1. Que Freddy Shepherd saying its Sir Bobby Robson fault.....
2. 6 goals, 4 assists. One of them a penalty. And the team is built around him, and he takes the penalties and all the other set pieces. Btw, his 4 assists this season: -Corner for Dunne at home to Middlesbrough -Break from midfield and shift to Corradi at home to Fulham -Interception and thru-ball for Mpenza away to Middlesbrough -Thru-ball for Beasley away to Fulham So if you want to do the double over Fulham and Boro, he's your man Seriously tho, he's nowt special. Just a decent player with a bit of pace and a good engine so he can join the attack (even in our ultra-defensive team). Some people here are seriously overrating him...they need to take a look at our goalscoring record this season more due to the sh*t around him...
3. Don't agree. It seems alot of people don't seem to recognize Joey Barton effectiveness as a forward going midfield player if you look at it statistically he has got 7 goals this season and 5 assists and last season he got 6 goals and 6 assists something this club has lacked for some time since Rob Lee. On your point about helping Obafemi Martins and Michael Owen, Joey Barton can by not only his ability to support the front two with the amount of forward runs he makes but also by providing like he has in the past 5 assists this season and 6 assists last. I agree HTL point about Barton being a better forward going player but thats not our Captain best role his best role is breaking up the play and winning back the ball for the team this is proven by the Opta Stats this season as he has not only had the highest tackling rate this season in the whole of the Premiership but also the 2nd highest tackling success rate in the Premiership. -Back to Joey Barton- the Vital thing if Big Sam does want him is that he can back up signing the bad personality that comes with Joey Barton by getting 3rd, 4th, 5th like Sir Bobby did with the similar personalities in the dressing room (Bellamy), if he can't then signing him could prove to course big problems.
4. I think Joey Barton as a footballer would be a fantastic signing. His personality is a obvious concern can Big Sam back up signing his personality by getting 3rd, 4th, 5th like Sir Bobby did with the similar personalities in the dressing room (Bellamy) On the Pitch i think Joey Barton and Scott Parker would be a fantastic Centre two in my opinion as much as i love Emre as a player the balance of Joey Barton bombing on with Parker breaking up the play would be a powerful centre two.
5. Always find it funny. Freddy Shepherd AIM is everything he got under Sir Bobby Robson. - Top 6 consistently - 3rd, 4th, 5th - - European qualification consistently - Champions League and Uefa Cup - - Challenging for trophies - Uefa Cup Semi Final and Fa Cup Semi Final - ..... The c**ts he has appointed since 14th, 7th, 13th. With no European qualification this season. Be interesting to see if Big Sam can stop the rot of sh*t Shepherd has got this club in since the sacking of Sir Bobby Robson.
6. Still if Big Sam decides to keep Onyewu or Bramble i think he will still want to buy a Top (in the Woodgate mold like under Sir Bobby) partner for Steven Taylor and that will be his priority this Summer.
7. I think Big Sam will try and make Onyewu a permanent signing. He is a huge figure, powerful strength, and very strong in the air and Sam Allardyce will be impressed with his extreme long throw. I think buying Onyewu age 24 at £3-4 million is a better bet then keeping Bramble on with a new contract.
8. haha is this guy for real? it will be just like when Sir Bobby Robson left us you won't get the High league positions for a long long time now Big Sam has left. Big Sam will be looked at as a even more of a legend for your club in 5 years time because you will realize what a fantastic job he did for you. good luck with your hopes off good football next season!
9. mackems.gif Once again you support leaving out Butt, who is a strong candidate for our player of the season, in favour of your favourite player who just happens to be hopeless. Scott Parker has decided to have surgery on a injury that has had trouble with for months so is out of the Match today anyway. Still hopefully a attacking approach for our last game of the season with not much at risk, Butt breaking up the play with Dyer bombing on through the middle with the two out and out Wingers of Milner is his best position on the Right and N'Zogbia on the Left. Given Solano Onyewu Taylor Babayaro Milner Dyer Butt N'Zogbia Owen Martins Subs- Krull, Carr, Bramble, Luque, Ameobi and your team HTL you are hoping for?
10. I know a few lads who would:Ruud,Robson,Souey Aye key and most important difference is Sir Bobby Robson would get 3rd, 4th, 5th after over spending that much on a player.
11. HA HA HA!!! As soon as he got his ££££'s off Shep he was back sitting next to him at the match. ........
12. Hopefully a attacking approach for our last game of the season with not much at risk, Parker breaking up the play with Dyer bombing on through the middle with the two out and out Wingers of Milner is his best position on the Right and N'Zogbia on the Left. Given Solano Onyewu Taylor Babayaro Milner Dyer Parker N'Zogbia Owen Martins Subs- Krull, Carr, Butt, Luque, Ameobi
13. We need a manager who has got a club 3rd, 4th and 5th and challenged for trophies Fa Cup Semi Final and Uefa Cup Semi Final in recent Premiership history. = Sir Bobby Robson
14. (I want to start match threads next season ) - on the forum not the main site as somebody does a fantastic job on that already - Its Win or Bust against Blackburn this Saturday for Newcastle United European dreams. With Newcastle still in with a chance of beating Blackburn for a place that could lead to Uefa Cup Football the equation beating Blackburn at home on Saturday and Blackburn lose away to Tottenham in mid-week and Newcastle win at relegated Watford on the last day then Roeder side pip Blackburn to a place that could lead to Uefa Cup Football for next season. On Blackburn- they are coming off a big 4v1 victory with the aim of coming up to St James this weekend with the assentive only needing a point to stop Newcastle catching them for a European place, there main man this season has been David Bentley he will provide the delivery off the Right for the power of Jason Roberts up top and the predator instincts of 15 goal man Benni McCarthy. On Newcastle- it will be interesting to see who and how Glen Roeder will decide to play with both Emre and Sibieski picking up injuries that will rule them out for the season, possible returns are Nicky Butt and our captain Scott Parker either returns will be very much needed due to the very weak centre midfield showing away on Monday night due to a lack of a defensive midfielder. - The positives are on Saturday St James will see for the first time the much awaited start of the partnership of Michael Owen and Obafemi Martins. - It will be interesting to see whether Roeder will continue to play our main form of assists in James Milner (8 assists off the Right) out of position on the Left. - My thoughts on what i would like to see. - St James needs to see more attacking side from Roeder that they have seen all this season, its important Roeder plays both Wingers at home on Saturday, James Milner needs to return to his Right Wing position a position in which he has got most of his 8 assists from and N'Zogbia now with the injury to Duff needs to have the chance in his best position not central midfield but Left Wing to show us why he should be picked ahead of Damien Duff next season, playing two Wingers will give the movement of Keiron Dyer through the middle space in which to run into to support and provide for Obafemi Martins and Michael Owen to flourish. Harper Solano Onyewu Taylor Babayaro Milner Dyer Parker N'Zogbia Owen Martins Subs; Krul, Carr, Butt, Luque, Ameobi Prediction- providing a more attacking approach by Roeder selection- Newcastle United 3 v 1 Blackburn OwenX2, Martins
15. The shirt design in my DP was the shirt i was told a long time ago was going to be the design for the new kit. Difference being from this seasons one is, 2 black stripes instead of 3 in the middle (back and front) and white numbering at the back with black for the name instead of this season gold numbering and lettering. I was pleased with the design. However for some reason they have gone for a different design which i think looks appalling. Any ideas how many seasons we have the new shirt design for?
16. Have to finish above Blackburn to end up playing Uefa Cup football next season which is not impossible. Thats 3 wins. Blackburn have Tottenham and Newcastle away. Its possible we can be playing Uefa Cup Football next season, Watford we should get 3 points as they are relegated, Key is tonight's game against Reading we need to pull out a big away performance and get the 3 points and beat Blackburn at home. Impossible? no... Buts its going to be very hard now.
17. It would be a fantastic day for this Club if Freddy Shepherd could get Sir Bobby Robson to be Director Of Football. Should of been given the position after his manager role.
18. Its interesting Roeder has played both Emre and Milner out of position on the Left and not tried Dyer coming in off the Left yet such is his obsession playing players out of position. I think its very important James Milner starts in his best position which is Right Wing, after all he has got most of his 8 assists from the Right and enjoys his relationship with Solano passes getting him in a good position to deliver from the right. Also i think its important that Emre plays throw the middle continuing on from his performance against Chelsea in this role. Roeder must play N'Zogbia in his best position tonight that is Left Wing. I really hope we dont see another Tactical f*** up like away to Portsmouth just a few weeks ago where Roeder had to change back to 4-4-2 at Half Time and playing N'Zogbia in a un familiar role first half. I dont like to criticizes Roeder but a repeat of his own mistakes in his tactics and selections away to Portsmouth can not be repeated.
19. Aye your right and its Stephen Hunt... Are you a Reading season ticket holder, and what do you expect Steve Coppel to go with against Newcastle United tonight?

Agree. Also a perfect foil for either Michael Owen or Obafemi Martins. Can score "Centre forward goals" as he showed last week with his towering header against Man United he also has a good touch and will provide goals for either Owen or Martins. Much better signing on a free then Sibierski and also a better 3rd choice Striker. Roeder seems to have faith in Ameobi for next season however.
21. This certainly a must win game if we are to pip Blackburn for a place that will lead to Uefa Cup Football. On Reading- i have been hugely impressed with Steve Coppel side this season, there strength is the service from Wide with the runner of Hunt on the Left and the delivery of Seol on the right who will look to provide in swinging crosses, stopping the consistent service to Kevin Doyle is key. On Newcastle- it will be interesting to see who and how Glen Roeder will decide to play with the return to fitness of Michael Owen, Ameobi and Parker and the likes of N'Zogbia and Babayaro both knocking on the door for a place in the team. - Providing fitness the return of Michael Owen and our Captain Scott Parker should be a huge boost to our side. - I've stated before that i believe Onyewu and N'Zogbia should both get runs in the side, Onyewu next to Steven Taylor can be a dominant partnership strengh and and ariel wise the game at home to Liverpool particularly stand out when they have been partnered, but they really need a run as a partnership for the maybe "future partnership" to flourish. - With Charles N'Zogbia when the injury to Damien Duff happened thats when Roeder should of started Charles run in the side in his best position Left Wing not in the Centre away to Portsmouth hopefully Charles will start in his best position against Reading. - For me its a perfect opportunity on Monday to drop Kieron Dyer somebody i rate highly and massively value his ability he offers to our team but he has been woeful in his last two games at St James a shadow of himself having him dropped to the bench and using him as a impact player and fresh legs could be just what we need something we haven't had all season to change games with impact players coming off the bench for the last 20 minutes with the return of Michael Owen to partner Obafemi Martins up top it could give Glen Roeder the opportunity to use Dyer in this role. - My thoughts on who i would start, pairing Steven Taylor and Onyewu it gives us a partnership that is dominant ariely and both have great strengh we will need that with the amount of balls from wide from Reading, Parker will need to double up when Reading's Wingers are running at our full backs and also stopping the forward runs of Sidwell, Emre will have a huge part setting up moves with his passing its inportent he starts through the middle, the pace of N'Zogbia on the Left should give a ageing De La Cruz something to worry about and the delivery from the right off Milner should provide the service in the box for Michael Owen and Obafemi Martins to thrive. Harper Solano Onyewu Taylor Babayaro Milner Parker Emre N'Zogbia Owen Martins Subs; Krul, Carr, Butt ,Dyer on for Owen 65 minutes, Ameobi Prediction- Reading 1 v 3 Newcastle Owenx2, Martins
22. It's good business, I'd say, especially if we're keeping Parker, Butt and Emre. There should ideally be two players challenging for every position and I'm not convinced that Dyer is a good enough option in the centre to be considered a genuine contender there when everyone's fit. With N'Zogbia potentially leaving as well, the midfield options will be reduced further and so Sidwell seems a sensible buy. If we only buy him and if N'Zogbia goes, then I couldn't help but feel worried because that would equate to us becoming weaker numbers-wise, rather than stronger in regards to cover for the positions. I suppose it all depends on how Roeder wants us to play next season and how he envisages the formation panning out, but I don't see the harm in bringing in a decent player on a free if he strengthens the squad: which Sidwell will undoubtedly do. The problems come when there are players who aren't getting picked because of the size of the squad, not when they're simply injured. Glenn hasn't really had to deal with that situation yet, which does not bode well. Interesting. I'd agree its good business as he is free and been a consistent and big performer this season however with Michael Owen back next season to partner Obafemi Martins i think Dyer role will change next season i think Roeder will use him as a attacking central midfielder next to most likely a ball winner in Parker or a holder in Nicky Butt, however like you said adding Sidwell to the equation would be good business and squad wise.
