  1. I already addressed this earlier. We don't have to offer him a new contract either by that logic. We would do it to keep a great player happy to be here rather than one sulking through the season with one foot out the door.

I meant like for like when Isak is out THIS season. Rotations, injuries etc.

I see him only in context with this season. If Isak goes - which I hope he doesn't - then we'll have more than enough money to sign a damn good main striker to add to Wissa.

The MGW link is what gives me some hope. Spurs might rather pursue that than a 29 year old striker. Could Levy's legendary stinginess play in our favour?

Wissa is not just a squad player though, he's a genuine like for like alternative for Isak.

He's more proven than Ekitike. A strike force of Isak and Wissa will be fearsome for this season.
  7. By the end of the season who knows....maybe the PSR rules can be blown out of the water and we can actually play our top players top wages.

I'm planting my flag in the ground now and saying if we get it done, it will be a brilliant signing.

I hope we've done our homework and have a good idea that he actually wants to come here over Spurs. You know, like we did with Ekitike and Liver...never mind.
  10. That would risk him deciding to play half arsed for a season or being inconveniently injured. Would be better to give him an improved contract then sell him next year on our own terms.

Looks to me like we are the ones paying for the chauffeur to take him down the road to Tottenham from Brentford.

It's a shame the finishing point will be him in a Spurs shirt after we do all the negotiations for Levy.

Howe wants what he wants. Ekitike has no PL experience but we still chased him relentlessly for 3 years so it's not the be all and end all.
  14. Agree. We'll offer him an improved contract with a release clause IMO. That way we both win.

Not sure about that. Levy would be just as wary of his age as we are.
  16. It could well be Liverpool are tapping him up. We wanted him as well as Ekitike, who's to say they don't? I'm not saying they do FWIW, but he will find a club which will pay him top wages, I'm pretty sure of that. I think we'll offer him a better contract with a release clause of around £150m so we'll get at least another year out of him.
  17. No one cares about his agent, but it would give us a happy Isak for a year. Presumably it would be an extended contract, so unless a club coughs up £150m he would be here for the rest of it.
  18. They are going to have to do something unless they really want to trade their way to the top. I would imagine that's not easy, there are only so many times you can sell your best players and still come out stronger than ever. Just look at Brighton.
  19. Tbf, Howe himself is probably considered an elite manager. Just like Isak he could probably land a job at one of the super clubs if he decided he wanted to move to the next level. He must get a bit frustrated seeing cartel clubs taking all his transfer targets. Imagine what he could do with their squads.
  20. He's good enough to get 300k from those 7-8 monster clubs, that's the problem.
  21. I think that's what we'll do. Offer him a big pay rise with a release clause of £150m. He still might not take it, but we will then just sell him next summer regardless.
