We'll still win our group. E A S Y.

Probably when a keeper clattered into me above the knee last season...unbelievably walked away (I say that...couldn't walk for two weeks) but everyone around me thought he'd snapped my leg. Horrific pain. The worst part is I didn't even score. edit: just read the post above mine. this is a shit, irrelevant story.

5 yard passes are no good to anyone? Are you mental?

He's won one FA Cup and was a squad player in Spain's Euro 2008 success. He's achieved nowt yet. hes one of the best players in europe. you dont need medals for that. far lesser players have cabinets full of medals. Obviously champions league winning nicky butt was way better...

People need to put more thought in. There've been a few good efforts but I spent ages trying to think of the player who best matched all my criteria...get more creative. p.s. passing of xaviand shooting of lampard? Fuck off Niel

I'm your biggest fan, follow you til I love you, Emile, Emile, EMILE HESKEY

...and the Germans. Did Italy a lot of harm 4 years ago.

I nearly went for Carr but the more I thought about it the more similarities to Neville jr I found. Plus I've played midfield a lot more this year.
-
I know he hasn't managed for ages and was shit for us but there can't be too many managers who've ever won the top flight with two different clubs.

was hoping for more of a bite tbf.

FYP Incorrect. He also has very Argentinian hair. He's also got a beguiling smile. I was being very harsh.

As a player. I'm goig to give myself a generous Phil Neville. Bit of a utility man: primarily a full back but can also play in midfield and fairly solid. An honest pro who everyone respects for their work ethic but ultimatley you're always amazed he's still starting at this level and you've always got a nagging doubt he'll need replacing eventually even when he's in good form. Plus he's pretty ugly and never scores. By the way, if you're going to big yourself up loads don't do a Pilko and a) go overboard and try and make yourself sound like Drogba or, more importantly, b) ever let anyone see you play after you've made these comparisons.

You mean you lose regardless? Or irregardless if indi's watching.

What he did for us >>>>> What he did to us. Legend.

Spain -1. £10 at evens.

Yeah. We were great in qualifying but bizarrely held together by and reliant on two uninspiring (if we're being kind) players.
-
It's number not amount. I agree, it's staggering there hasn't been a single good 'big' English striker who can do the jobs Heskey is there for in the last 10 years or so.
-
Lennon/Walcott Lampard Barry Gerrard Rooney Heskey In reality Gerrard played a lot further up, it was almost him and Rooney in behind Heskey at times. He certainly wasn't a conventional winger.
-
Massively disagree on the first Crouch point.
-
Because quantifying football is bollocks and using your gut instinct on whether someone had a good game is generally far more sensible than using stats etc. Setting up a goal qualifies him as a goal threat too. He's also there to help Gerrard (and Lampard if they're both playing in attacking roles) almost as much as Rooney imo by twatting the defenders out of the way and somehow creating a bit of space for them.
-
I'm just being a nob Basically though, I don't care about the individuals, only the team. The team has been much better with Heskey in it than not in it over the last 4 years, and I haven't seen any evidence over the last year to the contrary despite Heskey's well documented flaws. Therefore I'm happy for him to play, especially based on the evidence I saw on Saturday. If we come up with something that works better than having him in I'd love to see it but I'm still waiting.
-
I was thinking about this the other day. Sure, he set Gerrard up well in the opening minutes but as he can't score (painfully proven later on) the general justification for playing him is that he's brings the best out of Rooney. Who was almost completely anonymous. Heskey won a lot of headers but if that's all you want then you might as well stick Upson up front or something. Conclusion: Heskey is shit. But as long as he "works well with Rooney". Absolute bullshit. We can't afford to have a non-goalscoring striker in our team, it's fucking ludicrous. Yeah, we were fucking great when Crouch came on for him edit: while we're here... We couldn't afford to have a non-goalscoring striker in our team in qualifying France couldn't afford to have a non-goalscoring striker in '98

Come on? Really? Shit season? Maybe to his standards, but he's definetely had a better season than many at Real. Great goal, and it was meant to be. It was never an intended goal. Look again. He looks across to see who's in the box and tries to bend it away from the keeper with his instep but ends up basically toe-punting it. Yeah. Top class if he had meant it but there's just no way.

Nah. I'd love England to win a shite tournament. It'd be amazing.
