  1. Do you? You think that Newcastle United losing £9m would be a good thing? You should support the club, not the ex-manager. Just my opinion though. i support the ex manager more than the current owner, its called loyalty. I cant speak for anyone else but i'm for the club above any individual. My loyalty is to NUFC and not to an individual especially in a situation where no one knows the facts. Its these types of loyalties that have held this club back for the last 15 years. Personally speaking, if it goes to court I would want the club to win the case. I'd far rather the £9m stayed in Newcastle rather than be used to bail out a soccer circus in Glasgow.
  2. I think this is actually the most likely scenario. If the club would be liable to him for breaching his contract then he should be liable to them as well if he breaks it. In which case he should pay them the 2m. He's hardly going to take that lying down if he feels he wasn't allowed to manage properly. Best all round if KK's allowed to walk away and he drops his claim as well.
  3. There is another angle to this which hasn't got much mention yet: it could be that Keegan's legal action is just a standby option if the club takes the decision to sue Keegan for walking out. There was a clause in his contract which meant he was liable for £2m if he did that. If that's the case I would definitely back Keegan's position if it is just a standby option.
  4. That's my position as well. If an independent tribunal rules in his favour then fair play, although I'll be surprised. Any manager has to conduct transfer business according to the employers guidelines who will have to fund them at the end of the day. While there might be sympathy for Keegan's position it would be difficult to translate that into grounds for walking out and seeking compensation IMO.
  5. I need a bit more too. Being undermined and not fully supported gives me that. Then add in the smear campaign and it doesn't look good for Ashley and co. What baffles me is the depths people will sink to in order to paint KK as the baddy in all this while totaly forgiving Ashley or ignoring their part in all this, like Tron implying KK can't be trusted with money, revisions of history and character assinations of a man who yes does have his faults, who yes did walk away at a bad time for the club but a man who deserves the benefit of the doubt surely if we are talking about no-one knowing what really happened over the likes of Ashley and dennis fucking wise, given you know, what he's done for the club in the past and if that doesn't satisfy you, at least what he was doing for the team before he walked which was a damned sight more positive than we've been used to since Sir Bobby. I don't think I ever said Keegan can't be trusted with money. All I've ever said is that is a new owner will need to provide KK with a decent transfer kitty to keep him happy. As far as I'm concerned that's still the case.
  6. Could that employee sit on this website all day while at work? No.
  7. OK I'll play along. For arguments sake KK can't be trusted with money. You're the owner of Newcastle who do you bring in to identify and sign talent.... why that known talent spotter Dennis Wise, that master property dealer and someone who watches La Liga a fair bit. Bingo - the dream team. Dennis Wise couldn't spot a gem in a fucking jewelers shop. Either way Tron, Ashley fucked up and if you don't trust KK, how the hell you can trust Ashley who put Wise in charge of finding talent I do not know. I would check the date on your cornflakes if I were you. If I was an employer (which I am as it happens) the last person I would want in my organisation is an employee who refused to work within the blueprint of his company, walks away, then sues for dismissal.
  8. As a manager or an agent? On buying players is what he means. If it was my money being spent Jiminez. If it was yours, O'Neill.
  9. The biggest wasted opportunity was appointing this very good manager who had the unanimous support of the fans and players and not supporting him fully, preferring instead to put the entire running of the club outside of selecting and coaching the players in the hands of inexperienced, agenda driven, detached from the football team part-time employees who together operated a flawed system that has failed the requirements of the football team they were employed to serve. That is where the wasted opportunity rests, big time. And then he sacked him. I am of course talking about Sam Allardyce which your comments could well describe for a short while under Big Sam until the poor results. I mention Big Sam because structures and plans are not as important as the manager who is and always will be or should be the driving force behind any club and not this multi-layered management structure (or new age set-up brought in by Big Sam when he was appointed), as we are painfully finding out now. Thus far this "professional approach" is responsible for the following: The ST fiasco The manager resigning The lack of extra quality in the side The lack of depth to the squad The overwhelming media storm following the club The unrest of fans The drop in attendances This approach you talk of will also add the likely event of one Michael Owen leaving before his contract is up at a huge financial loss to the club and another few years of transition under new owners to their list of mistakes, failures and downright mismanagement. But hey, at least that debt is now gone though eh... Those comments are opportunistic and shallow tbh. Ashley always said Allardyce wasn't his choice of manager but he was prepared to give him a chance and he did by backing him with his shit choices in signings.
  10. Crumpy Gunt seems to have a similar approach but I'm not really too sure if it's too far from what they're really thinking in any case. Personally I don't like either attitude towards Keegan, whether it's belittling his past service to this club (which is massive and unrivalled) or believing he is infallible or incapable of putting himself first before the club. It's perfectly possible, of course, to give due credit to what he did for the club in the past, whilst acknowledging his faults at the same time. He was the right man for the job in 1992, and the wrong man in 2008. It's not necessarily the case that he's the wrong man for 2008 as long as he sticks to his strengths, which are motivation and first team leadership. Buying and selling players needs to be done within the club's budget and that's never really been Keegan's forte unless he is allowed to spend pretty generously. Someone's obviously moved the goalposts somewhere here and I don't think either party is blameless for that.

  12. Perhaps you could post an example of someone "taking it as gospel". Do you really need me to point out an example? Yep, I'm challenging you to prove your point, which should be easy to do if it's true. That's it? So the article is therefore "taken as gospel"? The article is an article it doesn't prove anything or disprove anything. Most people will probably be aware that Keegan has hired a lawyer and so has the club to thrash out any compensation due. It's hardly ground-breaking news in any case.
  13. ? Looks a fair wage for a manager in relation to what players earn nowadays. It's more than fair considering he hasn't even completed one year before walking out. Que? He wants paying for 3 and a half years despite being here for only 8 months? What has this to do with my point that paying a manager 50,000 pound a week looks like a fair wage in comparison to player's wages? Whether you are a player or a manager you are usually expected to turn up for work if you want to get paid. Still what relevance does this have to O-Nut's reservation of giving a manager a contract of 50k a week and my opinion that this looks like a fair wage these days. Wether Keegan is entitled to a full compensation after resigning/forced to resign has nothing to do with the question about the original terms being sensible. I'm quite ok with the original terms though and never said otherwise. For me that isn't the issue as I've explained already. Err, ok. So your post had nothing to do with my point and you were just quoting totally out of context. You were just desperate to post another snidey remark against Keegan. Fine. Tooj is right. How is it totally out of context? Because it had nothing to do with what I said, i.e. the post you quoted. Anyway, others are free to decide who looks like a dullard here. Bye. They are also free to decide who is an obstinate pedantic, fussing over the exact nature of who said what and when and avoiding the point being made entirely.
  14. If he is suing Mike Ashley personally then good luck to him, I'm not concerned in the slightest if Ashley gets taken to the cleaners. I won't however back Keegan against the club unless he has a cast iron case...which I hope he doesn't. I'd rather that money was re-invested in the team by the new owners.

If it's being reported in the London Standard are we supposed to know something they don't which would make us dismiss it as false? Personally I don't like the idea that Keegan would sue my club for money unless he's been sacked unfairly. At the moment I'm not convinced he has.

  20. I love how you assume you know what other people think. The 2 posts I quoted specifically complained about NUSC being "dedicated to getting Ashley out" and being a "small Ashley out pressure group". I merely suggested forming a counter group to get their views across. This would obviously be a popular group as "most fans do NOT think Ashley was killing the club" so would naturally want him to stay, and surely some would feel strongly enough about it to plan some pro-Ashley action knowing how easily swayed he is by popular opinion. Either you want Ashley to go, or you want him to stay. If you want him to go, then why should protests and action stop until he's gone, and if you want him to stay why don't people get of their arses and do something about it instead of crying onto their keyboards. That's rich coming from someone who spent all his time last season telling us we were going to be relegated and is carrying on in the same vein now. Who's put the club in the hands of an agent to facilitate the sale, Ashley or you tapping away on your keyboard? Who's actually managed to get an interim manager in to try and keep us afloat after KK's walkout? Ashley or you tapping away on your keyboard? If it's all so easy why don't you leave your keyboard and go find a mega billionaire owner and demand he set aside funds for the manager of your choice? Or do you think it's all just going to happen by magic?
  21. You were asked to back up your claims, which you never did. Which I will not do on an internet message board. If it's not true I'd like to see him suing this newspaper for making false allegations which don't exactly paint him in a good light. I don't see why hostile legal action should be considered against his beloved club only.
  22. He's probably claiming 'constructive dismissal' rather than unfair - meaning that he was left with no option but to resign. He was 'forced out'... That's what I thought, would make more sense. If this story is genuine and true in the first place. Yeah, don't know the details of what defence the club would be likely to go with on that - probably that (as their statement said) they did everything they could to resolve matters and help Keegan to stay on. Might be difficult for Keegan if the agreement that he would have 'full control' was decided in chats with Ashley and Mort rather than written in his contract. If it was written in his contract the club deserve whatever is coming to them I suppose. Hasn't it been mentioned that Keegan's legal team will use quotes from the matchday programme to back his case that he had full control of signings in or out? I've a feeling the contract will back up Ashley's view if Keegan's using quotes from a programme to build his case. Doubt he'll get what he's looking for, but it might be he's just trying to get off with not paying the club £2m for doing a runner.
  23. How would this (if true) affect any hopes he/the prospective new owners have of him returning as manager? Well they'll have to give him the job I would think, therefore the claim would become redundant. If they appoint somebody else, then the £9m will come out of the Newcastle Utd coffers which would probably mean £9m less to spend on new players. Not that I think he'll win his claim. He can't exactly ask for payment of a 3 year contract while he's playing golf and Joe Kinnear is doing his work for him.
  24. He's got 12m out of Villa for Milner though, although his negotiation skills only involved the word 'no' (probably knowing about a fuming manager behind his back) and a desperate buyer raising the price to a ridiculous price... Aye, we look reet bunch of smug bastards with that deal there is Milner being a squad player with the current 5th best club in the county, while we are are sitting at 18th. That Martin O'Neil is clueless & Tony has run rings around him here like. You're right, if we had him on our bench it would make all the difference.
