  1. I love how you assume you know what other people think. The 2 posts I quoted specifically complained about NUSC being "dedicated to getting Ashley out" and being a "small Ashley out pressure group". I merely suggested forming a counter group to get their views across. This would obviously be a popular group as "most fans do NOT think Ashley was killing the club" so would naturally want him to stay, and surely some would feel strongly enough about it to plan some pro-Ashley action knowing how easily swayed he is by popular opinion. Either you want Ashley to go, or you want him to stay. If you want him to go, then why should protests and action stop until he's gone, and if you want him to stay why don't people get of their arses and do something about it instead of crying onto their keyboards. That's rich coming from someone who spent all his time last season telling us we were going to be relegated and is carrying on in the same vein now. Who's put the club in the hands of an agent to facilitate the sale, Ashley or you tapping away on your keyboard? Who's actually managed to get an interim manager in to try and keep us afloat after KK's walkout? Ashley or you tapping away on your keyboard? If it's all so easy why don't you leave your keyboard and go find a mega billionaire owner and demand he set aside funds for the manager of your choice? Or do you think it's all just going to happen by magic?
  2. You were asked to back up your claims, which you never did. Which I will not do on an internet message board. If it's not true I'd like to see him suing this newspaper for making false allegations which don't exactly paint him in a good light. I don't see why hostile legal action should be considered against his beloved club only.
  3. He's probably claiming 'constructive dismissal' rather than unfair - meaning that he was left with no option but to resign. He was 'forced out'... That's what I thought, would make more sense. If this story is genuine and true in the first place. Yeah, don't know the details of what defence the club would be likely to go with on that - probably that (as their statement said) they did everything they could to resolve matters and help Keegan to stay on. Might be difficult for Keegan if the agreement that he would have 'full control' was decided in chats with Ashley and Mort rather than written in his contract. If it was written in his contract the club deserve whatever is coming to them I suppose. Hasn't it been mentioned that Keegan's legal team will use quotes from the matchday programme to back his case that he had full control of signings in or out? I've a feeling the contract will back up Ashley's view if Keegan's using quotes from a programme to build his case. Doubt he'll get what he's looking for, but it might be he's just trying to get off with not paying the club £2m for doing a runner.
  4. How would this (if true) affect any hopes he/the prospective new owners have of him returning as manager? Well they'll have to give him the job I would think, therefore the claim would become redundant. If they appoint somebody else, then the £9m will come out of the Newcastle Utd coffers which would probably mean £9m less to spend on new players. Not that I think he'll win his claim. He can't exactly ask for payment of a 3 year contract while he's playing golf and Joe Kinnear is doing his work for him.
  5. He's got 12m out of Villa for Milner though, although his negotiation skills only involved the word 'no' (probably knowing about a fuming manager behind his back) and a desperate buyer raising the price to a ridiculous price... Aye, we look reet bunch of smug bastards with that deal there is Milner being a squad player with the current 5th best club in the county, while we are are sitting at 18th. That Martin O'Neil is clueless & Tony has run rings around him here like. You're right, if we had him on our bench it would make all the difference.
  6. Do you seriously think Shearer has no affection or feeling whatsoever for the club? The sly digs aimed at KK and now Shearer are bang out of order and seem an increasing thing on here these days which I find pathetic to tell you the truth. I know some Liverpool fans who hold Graeme Souness in higher esteem than some of our own lot hold Shearer in and now even KK. I love how Shearer mustn't really love the club all of a sudden because he's not the manager. But Big Joe, what a man eh. We get accused of being a right set of fickle bastards and when you read comments like yours it isn't hard to see why. Shearer - the club's greatest ever goalscorer who gave the club 10 fantastic years of service saving us time and time again or taking us to the heights time and time again is viewed upon with ever more suspicion and cynicism where now people even question his love of the club. In the meantime, Big Joe eh. What a man, he must really love the club to take this job on.... unlike that bastard Shearer bloke on the telly who calls himself a Geordie. Get some fucking perspective will you and all those casting doubt on the characters of Newcastle United legends. Get some fucking perspective yourself and stop twisting what I said into something else entirely. Why you are quoting something I said three weeks ago I have no idea, but in any case what I said is my opinion. I don't think Shearer would have taken the job because he openly criticised the set up. He turned down the chance to work with Keegan before that. What makes you think anything's changed since then? As for Joe, yes I am happy he wanted the job badly enough to do it and publicly welcome the opportunity. At the moment he's doing more for Newcastle than Shearer, Lawrenson, Hansen or any other MOTD tv pundit. If and when Shearer answers the call of his club, his city, then he'll get the support which Joe will get now. Till then I'm not interested to be honest. you have to look at the bigger picture. Some people insist on wanting a club run in a certain way, so they won't take it. Why should Shearer take the job - or Keegan stay in the job - if they feel that the setup is going to hinder them ? Full marks to Kinnear for taking it on - no quibble there, in fact he's always been a tough little bugger with a good personality and so I have a feeling he could do rather better than some people think while he is here - but don't condemn Keegan and Shearer. Shearer may not ever want to be a manager, especially now he's got his foot into a cosy little number with the BBC. If thats the case then its his decision but he doesn't deserve your scorn for it ? It wouldn't be mine, but thats life. Because he's always made out it was his dream job yet kept turning it down. He turned down Freddie..he turned down Keegan. Obviously he's turned down smaller clubs along the road as well like Southampton. The only job he hasn't turned down is MOTD tv pundit. Obviously easy money because he's useless at that as well. yes, that is what you clipped.....but plenty of other NUFC players [and icons] haven't been managers ? Why scorn him for it ? If he doesn't want to be a manager, and having turned down a ready made established club ie Blackburn it looks possible, then why not just remember him as an icon who now holds the club goalscoring record ? If he doesn't want to be Newcastle manager he should really be more clear about it rather than keeping everybody guessing. If you go back to the original post which was only part quoted you'll see that the reason Shearer was even brought into this thread was because Don Hutchinson said it was the ideal time for him to take up the reigns which is when I said I didn't think he'd want the job. As far as icons go, I don't have a problem with him being a Newcastle icon. It's just I don't particularly share the view he was that great in his time here. There aren't many players I've dreaded losing, the only ones that come to mind are Gazza, Waddle and Beardsley when he went to Liverpool.
  7. Sounds like fantastic news to me. New owners with links to the fans are buying the club, Keegan or Shearer must surely be managers in waiting with plenty of money to spend in the transfer market. If NUSC can pull this off I will definitley hold my hands up in shame that I was sceptical this could ever be achieved.

  9. I think he'd be disqualified for never entering the box. Haha !! He'll enter a box at the end of his days showing a similar amount of life I suspect.
  10. FFS just tell the truth. How can we believe anything they say when they contradict each other every week. Why isn't it attractive? The selling price is all the buyer has to pay, they can choose their own manager and basically take the club any direction they want.
  11. http://www.4thegame.com/media/00/04/07/alan_smith.jpg Bent doesn't even come close
  12. What I meant was that theres been so much BS surrounding all of this, theres no good reason why I should implicitly believe or trust Harris because of some notion of him being a reputable man. He works for an investment company - I wouldn't automatically trust such a person if they told me 2+2 =4. He may be telling the truth but even last week Kinnear said that he'd been told Ashley was talking to people. You seem to know a lot about investment and finance. Why not get the NUSC to contact some well-placed people who can put their services forward instead of Seymour Pierce? Or even some trusted analysts who can confirm your suspicions?
  13. I think there was genuine interest but the economic uncertainty at the moment has meant no one is willing to pay premium price for Newcastle, and it looks like Ashley doesn't want to drop his price enough to get the deal done.

So why even bring his name into it if you're not interested and why the suspiciousness regarding his love of the club? Did I bring his name into this thread or was I answering someone else? I really can't remember seeing as it was three weeks ago.
  15. Hard to judge Xisco coming straight into a club in crisis and a team lacking confidence. If he's eased back in once we get a couple of results on board I think it'll give a better picture of what he can do.

  17. Or letting players slip through the net, that'll be handy then if he goes to Spurs. Shouldn't Spurs have already signed these players on a nudge and a wink to prove that theory then?
  18. Spot on. He did put the club for sale ASAP & is looking for a quick sale but not a fire sale. He couldn't walk away could he but Mort left, Steve Hayward left & now TJ has left. All his top brass is bailed out, Lambrini will be sit tight until the sale is done. So you approve that he is selling the club and Lambrini is still there to make sure the sale goes through ok? Nice one.
  19. I'm sorry HTT but I'm not having that. You have got to be taking the piss in all honesty. The only person who has actually got on with keeping the club alive is Ashley. He didn't walk away like Keegan and put in a compensation claim while the club burned. He didn't leave Hughton floundering in the storm while trying to sell the club, he tried to get Venables and when that fell through still managed to bring in a manager to work on a short term contract. Kinnear might have caused a few sneers but at least Ashley provided a solution rather than carp from the sidelines which is all the NUSC are capable of so far. All belatedly forced on him by his own inaction to start with. By showing no support or confidence in his manager or to intervene he has effectively allowed this all to happen so pardon me when I don't thank him for appointing an interim manager, a decision that was only brought about because of some players kicking off anyway. If the players were "kicking off" at least most of them now seem happy he has provided a solution rather than whinge and moan like people who think they know better but in fact can't even get simple statement of intent out without looking like a complete bunch of dimwits.

  21. Are you ITK. What did he do? How many times do people have to be told this? Jimenez was the negotiator, and Vetere is the scout. All was made pretty clear by the job titles and their respective CVs where Vetere was a scout for Real Madrid, and Jimenez was a freelance superagent. So the article was bunkum. He didn't fly around the world sourcing talent, none of that shit. He was simply the negotiator. I thinks you need to write some strongly worded letters to the editors then. I think James is probably right though. Vetere's expertise was always described from the start as mainly being scouting, while Jiminez was the dealmaker. I don't know if there was some overlap, but it's probably just lazy journalism.
  22. Just making sure that what you have said there is (even more) clear
  23. I see there are quite a few anti-Ashley posters on other boards starting to admit they are relieved we should be ok during the financial meltdown because Ashley used his own cash to clear the debt leaving in us a fairly healthy position compared to the likes of Man U even. The OP might need to be re-considered in light of this fact
  24. The yanks have been in about 18 months, so they havent backed him with 80 million, infact they havent spent a penny of there own money, they have borrowed money, and are trying to re morgage that loan, meaning each season we have to make 30 million, before we have payed the annual intrest on the loans off. So as I suspected, the Liverpool fans don't like the fact that the club has been put into debt to finance squad strengthening. I wonder how our fans feel about the Liverpool fans attitude, seeing as many have criticised Ashley for not putting us into debt to finance big spending on proven quality players as we did under the previous board? The thing is its main debt die to them buying the club, imagine if some south africans bought Newcastle for 300 million, with a loan, which they secured against Newcastle. And then said oh by the way we have no money. It could still happen although not likely due to the current financial climate.
