    Emre

I can't help being consistently disappointed with Emre. He has given us nothing for months and months consistently injured and on his return to playing for Turkey he gives out quotes saying he would like a move back to Turkey in January before he has even returned for us or given us any sort of commitment or quality on the pitch for a good number of games. Fantastically gifted player but you have to question will we ever see him one playing consistently without getting injured and two showing the form that he made his name for at Inter Milan.
  2. I think a lot of people under value James Milner delivery and productivity he adds to our team. Lets not forget its the same James Milner who got 11 assists last season and 9 assists the season before in all competitions, yes he may not have the pace of a Lennon but in terms of delivery and productivity he has been up there with the best statistically for the last couple of seasons now. I am a big supporter of him and in terms of assists and delivery from wide he is and has been our most important player who lets not forget is still developing as a player. Also as someone pointed out his ability to deliver from either foot from either the Left Wing or Right Wing is very hard to defend against and is a very rare quality which is something he has over most other wingers along with his assists stats. I think certainly its vital for the goals of Viduka, Martins, Owen this season for Milner delivery to be in the team.
  3. Hopefully Defensively should see Jose Enrique debut we can't keep getting away with N'Zogbia there for the good of the team and the player himself and I think it would be a disaster waiting to happen to play Carr up against the pace of Ashley Young so hopefully Geremi goes Right Back as is expected anyway when Joey Barton returns. Attacking wise Solano technique and passing is needed at Home another performance like his one at St James against Celtic in pre season should give Martins and Viduka good service along with Milner good delivery from the Left of late. Harper Geremi Rozehnal Taylor Enrique Solano Smith Butt Milner Martins Viduka Subs: Forster Cacapa N'Zogbia Dyer Owen Owen, Dyer, N'Zogbia three fantastic attacking options off the bench Newcastle 3 v 1 Aston Villa Martins x2 Viduka - Carew
  4. Sounds like West Ham wanted him before they brought Faubert and Ljungberg (both right wingers) Can't see West Ham going back in for him now they have brought others for the Right Wing position.
  5. You have just "archived" top 7 twice consecutively for the first time in your Premiership history and will be playing Uefa Cup football for the 2nd time in 12 years and your on some wa*k session! The "Big Club" list category is of Premiership history (playing history) and (fixed assets) - Size of club Our (Playing history) top 5 positions archived in the Premiership is 2nd, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th. And yours? And our fixed assets are far greater then yours. Newcastle United have been/are a bigger Premiership club but your in around the same category of the list above. I'm sorry but where specifically in that do I state that Spurs are a bigger club than Newcastle or that Newcastle are bigger than Spurs. How am I having a w*** fest? I wasn't even talking about size of the club, I was talking of the ability to challenge for 4th spot. Currently, I think we are the only ones who are capable with the current squad but other clubs may make additions to the squad that will change my mind. And where you have come in the relatively distant past ie 5 years ago doesn't paricularly affect anything now. Look at Leeds as an example, 4th and then 5th while reaching CL semis and now in league 1. Why are you talking about Spurs having the best chance of breaking the top 4? Firstly not many people will dispute that and secondly this thread isn't even about that, it's about how people determine how they rank a club in terms of size. Exactly. Where I come in (about 5 years ago) clearly does effect size of club (the actually Topic) you donut.

  7. Pack your bags Douglas Hall!!!! Well done Mike Ashley!
  8. First Van Nistalrooy now Henry given up on Alan Shearer Premiership record goal scorer. Alan has only Michael Owen to worry about now. On Henry replacement I think its very likely they will move for Trézéguet from Juve.
  9. The new away kit is a massive improvement on last season thats for sure.
  10. Great news on both. The Dutch keeper Krul showed against Pelermo in the Uefa Cup he has great promise for his age and Solano I thought was one of our most consistent players last season. Big credit to Roeder for rejuvenating Solano in a new Righ-Back role, it will be interesting to see where Big Sam views Solano next season Right-Back or Right Wing. I personally would like to see him back in his Right Wing role next season giving James Milner healthy competition and for us to buy a first choice Right Back, Nobby is far too creative to be playing so far deep and for the last 6 years he has been our main provider of assists playing Right Side.
  11. The Dutch lad Julian Jenner looks a super prospect, really impressed me in the two legs against us for AZ Alkmaar too. Would be a fantastic signing for a Premiership club in need of a Right-Winger... great two footed dribbler and moves so well good delivery also.
  12. Yess! then he can score a mighty 12 goals for us! On a serious note I will be surprised if anyone bids over £20 million for a guy thats scored 12 goals last season in his league. You would of thought its the Agent over hyping this fella but its the press. I think he will be at Tottenham next season.
  13. Did Big Sam sign Ricardo Vaz Te after watching him for Portugal in the U21 Tournament last time? I would of thought he is sending scouts over for this U21 Tournament, hopefully they will find a exciting Left Back and a Right Back.

    Club Captain

Totally agree with your points. I think Shay Given for me is the outstanding candidate in his testimonial year. Steven Taylor certainly has all the attributes for me to succeed him. Would be disappointed to see Nobby Solano get the Captains armband.
  15. 4th Top Goalscorer in the league last season signing on a free represents fantastic business. Most importantly he is a fantastic complementary partner to Michael Owen and Obafemi Martins both will thrive off of his link up play.
  16. David Dein would be a fantastic appointment to the board. Did marvelous things as Chief Executive at Arsenal and consistently represented his club in good light, i know he tried to get Sir Bobby Robson after he Won the Portuguese league and Cup double at Porto to replace Graham at Arsenal in 1995 which would of been fantastic for them. David Dein being offered the job of Chief Executive would prove to be very good for Newcastle United can only see this happening however if Shepherd is to sell up to Ashley there is no way David Dein would be allowed to work under Shepherd.
  17. Agree Would be a terrific signing and more so a terrific complementary partner for either Michael Owen or Obafemi Martins.
  18. No we were in for him then Chelsea came in and offered higher wages so he went there ahead of us similar to the Zenden situation in that period still managed to finish above them that season though.
  19. Carragher is still very ordinary as a full-back. You're right that he's a bit iffy in the transfer market. He spunked piles of cash on rubbish, and then refused to accept that they were rubbish. Good manager, though, with a canny knack of beating ManU. And high finishes Title runners up ect ect and won lots of trophies Uefa Cup, Fa Cup ect ect Manchester City should go all out to get Houllier in my opinion would be fantastic appointment for them.
  20. Houllier has such a impressive CV. Would be a fantastic appointment for Manchester City certainly an improvement on Stuart Pearce.
  21. I don't know about that (Jol and Comoli) spending £8million on the likes of Kaboul and previously Zakora at £8 million and Jenas at £9 million does not suggest to me that they could spend the £27 million "well" and "push on" to break the "Big 4 Clubs". Martin Jol is yet to prove he can buy two catalysts signings to compete and finish above the "Big 4 clubs" of Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal like Sir Bobby Robson did for us with (Robert and Bellamy). I think losing Carrick in a similar scenario last Summer was a huge blow for Spurs aspirations of breaking the "Big 4 clubs" despite earning £17 million off of the deal I think it would be exactly the same were they to lose Berbatov for £27 million. £27 million however i think would certainly help them to consistently finish in the Top 6 something they have done consecutively in the last two season for the first time in there Premiership history.
  22. Gareth Bale looks like one of the Best Young British prospects from what i have seen as a player he is quite remarkable for his age, wonderful cultured left foot and gets forward so well he will be a fantastic signing for any of the Top Clubs. I would imagine Spurs are trying to out bid everyone because they know when Bale is up for a free transfer in 1 years time they will not be able to compete one on one with "the Big 4" or Newcastle United in recent history for his signature. Wonderful signing if Tottenham can out bid everyone though.
  23. Someone has been reading the cockney press My opinion is the hype for a guy that has scored 12 league goals "signing of the season" "team of the season' ect ect is amazing you would think Berbatov scored 30 league goals in two consecutive seasons like Shearer did
  24. aye comparing a player who got 11 goals in the league to one that got 12 in the league is a bit unfair. Especially if the one who scored more is apparently a worse goal scorer... It took "signing of the season" Berbatov a whole 5 months to get his first away goals. And if you look at the teams Berbatov got his mighty 12 goals against there mostly bottom half terms Obafemi Martins got way more goals against the top 10. Also Martins was higher scorer then Berbatov for 90 per cent of the time in the Premiership just the last 3 games he pipped him by 1 goal. What i am saying is the comparison is not much in it both top strikers in this league but i think Berbatov is a better footballer better build up player better target man but as a goalscorer Obafemi Martins is better plus at 22 i think Obafemi Martins has way more potential then Berbatov who is in and around his peak age.
  25. aye comparing a player who got 11 goals in the league to one that got 12 in the league is a bit unfair.
