They paid 24m initially but I also think they have already paid the 6m in add ons which kicked in after they qualified for Europe and him not having to play that many games. So if that is correct they’ve paid 30m for him.
-
Yes the 30m will affect other areas too, and obviously more so. But then we at least actually improve our starting eleven at the same time for “only” 15m extra and lower wages. What I think we should do: 1. Go with Pope for next season and use that 15m extra to get our primary targets for other areas. It doesn’t mean that Dubravka/Karius will be backup anymore. Both likely to leave. Get a decent keeper on loan. 2. Go for an upgrade that improves us now in the short term as well as being likely to be a top top keeper for the next 10+ years. I genuinely don’t think we will sign Ramsdale, at least that’s what I hope. Not saying that he’s an awful player or anything. Just not the route I wish us to go. I also don’t think the price will be as low as 15m. Hypothetically speaking.

IF they go for him then obviously there will have been calculations made, but it doesn’t mean that we sort out most of our more important (imo) priorities. They might think it’s worth getting him in for 15m at the cost of other areas. It doesn’t mean that I agree with it. of course I am super very happy and excited to continue with Dubravka, that’s exactly what I’ve been saying….

It’s not quite this simple. It doesn’t sound like a lot but it adds up on other running deals. It’s 3m less we can use on other deals per year.
-
Of course even 15m “only” would also affect our other business, don’t be silly. I don’t mind spending money on a keeper but if we do it then let’s make sure that player really improves us too. Quality over quantity imo.
-
Well, considering how many other areas we have I would much much rather spend that money on other positions unless we improve on Pope. Or pay a bit more if we MUST sign one now. I’m not against getting a better keeper in for say 30m or so, but I’m against spending 15-20m on someone who doesn’t really improve our 1st team.

I dont see Ramsdale as an upgrade on Pope by much, if at all apart from having better feet. Pope is better at other stuff and also seems stronger mentally. Feels like a sideway step and a bit of a waste of money imo.

I thought they paid 30m for him.

I’m not entirely sure if numbers are correct but apparently Ramsdale is on 120k/week. For example, Giorgi is currently on around 30k if numbers are to be believed. Quite the difference there already when thinking pros and cons.
-
I think we will sign Big Giorgi if any keeper.

Must be tough for players earning so much money despite not working that many hours and also having to travel luxury style having it all served and organised The club isn’t doing this for the sake of it. Players wages are like 70-80% of the “company’s” turnover more or less.

Shouldn’t be rocket science? (Pun intended)

Ran out of Nufc material mate?

1. I dont rate Ramsdale highly. 2. Fuck giving Arsenal a single penny.
-
I always thought Pope looked good for Burnley. He impressed me even more once we signed him. Ramsdale I have never felt the same about, error prone and seems weak mentally. Also don’t want to give them any money. I want a strong minded quality keeper.

Hall to have a belter of a game. Love watching him with the ball at his feet.
-
The most perfect scenario tbh. A creative and composed RW with end product preferably. Technical ability is key.
-
Id be “ok” with that, of course. Not too fond of switching him over for Barnes though. Not that we will have this problem I’d guess.
-
Totally agree. Wouldn’t really want him. I’m desperate for us to strengthen CM though. I think and hope we will.
-
Ideally don’t want Barkley but he is a game changer if we play him instead of one of the others if one of Bruno/Tonali/Joelinton can’t play.

Football related infrastructure?

That particular move was in a bit of transition though, with the opposition not so deep. We are quite good at those bits, especially with our better players available. What I’m talking about is more when we more or less play around the opposition box trying to find openings. Having a technically composed player there that calmly can keep hold of the ball and drag the opposition out of shape because of the opposition committing players, and also be able create something individually. Joelinton does things well, but assisting goals doesn’t happen too often from what I’ve seen. The final pass. Even if his link up play is decent from a deeper position at times. I also think it would allow us to control games better having that option in front of say Tonali and Bruno for example.
