SSN: £10m offer from Spurs for Sebastien Bassong rejected
TRon replied to Crumpy Gunt's topic in Football
I'm sure Bassong will be shaking in his boots at the prospect of an ear bashing from Chris Hughton. if bassong has refused to play then i don't care what hughton says to him. i just want to know if he is a greedy f*** like so many others. In it's current state, I don't believe any half decent player should feel obliged to play for this club if there is a chance for a better move. I would normally condemn any players with such a poor attitude but when the owner has given up on this season it's naieve to expect the players to feel differently. players can kick up and decide when they want to play when they start signing contracts that say they can be paid off or have pay deducted if they play s***. onre way or the other...having it both ways takes the piss somewhat. I agree...but as the players are now free to take the piss with no real leader at the helm to come down hard, it's a situation which is inevitable and initiated and sustained by the owner of the club. it is but whilst they are picking up thousands of pounds and wanting others to maybe pay them more than that they ought to play and worklike they are professionals worthy of it. If they were at a club being run properly I would agree 100%. stuff that. even when the company i work for goes through s*** i have to perform and if my performance is crap or i can't be arsed i get punished. Exactly. At the company you work for there is some accountability. Where is there any evidence of it at Newcastle? can't be too hard for someone to say "you are refusing to play...right i'm telling the press, your wages are stopped and you'll stop here till your contract expires" it would also be nice if, in a perfect world, any player who done that was black listed by all other clubs. as i alluded to early if players want that power then contracts should cut both ways. In reality though, the owner is 300 miles away in hiding, the club is in limbo, and the caretaker manager won't have the authority or clout to say boo to a goose. He might as well polish Bassong's boots for him and see if he'll chuck him a few quid. -
I would actually quite like to go, but I won't on principle.

I'd agree with most but not all. For sure, the biggest problem was that we failed to win a single header from a set piece at either end all game. At the back, neither Colo nor Taylor are leaders / organisers, Enrique looks like a frightened rabbit, and Beye seemed to spend his energy complaining. They were gifted some very soft goals. Carroll showed plenty of determination, and looks like he can do something at this level. Xisco showed the odd flourish but otherwise didn't look like he knew where he was. Lua Lua I'd agree looked ready for his chance. He was a bit greedy but I suppose he's having to prove himself every time he gets the ball. But overall we have to hope that the managerial situation is sorted out quick. A big problem at the moment is the players aren't playing for their places because no-one has to worry what Hughton thinks. in a nutshell.

I think you're scapegoating him there. Or maybe I'm pointing out he's a major part of the problem ? Major?? I would put Ashley, and every single player before him if i was listing the problems in order tbh. Everything stems from the ownership of the club, if you can call it that. If Ashley made Graham Norton manager would it be Norton's fault if the results started going downhill? I for one applaud our players not giving a shit. They will get paid anyway and what can Ashley do about it? Sit in his hidey hole down south scoffing ice cream and that's about it. Fuck off you fat blimp and pay these fuckers now.
-
It's not about Hughton, it's not his fault he's being lumbered with a job he's not fit for. The players now know there is no accountability at this joke of a club and are free to take the piss....and who can blame them?
-
Obviously the players care as much about Newcastle as the owner. I take my hat off to them. Bravo.

How on earth are people comparing Gerrard with Barton, it's fucking daft, Barton has long, very long list of previous incidents. Barton has put out a cigar in a youth players eye! beat up his team mate at Man City training ground, been involved in actual fights in/out of clubs. Even looking at Barton's family, his brother has killed someone. Gerrard didn't even throw the first punch, and the story HAS been in the news for days and he has been getting criticism. I can't stand Barton, but if he had done what Gerrard did would he have been acquitted? You can answer yes if you want we all know what the honest answer is. This isn't a defence of Barton, it's disgust at how some people are above the law because of their status.
-
I'd get Stevie Gerrard to do it if i was you. There's the law for the likes of them and there's the law for the likes of you mate. I wouldn't get the two mixed up unless you want to spend some time in the clink.
-
I wonder if Gerrard, England hero will get dragged through the mud by the tabloids like Barton? Daft question really.

The new hardline Chris hughton certainly won't let the players take liberties that's for sure... http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_OQFmCfEWnIU/Sdj9C1GJZ7I/AAAAAAAAAk8/ZW4fwMeDVrw/s320/SM1.jpg

It can't be that bad, after all Fattie thought it was worth gambling on relegation by not spending money on management or playing staff to ensure Premiership survival.

We'll see what the club have to say on these players if the sale falls through. If I had to bet on whether Ashley will maintain the strength of the squad or whether he will sell any player he can get cash for I know which one I'd put money on. Its easy to say that but as our wagebill is still obscene and totally unmanagable without huge amounts pumped in the club wont survive with the current squad. Its time for some to stop crying over 'asset stripping' and realise its essential. The obvious problem is that fat fucktard wont replace them That's essentially what I am saying; that he won't maintain the strength of the squad. I don't have any problem with selling players or moving them on as long as we bring in the right replacements...which clearly won't happen. So I'd rather stick with what we've got thanks and hope we can get back up.

The news in the Chronicle yesterday that the Korean interest is all but dead in the water sums up the direction this sorry saga is going in for me. A few weeks ago there were supposedly two bids in for £100m but if that was ever true then I expect interest from these parties to cool. It might still happen but I think it's unlikely now as Ashley is in the habit of leaving things too late, including the dinner table.
-
Just shut up and pick up your wages you useless cunt. It's not like you've ever earned them, I don't know what you're moaning about.
-
Stevie G testified for that scouse gangster. Funny that, how he's a hero and Barton's a thug. They are both charva's in my view.

It also increases the chances that all interested parties will pull out as the prospect of the club getting promotion recede with every day lost, making the club less valuable every week that goes by. I would like to think that Ashley has a Plan B if this all blows up in his fat face (as usual) but I doubt it. Unless you call putting Hughton/Kinnear in charge and running off to London while they get on with it a plan.
-
Nufc.com seems to imply that Ashley is staying but is simply going to asset strip the squad, we're well and truly knackered, league one here we come. If that's the case then sniffing out Ashley's whereabouts and having a fruitful discussion with the southern based Newcastle owner might become a prority for some fans...who might well be carrying baseball bats on the off chance of catching a game if the good weather forecast for August is correct.

I love being a Newcastle supporter. It's just a shame we end up getting kicked in the nuts in return.
