  1. How the hell can you judge the quality of a player over the rest of his team mates by price you will get for them? Is Beye a terrible player because he may leave for as little as 500k? If Nolan goes for 2 million he is better footballer than Beye 4 times over? I judged the players on performances in which i saw many better players than Martins, not saying those 'better' players are good players, but the best of a bad lot. The only criteria I use to judge a player is do we have better options or not?
  2. So you believe Martins wants to stay? That sentence is backwards. Most of the chances fell to Martins by the way .. Arsenal penalty .. taking it with his weaker foot! and Spurs especially, he is a woeful player. Or have you not seen those matches? I've seen the matches and if he's a woeful player, what does that make the rest of the squad? IMO, even if he's not that good, he's miles better than the vast majority of our playing staff and that will be backed up when the squad is sold off. If you can name me 6 players who will fetch a bigger fee you'll have a point. Your way of judging a player is the bigger the fee the better they must be? Well, Michael Owen went to Man Utd for nothing and i would certainly say that MO is a better striker than Martins, since he has a brain and had the best shots to goals ratio in PL last year. Beye is a better player too, S Taylor, Barton, Bassong and Enrique also, not as big a reputation obviously as Martins... I'm not even saying these are good players.. but merely making a case that these are better than an overrated headless chicken, who can't finish. Martins is being paid too much at this club, but that is the case with the vast majority of our squad including all those players (except Bassong) you mentioned there. Owen might have been a better striker but he scored no goals in three months while getting us relegated. how does that support your view? Michael Owen not scoring in 3 months doesn't have anything to do with 'my view' .. which was that Martins has been woeful and he missed the most chances in the close of last year. You did bring Michael Owen into this conversation with your endorsement of his brainy play and super goals per s*** ratio if you scroll back up and care to take a look. I did, when you said how could Martins be a woeful player when he will be the most costly from our team, which in itself is wrong.. I chose to not judge a player on price and more on performances and quality.. and listed 6 players who were better than Martins last year (as you asked)... That's not what I asked.

    RIP sale thread.

I've been told that Keith Harris is on holiday because Seymour Pierce are in the process of cutting all ties with Ashley. They're fucked off he wont accept a realistic offer for the club and they believe it's impacting on their reputation quite badly. would this finally bring Ashley back down to earth? realise the error of his ways etc..... or have i eventually gone insane If the fat oaf was capable of seeing the error of his ways he'd have quit making blunder after blunder long before getting us relegated.

  5. At least we have the chance to recoup some money from Martins. Good luck on that score with Smith, Barton, Colo, Duff. Nolan etc.

  7. Got to agree with Big TRon like. What is Nolan to a central midfield? What is Geremi to a wing? you can do this to almost every player and the answer is shit. Martins is better in his position than the majority of the other players. Nolan, Geremi, Butt, Duff, Smith etc etc etc are probably on similar wages aswell. If Martins is shit, fuck knows what the rest of the squad are. Exactly. It's not a defence of Martins either, I'd be quite happy to see him go except i doubt we'd buy a replacement. But describing him as shite while we've got a squad of players who couldn't run from one end of the pitch to the other without the help of a pacemaker is a bit rich.

  9. that says more about our ineptness in the transfer market over the years than it does about martins. It says more about the abysmal midfield which incidentally got outclassed by Leyton Orient yesterday just to showcase how inept they are.
  10. Owen would have put those chances away without a doubt. It was good luck for us that we had England's finest banging in the crucial goals in those last few matches otherwise we would have been doomed...
  11. Fair play. No excuses not to go now. How about I refuse to suport Ashley's Newcastle if he won't?
  12. I think Kinnear could do a good job selling hot dogs inside the stadium. I could really picture him with his own van serving burgers and warm cans of pop from a fridge which hasn't been turned on to save the 'leccy.
  13. It will be mildly exciting then an anti climax, in the same way a car crash on the motorway usually is.
  14. He didn't want to be here and we had to pay him twice as much as anyone else would in order for him to pull on the black and white shirt, otherwise I doubt he'd wipe his arse with it. There really isn't anything more to say on this matter apart from that.
  15. I'm amazed Shearer hasn't already told Ashley to fuck off tbh. He's a proud man and it must be hard to take being pissed about by a fat slob who has brought the club to it's knees. I'm sure he'#s just biting his lip in the hope that a takeover might still happen. In any case, I don't think anyone can ever question his desire for the job after this, I know i had my doubts before he took it on last season.
  16. I don't think they were bothered about winning or losing, the half decent ones want to be away and the rest are so shit they would probably lose to Orient most days of the week.
  17. TRon

    Administration?

Most football clubs have the sense to build relegation clauses into the contracts so the issue doesn't usually arise.

    RIP sale thread.

The debts are old news, most people are aware of the real cost of buying the club, the bottom line has always been whether Ashley is going to be prepared to sell at the best price offered or if he'll decide to remain a clueless fat blimp.
  19. Too fan friendly if anything. How many chairman sit with the fans and drink with the fans and wear the shirt? Because he was sat with us, he'd hear the fans slagging Allardyce, so he sacks him and appoints Keegan. His biggest mistake was then appointing Wise and then giving him too much influence. Ashley has made mistakes but he has lost a hell of alot of money. I am sick of hearing apologists offer up the "he's made mistakes" excuse. That could wash the first time, and the second, possibly even the third or fourth. But by now it should be clear that these aren't mistakes they are hard headed, cheapskate policies which the fat cunt refuses to deviate from, even after having his arse burned with relegation. That is why we will have Chris Hughton leading us out like sacrificial lambs on the opening day of the season .
  20. If the players don't mind losing 6-1 to Orient I doubt they'll be arsed when the season starts proper. There is no leadership, no motivation, and unless that changes, no chance of getting promoted with such a rotten philosophy running through the club at every level.
  21. i get your point. i'm always pissed off when players think they can unilaterally alter their contracts. In this case the club has put themselves in a position where they actually deserve it. It's wrong but it's true. thats where we disagree. the club only deserve it when the contract allows for them to become arsey when the player is shit. When players were claiming to be injured, Shearer made them come in to work twice a day. That's how you deal with piss taking footballers. If you are going to put a wet lettuce in charge of headstrong players, then don't be surprised if they kick sand in his face while taking your money.

  23. It would be more relevant if this was re-named "What are you expecting from the takeaway?" 1) Wan ton soup 2)prawn toast 3) Stir fried House special with sweetcorn
  24. No one is going to dock anyone or discipline anyone, and that is what is wrong at the club. When the club has given up on any standards it's pointless getting worked up about players taking the piss. When we start to resemble a football club again rather than a closing down sale I'll look at it differently, right now I can't be arsed.
