  1. For me this role should be taken by Jamie Reuben since it was him and Staveley who worked to bring PIF into the club. Presumably he was also part of the decision making when it came to punting Staveley from the club as well. We can't have everyone taking a hands off approach, and with him being (presumably) Newcastle based, he should be best placed to make decisions day to day. Or he should have someone he trusts doing it if he has other more pressing interests to take care of. But regardless, someone needs to be taking charge, whether that is a PIF appointee or Rueben. On that I agree.

    Tino Livramento

Nice bump, just what we need to start off another shit weekend.
  3. What makes it worse is that he went through the same shit with Ashworth before Mitchell landed.

Might be another reason why Mitchell packed his bags earlier than expected. He might have been the on banking on it only to end up with no options and a load of wasted effort on nothing.
  5. I'm at peace with him going now. It will be a blow to lose one of our truly world class players, but if we can get the deal done quickly and replace with a couple of exciting striker options like Wissa and Sesko, I will come to terms with it. But has to be on our terms otherwise he stays until next season whether he likes it or not.
  6. We can send it in the right way as well. Ok we'll sell you but in our time, and at our price. No one is indispensable, but we can't be seen to be weak when we have the richest owners in the world.
  7. For Levy Spurs is everything, he's probably there in his office overlooking every aspect every morning. I don't know this, but his office is probably at the Spurs ground as well. Yasir isn't that, and by the looks of it, neither is Reuben. Yasir's never going to be that either, his role is global and he's head of various global ventures. The comparison is pointless. That means the role has to be delegated, and you need to make the right choice who gets the role. Who makes that decision I don't know.
  8. He had the power to appoint Mitchell as DOF and looks like that has led directly to the issues with contracts and player recruitment for the last 12 months.
  9. He'd go to Real Madrid or Arsenal if they came in and offered him the same as Liverpool. I probably hate Liverpool more than anyone else on here, but I'm not going to deny they have more world standing and attraction for top players than most. It would be a great move for Isak at this point in his career. But pay the fucking money if you want him. And that means closer to £200m than £100m.
  10. That's probably even more true for PIF then. They are one of the biggest investment firms in the world with ventures across the globe. It's a bit daft to expect Yasir to fly in every time there's a an issue and hold stand up meetings. It seems to me that roles were delegated, and Eales has got things badly wrong. Whoever is responsible for sourcing CEOs at Newcastle should have been on top of this, and this is where the cracks have appeared.
  11. A sensible take. Yes he's going to be annoyed how things have panned out under Eales and Mitchell, but he is in charge now, and by the end of it should have the board above that he can work with. Hopefully we'll be in a good place by the end of the summer.
  12. If Liverpool won't pay the fee - which has to be the bare minimum of £150m then they don't want him badly enough. Also means we don't have to buy a replacement as he will still be here.
  13. I keep asking this question, but why isn't Jamie Reuben on hand for this? With Staveley gone, surely that should be his job since he's the local voice at the club. Or should be.
  14. That was Eales, and by all accounts he appears to have fucked it up royally. He should have been replaced once it was clear he was unfit to do the job properly.
  15. I also think he will go, but Liverpool can't dictate the price to us. I would imagine the bare minimum we'll agree to is £150m and if they won't pay it, they don't want him enough. That should send a very clear message to Isak as well as to how much they value him.
  16. He thinks Yasir should stop multitasking and put all his efforts into Newcastle United basically.
  17. That makes sense. You could argue maybe we should have alternatives to go for in that case, but I guess Howe would argue once we have improved to this level, only the really top players are going to improve us.
  18. No one said anything about Howe scouting players, I said it would come down to Howe's judgement on when it comes to making a call on them.
  19. IIRC Isak was originally out of our price range because he had high wage demands, but after a poor season in Spain he agreed to lower them and we got the deal done. Sesko feels similar. I think he's highly rated but no one wants to pay daft wages on potential. Could pay off for the club that takes the plunge. Could equally backfire so I guess it's just about Howe's judgement on a player....which is usually pretty good.
  20. Not surprised if he's supposedly looking for 300k a week. Based on fucking what?
  21. What role does Reuben play in this? When Stavely was here, her and Meherdad were the movers and shakers, with them being bought out, you would have expected Jamie Rueben to be a bit more hands on as he is the one with the local link. I know there are other PIF heads on the board but not really sure what role they play. Everyone seems hands off looking from the outside.
  22. Said it before I am not one who needs constant communication from the club. I would prefer they just get on with it and actually get things done.
