  1. No, you're right I can't. And after that i'm probably not the only one. I laughed my head off when he missed (and don't care if he goes to the WC) but you think because Beckford scored one goal against PL opposition he's suddenly better than Owen? You said yourself Beckford wasn't PL quality, just Championship quality, I hardly think you can say Owen isn't good enough for the Championship (although I know you will) when we've seen what Shola can do. Owen is a shadow of his former self but put him in League 1 and he'd score loads. Before you say I love him, read my first few words again before you reply. If I could buy either player for £1.5million I'd pick Beckford every time. In fact even if Owen was 500k less and agreed to the same wages I'd still tell him to fuck off.
  2. There won't be anything added to his price tag, he's out of contract in the summer FFS. If other teams are interested, why not? If teams are desperate around deadline day, I can see Beckford costing a lot. The teams potentially interested in him (lower Prem teams) won't pay a fuckload for someone because he did well in one game, and if Leeds want money for Beckford, they'll have to stay within reason and not kneejerk their asking price because Beckford scored at Old Trafford. I say they'll either keep him out hhis contract, or sell for a £1.5-2.5 Million. after todays performance we may not be the only bidder though. No reasonable club will pay a shitload for a player who is out of contract in the summer. Bar us none (lower prem / upper champ teams) are really desperate for a striker. No one needs a cheap young striker? That's unusual.
  3. Speak for yourself This competition means a lot to me and to plenty of other Newcastle fans, not least the 2,400 who went to Plymouth yesterday Well said. I'm glad Leeds didn't have that attitude, it would be nice to think we would be up for it if we faced one of the big boys rather than tamely accepting defeat and a football lesson.
  4. Just have to hope no one else steps in during the window, we probably don't need him this season and we can get him at the end of the season if we don't do a deal in January.
  5. Let's go for someone with a nice touch who's slow as f*** instead. Viduka still unattached? I was thinking more in terms of Boyd...a slow clumsy twat who will fit in nicely with Butt, Nolan and Taylor. We don't need rapist touch footballers here.
  6. Let's go for someone with a nice touch who's slow as fuck instead.
  7. Another wank performance from the little bast... fella.
  8. Have to agree. If he was coming here I doubt they would have played him and cup-tied him before sending him off. As already mentioned, he was already cup-tied because he played in the earlier rounds. Fair enough. I hope we've signed him he looks quick and has got good feet.
  9. On his way to Boro for £3m apparently, just too much really, I'd be dissapointed if we handed Leeds £5m for 2 players. If they're good enough why not? I doubt their quality. If they can run faster than an old woman and can pass the ball more than three yards that already puts them in a higher bracket than many of our players.

  11. Great attitude towards the FA Cup. Chris Hughton should watch and learn. Well done Leeds, that was magic
  12. I've seen enough, get him signed. (fuck Boyd).
  13. I'm pretty sure that Bates is playing him today in the hope that a good performance will see other teams enter the bidding.
  14. How do Johnny Evans and Wes Brown ever get a game at ManU when they have Vidic and Ferdinand? It's a long season with a lot of games and you need strength in depth to cover injuries, suspensions and loss of form. Right now we have virtually zero cover at the back and have probably been lucky not to have been more exposed. Even with the depth that ManU have, they got caught short recently and Carrick had to play in the middle of the back four. Sh1t happens - whatever level you're at.... I understand signing another Centre Back / Left Back from Newcastle's point of view. It's Kilgallon I wonder about. He must think he'll be able to muscle his way past S.Taylor or Colo to get into the starting line up. I can't imagine he'd be too keen to come here and rarely play. We should only be looking to sign players who actually improve the squad, neither Colo or Taylor are top notch central defenders so if Kilgallon's got anything about him he should think he will break into the side at some point. Bassong didn't take long to establish himself from a humble start and look at him now.
  15. Thanks for your interpretation but it doesn't match up to what he said.
  16. He usually has a physical centre half alongside him in Taylor, a defender you have championed in the past. Strangely Tayloy usually ends up handling in the 6 yard box rather than dominating aerial battles when the goals go in against. Do you actually have a point to make? His game massively relies on others and he got exposed time and time again today. Unless you saw the game today to disagree?? I made my point already, just re-read the post if you are confused. I didn't see the game but I've sat alongside plenty of clueless twats at St James for me to disregard that line of reasoning in all fairness.
  17. You absolutely slated Pancrate on his performance tonight and defended Butt, yet you have picked Pancrate ahead of Butt to start the next game. I don't really follow this line of thinking.

  19. Most players are happy to play with the kind of fans backing we give them. I think they would like to work under a decent manager for the most part. It's quite sad that our two most successful managers in the last 20 yrs have been characters who were considered past it a long time ago.
  20. I honestly didn't give a shit about today's game. It's difficult to learn anything about any of our players while we are playing this style of football. If you play a side with eight defenders it's pretty harsh to judge the forwards- like Pancrate who has received the majority of stick - when they are feeding on scraps.
  21. They will appoint the interim one that got them the result with scousers today for sure. Just saw him interviewed on ITV, he looks confident and intelligent compared to many English managers. Reading look like a big side with pace as well, so I doubt we'lll bully them. We'll do well to win this one if we continue with our current tactics.
  22. £6m was also a good fee for bellamy, that other terrible character who it was impossible to manage. Still, no doubt our stalwart chracters who are all good lads will show the premier teams with their awful temperamental stars like Anelka just why we don't need them.
