I like the way you think Tron. It's not bitterness, merely a logical conclusion. Plus some bitterness. Well quite a lot actually, but anyway...

I have a feeling this will go sour for li'l mikey tbh. Man U have lost Ronaldo and Tevez and I have a feeling they won't win the Premier next season. When the Mancs and all their fans in the media start looking round for scapegoats Owen will be in everyone's sights. Enjoy it while you can you club relegating cunt.
-
Never mind that, can you imagine the reception he will get when he steps out at Anfield wearing enemy colours? Despicable little cunt.

Games moved for TV - latest is Nottingham Forest (a)

Even when we are out of the top division we are still a big club and always will be. I did a thread a while back on big clubs being relegated, and I still think if Leeds ever get their act together and get back in the Premier the football world will be happier for it. Same goes for us, the Premier without Newcastle United isn't a bettter prospect and the real football people will admit it. -
If the bid is genuine and these are the same guys who were given a tour of the ground it would suggest that the deal must be imminent otherwise why would we be rolling out the red carpet?
-
Plenty of "fans" on this site used to say the same about Jenas and Dyer, luckily they weren't in charge of transfers otherwise the club would be £16million poorer today.
-
Good luck to the little shit at Man U, at least now he's at a club he actually wants to play for he won't mope around with a face like a smacked arse.

Maybe the Quatari group employ Malaysian servants who are sent ahead to scout out the catering facilities.

Finally a sane voice. The truth of the matter is, cost-cutting could only work on the premise we stayed in the Premier, in the end this was taken to such an extreme it ended up costing us far more. We do not want any more owners with this niggardly mindset otherwise we are finished. Are we/will we be a viable borrower? We don't even know that the prospective buyers will be looking to borrow yet, or if they do, on what terms. The point is, there's still a club here with massive potential if it can be bought at the right price. All i know is that there's not much point in buying it then thinking small.

Let's see...in the last seven days we've had Fat Fred on the verge of getting a £60m bid accepted according to the BBC...then we've been informed by club sources that the yanks are in pole position totally contradicting the Fat Fred BS.....now we have the BBC reporting that a mystery group of Malaysians are being shown round the club contradicting the Yank BS. :sleepy2: wake me up when there's some real news.

Bollocks. We are among the favourites to go back up, or at least we were before this sale dragged out. We still have a basis of players better than the shite that is in the Championship. If a buyer isn't coming in with a view to fine tuning the squad then taking us straight back up he should fuck off and invest in Scunthorpe.
-
Exactly. Jonas has his flaws and the criticism of him is justified, but he's still one of our better players in that he isn't slow, old, unfit and completely talentless. The players who fit that description or some part of it, such as Nolan, Butt, Duff, Smith, Ameobi, Ryan Taylor etc, are the ones who need to be sold/kicked out as a priority. Players like Bassong, Martins and Jonas should be allowed to leave only if we get a decent offer which suits us not them.

Shepherd would be terrible. I would much rather take a chance on somebody else. We would be very very unlucky to end up with someone worse than Shepherd again. What if there is no other option? If theres no other option other than to die as a club, of course I would take Freddy back. However, from reports it seems like there ARE other options. We don't know how ambitious they will be though. With Shepherd you know he will set his sights on a return to the Prem and will make the funds available to do it. After Ashley, I'm very nervous about the motives of foreign investors unless they are minted. I would rather see the club safe and well run tbh. With that we will progress on and off the field at the correct pace. If we are well run we will get promoted anyway. Shepherd plunging us into more dept and making a fool of himself holds no attraction to me, especially considering how bad his decision making has proven to be in the past. You can be well run AND ambitious you know. This club can be both considering the potential it has to generate money. I would rather two years in this division sorting ourselves out, than spunking a load of cash we don't have up the wall and Shepherd strutting around making more ridiculous decisions in the Premier League. We would most likely end up back at square one the Shepherd way. How anyone can trust the fat c*** is beyond me. We'll have to agree to disagree on that one. Two years "sorting ourselves out" in the Championship is not the way to go for a club this size. We have to show our intent and make sure we are giving ourselves the best chance of blazing back into the Premier and we need an owner with the ambition to go for it. And you think Shepherd is the best man for that, despite his past failure? He's the known quantity so I can make a judgement that we will aim high next season if he is involved. It might well be the other interested parties are better, or they could easily turn out like Ashley, or saddle the club with debt like Man U's or Liverpool's owners have. No one knows who they are or what their motives are yet so I don't see how anyone can be sure they will necessarily be better than Ashley.

Thank fuck. I can't believe people are actually entertaining this notion. Shepard has already proven himself a shitty chairman and most of us were glad to get shot of him. Just because Ashley was a shitt(ier)y owner too doesn't make Shepard suddenly become a good chairman. Screw your heads on guys. If you are following the lead of the Daily Star you probably need to screw your own head on to be fair. I have no clue about anything in the Daily Star, I was merely using their headline as a catalyst for discussion. That's like saying I buy the Gaurdian because I like looking pictures of birds with nice tits.
-
Because he's not old, shit and over-paid? I think you may have a point.

Exactly. Compared to the rest who are mostly being paid a lot more, he is impressive.

Didn't understand that bit, why would Harris care? Or did he mean Ashley, and why would he care? Neither of them care, whoever bids the highest will get the club.

I knew I shouldn't have bothered logging in.

that could have been written 2 or 3 years ago yes that relegation 2 or 3 years ago was just awful wasn't it? can't see how our current situation resembles us 3 years ago at all, to be perfectly honest. we weren't so very far away....werent you there ? Shepherd never had much going for him but I doubt he would have dithered and fiddled all season putting his faith in blind hope that we would stay up. Ashley's lack of decisive action when it was needed cost us millions. There really is no comparison. the point sonme (including me) have tried to make is that the position he had got us in....he really couldn't have "borrowed" to get us out.. we were hocked up to the limit and still needing to borrow to survive......eventually you aren't allowed to keep on doing it. I'm well aware of all that, I was one of his biggest critics, but at the end of the day I'm also just a fan. If Ashley stays he'll run the club down and try to scrape back as much of his dough as he can. Shepherd will at least try and win promotion next season. Incidentally if Ashley wasn't such a spineless blimp he could have set his flabby jaw and invested in his club next season in an effort to get us back up. If he chooses to cut his losses and run we really are better off without him.
-
If anyone else is truly interested in buying the club they only have to make a serious offer. I'm sure Ashley would prefer to sell to someone else.
