  1. These simple questions are sooooooo hard for poor NE5.
  2. Do you honestly think Shepherd was going to get us back in the CL?
  3. Wish I hadn't bothered now I've had to explain it. :-[
  4. you know i was being sarcy right? Yeah, I wasn't arguing with you. I was taking the piss out of the assumption you'd just fingered.
  5. "Look, we were in the Intertoto just a few seasons ago!" "Of course. Here's £100 million to spunk on transfers. Just pay us back when you feel you can afford it."
  6. True. But it's his very pig-headedness that provides the comedy. The whole I'm-ignoring-the-information-about-the-club's-finances-because-the-people-discussing-it-will-be-insulting-Shepherd routine is particularly funny.
  7. Calling a people "monkeys" certainly suggests that they are subhuman -- Untermensch. Not that the Nazis were racist or anything. After all, Jews aren't black.
  8. 1. have you found your village yet 2. have you told us what you think of a manager with 4 titles with 2 different clubs and 3 manager of the year awards yet ? 3. What do you think of Craigy baby signign for man city for 14m quid, given that you supported his sale and the manager who made it ? Anything but admit that Shepherd left the club in a right old state and today we are paying the bill. just think, if we still had Craigy baby - who's sale you supported along with the manager who sold him - we would have had a 14m quid asset at the club. Did you ask me for a reminder of that question about a manager who won 4 titles with 2 different clubs and 3 manager of the year awards ? That would make it at least 4 out of 6 that you backed to succeed, wouldn't it ? How much did Liverpool pay for him? In turn, how much West Ham pay for him? 6.5m took him from Rovers to Liverpool, and 7.5m took him to the Hammers. The only reason City paid 14m is because they bloody can, and West Ham took them to the cleaners with it. I'm being pedantic because your argument about the 14m asset is ridiculous. as ridiculous as mandiarse ? what if I don't answer that? are you going to say "thought so"? or are you going to "tar me with the same brush"? This isn't about Ozzie, but about you using nonsense to jab at someone and I decided to be pedantic about it since you seem to care little for logical debate since the finances/Shepherd interview were released. Standard tactic when he wants to ignore an argument -- ie every other post.

  10. Aye, everything will be fine if we just ignore reality.
  11. I haven't looked at it. By the way, I've responded to some of your previous posts directed at me, and predictably you have joined the list of those who are unable to reply and prove me wrong, when you would love to if you could. Are you someone else that insisted we would be better off without the fat bastard [for anybody] ? Which questions have you asked me, sorry if I missed them but your perpetual arse kissing of Freddy Shepherd sends me to sleep. Which fat bastard are you on about, Shepherd or Ashley? well, we are certainly not better off since the last ownership change are we, but I thought that soopa Mike was going to be the saviour to end all those embarrassing days of qualifying regularly for europe ? We are financially more stable than we were under Freddy "Lets hoy some more cash at the problem and hope we get somewhere" Shepherd. You should know that from your sneaky peaking at the financial report thread. We will have to see where we are come May to decide how bad Ashley has been. If we finish 13th or so you could say we are on a par with Fat Fred couldn't you? Well you wouldn't cos obviously you are blinkered. While Mike Ashley is not the man to take the club forward, Freddy Shepherd certainly wasn't either. But at least Ashley isn't taking money out of the club to line his own pocket, unlike Fat Freddy. I haven't looked at the thread, because I know it will be full of people like you slating the old board for anything you can think of, such is your cluelessness. You and people like you were told for ages by myself and one or two others that getting rid of the old board wouldn't necessarily lead to more success and a better club, you were wrong. You are being told again that Ashley is taking the club downwards and downwards, his policy is wrong, you are disputing it, but you are wrong again. Do you never get tired of typing such utter tripe?
  12. We've had more Intertoto football than the top four, maybe.
  13. More European football than the top four?
  14. Marseille is one of the roughest cities in Europe. Huge working class population with its own distinct culture and accent at the opposite end of the country to the capital. Sound familiar? The immigrant/French demographic is completely unlike Newcastle, though. I wasnt drawing an exact parallel, just highlighting points of connection and saying that, unlike Merlin's view, i dont think all french people (especially from the south) can be characterised by the snobby attitudes of those in the North. Yeah, I know what you're saying: they're not all Parisians. OTOH, if you're coming out of the North African milieu of Marseilles (or even the Paris banlieue, come to that), the north-east can't really seem that familiar either. pretentious? me? Moi? Ich!

  17. I was expecting you to reply with Shola.
  18. Don't most players? Daft thread. Bassong, and a few of the ones you listed all fine. He's Senegalese... Culturally french. So we should count Nigerian players as "English"?
  19. And why should we let him go for less? I don't suppose he's earning enough to give the reduction in wages an edge over the transfer fee.
  20. Probably because he sees exactly what Shay sees. Oh come on we are not that bad, don't be mellow dramatic. We have the players to survive. But as is always with this board, its not a case of is the glass Half full or Empty, we've not even got a f***ing glass man. Most games are ticked off as loses, with people just piling more misery on if we lose. In every league season there are surprise results, Pompey 3-0 anyone? For all we know we could nick 6 points this week in two scrappy 1-0's, but we could also lose 4-0 in both and come out with 0 points. So why bother being all doom and gloom, why not try supporting the team? I've seen worse XI's than this do better, so there is no real reason to be getting suicidal. Even if we go down, at least we have a Football club, look at Leeds losing to Histon in the cup, seen more players come and go than you can remember, they might as well print shirt names on velcro. I think the fact that Harper hasn't signed the new contract by now is hugely significant considering Shay has virtually asked to leave. I like harper, but he's been happy to play back-up to Shay for years and if he decides to leave just when it looks like he's going to get his chance, then you have to seriously question his ambition and self belief. not if he goes to a prem club as first choice. I'm sure he's had plenty of chances to sign for Prem clubs in the past 10 years and he hasn't taken them. quite probably but if he moves to another prem club as first choice it hardly questions his ambition etc By questioning his ambition I mean retrospectively (if that makes any sense ) I mean you'd assume that the fact he's stuck around here for so long was because he was desperately hoping to be given a chance sooner or later. So why move to another Prem club now when he could have been playing first team football for one years ago? TBH at his age I wouldn't be surprised if he decided to move on a free as it will be his last big chance of a pay day and after the loyalty he's shown i wouldn't begrudge him that. If we are trying to cut his wages, as someone suggested upthread, then that would explain his sudden enthusiasm for removing his arse from the bench.
  21. Don't worry, I'll turn the frozen donkey wheel soon and, after the dazzling light, we'll be catapulted back to 1996 and someone can bump off Graham Fenton before the Blackburn game.
  22. Please don't come on to the finances thread, NE5. The reality of the club's financial position is depressing enough without having to watch you flail around looking for ways to ignore it.
