is Roeder having this "i don’t rush players back" thing its ok if the players respect it but like i said its obvious the likes of Carr, Bernard, and particularly Babayaro are taking the p*ss something that should not be tolerated at Newcastle United. it seems people have got used to this recurring theme under Roeder
  18. I think Roeder should of used both Dyer and Parker as Bench players tonight they might not be 100% but neither have serious injuries and probably both will be in the team on Saturday. I find it strange Roeder leaves them out completely like he does in the Uefa Cup games giving us a very weak and young bench. one of Roeder's "i dont rush players back" things again i guess, no wonder Baba, Carr and Bernard are consistently taking the p*ss
  19. Either that or i would not be surprised if we try and make a big bid to buy Alan Smith, he would be the type of forward Glen is looking for strengh and can hold up the ball and would be a ideal partner for Obafemi Martins or when Micheal Owen returns in March.
  20. I saw a intresting Stat today that we have conceded just 6 goals in 12 games which is very good considering people suggest its the most weak part of our team.
  21. It would not surprise me if Glen Roeder decides to play a version of 4-3-3 system again that he started with against Celta Vigo at home couple of weeks ago (anyone know if he did the same against Palermo?) for this game in Frackfurt tonight. I think Roeder will be looking to rest Martins, Dyer, Parker for this European tie with Reading game in 6 days in mind so as usual in Europe this season it gives a chance for the likes of Siberski, Butt and Luque to play. If Roeder does decide to play the version of a 4-3-3 system he started with against Celta Vigo for tonight’s game then it would suggest Roeder now has a Plan B which is a positive thing because I was doubting his forward thinking, could be a good thing if Roeder decides on playing the 4-3-3 system in Europe again as I think it suites Alberto Luque game who played that inside left winger role for Deportivo and also Milner has the qualities to be good as a inside right winger too and I think Siberski is capable of playing that one central striker up front tonight which will be helpful because it means we can rest Obafemi Martins. Given Ramage Bramble Taylor Babayaro Butt Solano Emre Milner Luque Sibierski Subs, Martins, Dyer, N'Zogbia, Parker, Ramage, Huntington, Foster don't get why Roeder has not taken Dyer and Parker to be on the bench in Frankfurt just in case it seems strange to me especially with the likely bench we now will have without them seems very risky it will be intresting to see what Roeder actually goes with tonight Frankfurt - 1 - V - 2 - Newcastle United
  22. it makes me laugh how so many people just slag a player off just because others are doing it, our supporters should be better then that... on the debate about whether Noberto Solano should keep his place at right back instead of Carr i would so no if Steven Carr is fully fit for Sunday However i did think Solano was superb tonight at right back, he is very clever player who surprisingly seems to know when to press and when to cover in the right back position which for a natural midfield is unique, one of the things that makes Solano such a good player though that will never leave him despite his age is his cleverness he knows when to pass it and where. For me Steven Carr a natural overlapping full back is the perfect player to play right back behind a Solano type winger because Nobby prefers to get it and then pass and likes a runner instead him (Dyer) and a runner outside of him (Carr) with a run of games i think this could be a strong part of our team whats stopping this from happening is the progression of James Milner the guy Sir Bobby signed to replace Nobby however at this moment I think Milner along with N’Zogbia are better players off the bench changing games in the last 20 rather then starting in front of Damien Duff and Nobby Solano.
  23. How can you describe the man... Umberlivable... Sir Bobby Robson CV is up there with the best British managers of all time (9 Major Trophies, Fa Cup, Uefa Cup, Dutch Title x2, Portuguese Title x2, Portuguese Fa Cup, European Cup Winners Cup, Spanish Fa Cup) Bill Nicholson (8 Major Trophies), Bob Paisley(13 Major Trophies), Sir Alex (17 Major Trophies), Brain Clough ( 8 Major Trophies), Matt Busby (8 Trophies) he certainly is in the list of Top British managers of all time. The man is phonominal he has come through 3 Cancer scares and two serious Cancer surgeries and yet he still wants to add to his fantastic CV… he’s just a incredible story. its no surprise people around him endeavour to rise there game for him as Terry Buther famously once said "You feel like you are going to go through a brick wall for him, you want to do things beyond the normal for Bobby Robson" he certainly has that special aura about him its just incredible this club had the privilege to have him as our manager. Sir Bobby really is a example to us all... not only a great manager but a truly great person who still endeavours for more hopefully one day this club will recover from his sacking and make us proud of this once proud football club Thanks for the High times Sir Bobby keep healthy and keep doing what you do best because the football world is a better place with you
