    Gerry Francis

Because we have Richard Money pinging around 3 different teams. Robbie Elliott is coaching instead of doing his normal gig. Thommo is covering 2 teams. It puzzles me that Dennis & Jeff who have both coached in the past are not helping out on the training ground. But we already have a first team coach in Chris Hughton. Is Francis coming in as a coach or no 2?

Sounds like a load of bollocks to me. If we are only treading water until the club is sold, why would we be making any unnescessary appointments like this? Nothing against Gerry Francis btw, I'm sure he's a very good coach.
  3. Everyone seems to be missing the point that JFK is here for only two months. Long term his explosive methods would be ill-advised, but in a desperate situation to turn things round as quickly as possible it could be a master stroke. We'll see over the next few games. I think it is worse because he is on a short term deal. No-one, be it the players, the fans, and the press have no motivation to respond positively to a shouter. The players weren't exactly responding to quiet and nice Chris Hughton were they? Who says anything about being quiet? It is possible to be passionate and motivational without fighting the players. Remember what happenned to Sir Bobby, players undermining him over minor constructive criticisms because he was leaving the next summer. They'll take one look at Kinnear if he starts mouthing off at them like he did the press and think: "I'll be here after you've gone" I don't think the fans will put up with that attitude from the players and I can't see any player staying in the team if they don't stand up to be counted.

If he's still here in January then I will agree with every word. At the moment I'm taking it at face value that he'll be here for an interim period only. On that basis he has my full backing to blast the press, light a fire under the arses of previously disinterested players and get some fucking results. Won't work. The length of his contract will see to that. The length of the contract is unavoidable because the club is in the process of being sold. If the players can't be arsed because of that then fuck them tbh, it's a disgraceful attitude.

The players were never under attack from the media, the only thing affecting them right now is the hurricane in the goldfish bowl that was being caused by other parties, ie the board and the management. Kinnear has huffed and puffed and made the hurricane much worse. In fact, here is the most severe criticism of the players this week: Definitely one way to go about splitting the dressing room there in my opinion. How much evidence was there of any spirit in that dressing room before Kinnear got here? Have you watched the last few matches under Hughton?

  9. Simon Clifford was on tv saying he was going to be the...Director of Football and he would be in charge of...youth development. Hmm. Now where have we heard that before?

"Balls" or "desperation"? I'd argue the latter. In fact, I'd actually argue that in the football world there would have been others prepared to take on the role ... but of course we were in a mad hurry to appoint someone who couldn't even sit on the touchline for his first two games in charge. Like who? David O Leary is the only one who comes to mind and he's a prick. This argument that it's unprofessional or unbecoming is missing the point. We are a laughing stock anyway. We are a shit team playing losing football. If JFK manages to get these players performing well enough to get us a few points I honestly don't care what everyone else thinks. Simon Bird and his press friends can all fuck off. Right off. Yes, and then JK will be fucking off back into obscurity where he came from before too long too. Let's just see what he can do with the players on the pitch rather than the journalists in the press room eh? Cos he's going to look mightily foolish if we don't improve. It won't take much to improve will it? It's not like were pulling up any trees before Kinnear came along and uttered a few profanities. Just been watching Setanta News and even Wenger's backing him

  12. I don't disagree with this. I have been critical of Keegan's alleged transfer targets and unwillingness to co-operate within the structure of the club's blueprint, but it can be argued both ways. Keegan is a decent manager though, well respected by his players and should be welcomed back if he does come back. I only hope that the new owners will give him the backing that he needs to keep him happy, otherwise he will get itchy feet again.
  13. Maybe he's Keegan in real life, not tjust the avatar?

You're missing his basic point, which that they're on his back writing s**** about him before he's even got going. I'm just saying I think it comes across as childish, personally. I'd much prefer him to sit there and fire the players up in a positive manner, rather than hurling abuse at a bunch of journalists. That's just my opinion. I don't think for a second that the players will think this is positive. The majority (especially senior players) will think he comes across as a bit of a joke. But it was a press conference, not a training session. You're actually saying the same as the hacks: "Why is he doing this when he should be doing that?" I'm not saying the same as the hacks at all. I'm just saying I don't think the players will be fired up by this, as some are saying. I think it may well work the opposite way (if it doesn't and we win on Sunday, I'll happily hold my hands up and say I was wrong) but I just think he sounds like a smaller man for it. They hardly looked fired up before it did they? So what has Joe got to lose by this? Fuck all in fact.

I don't care what the rest of the country thinks. The siege mentality will be good for the players and the club. We need to band together and grind out some results. At the end of the day, it is "us" v "them" and the sooner the fans and players get their heads around this the better in my opinion. Where has meekly toeing the line got us with Chris Hughton? After listening to Joe's fiery rant I'm itching to pull my boots on if the players don't want to do it.
  16. So basically if Shepherd were still in charge we would of been fishing in the bosman market? With Allardyce as manager. and Kevin Nolan arriving to join star signing Alan Smith on 80 grand a week.
  17. I simply don't care. We've got far, far more important things to worry about. You go and be embarrassed by a few swear words, I'll be biting my teeth over our performances on the pitch and over who will take over ownership of the club. Exactly. My only concern is how it affects the players, and I expect them to come out all guns blazing on Sunday if they've got anything about them. The nice and polite approach didn't get much for Chris Hughton did it.
  18. there was rumour a couple of years back that a prem league forward insisted on a clause in his contract that all win and goal bonuses go to a specific childrens charity. Alan Smith?
  19. They're probably loving it tbh. Apart from Simon Bird that is. He must be feeling a bit of a twat.
  20. But why would he want to pursue the claim if the club under new owners were looking to re-instate him? it's hardly an encouraging sign from their point of view is it?
  21. If Keegan makes this £8m claim an issue I don't think any future investors are going to view it very favourably. These guys are supposedly looking to employ him, not get involved in an unpopular legal battle.

fully agree Cat But at the moment i think it matches the mood of the fans. I dont particularly like a manger whose mouth makes even a foul mouthed git like me cringe but i just cant help but think, is this the right image we want for the club atm? I don't think it's as daft as it sounds. Kinnear has seen a dresing room full of white flag wavers and this is an attempt to create a siege mentality...a rallying cry of sorts. Joe's coming out swinging in the only way he can and if it gets his team up for it on Sunday he won't be worried about the niceties. Hmmm...when I was devising my signature this wasn't exactly what I had in mind

He's on a win win as nobody expects too much from him, I think he might surprise a few. Is he banned for Everton? Joking here, black and white army has a deliciously ironic edge. Having heard the interview JFK's black and white army seems more appropriate somehow
