Galatasaray obviously don't think that's likely otherwise they'd have done a deal by now. Besides, The Euros is likely to be played at a less frenetic pace than club football, maybe they think it will be a better stage for playmakers?

He's an England international with a chequered fitness record, that's why other clubs have been reluctant to take him off our hands previously. I still think they'll think long and hard before offering more than we are. Fair points. But when Real Madrid were willing to let him go Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal didn't need a striker at that time, Liverpool did but for obvious reasons didn't want to have to buy him back at much more than they'd let him go for. We did, so we gazumped them, offered him a kings wage and he took it. There was no-one else in for him as this transfer predates a lot of the recent take-overs and extra Sky money (not 100% on the Sky money, but think its only just been massively increased in the last season or two). He' played the last 6 months or so injury-free, played well, looked sharp and scored goals - if we don't pay the going rate someone else will. Well what is the going rate, bearing in mind his best performances have been in midfield? When played up front he's looked pedestrian, and I'm not sure which club out there is going to pay him any more than we will.

It's not bad reasoning on Galatasaray's part to wait for the Euros though. If he's any good, it's the perfect stage to advertise his talents to a wider audience, hopefully from their POV, bringing more potential bidders to the table.

I think this is probably not emphasised enough when people discuss Man U so we should all do our bit to put that right.

It depends on your viewpoint and how you want your side to play. I've liked Enrique from almost day one, because first and foremost he's a very strong defender. I would think his value will only rise as this becomes more widely recognised over the next couple of seasons. KK tends to view full backs more highly based on their ability to go forward and is maybe prepared to sacrifice a bit of defensive nous as a result. No doubt in my mind there will remain a strong interest from other clubs in Enrique, especially from Spain.

I know it sounds crazy, but how about a qualified coach for a coach?

I think we are developing a similar view of Spurs posters to be fair.

Does your mother have a tash? Flame war pending. Good job

I think people on this forum are mostly fans so youtube is not bad. If the club are willing to buy me flight tickets I could always watch these guys live and give a more professional assessment.

Geremi is past it, but when he's on the pitch he at least gets some assists and makes decisive contributions. Smith and Duff run around a lot with fuck-all end product. They're a waste of space even on the bench. They should be top of the list.

Fuck me...he looks good. He's left-footed as well - I think I'd rather we went after this guy. Who does he play for?
-
I don't think we paid a fee for him so I think it wouldn't be too difficult to move him on, assuming KK wants to.

While it's true Owen has a certain attraction value, I'm not sure it's worth an extra £40,000/wk. Does his reputation or shirt sales bring in that much every week? If it does then fair enough. Otherwise 80k sounds like a pretty decent wage to me.

You're right, it'll be about 13 million Euro's To be fair, I don't think there are a whole load of clubs who will spend more than £10m on an unproven player. He might look good in Turkey or even in the Euro, but then Viana looked great till he had to play in a much tougher environment. The Newcastle bid is a generous one for a player at that age. I'm not sure even if he has a great Euro tourney that the price will go up much more than that. Frequent viewer of the Sporting Lisbon reserves were you? We bought him on the back of some great performances for Portugal U-21's, doesn't quite have the same cut and thrust of the EPL does it?

I think he'll do ok with Blackburn tbh. Small provincial club, less pressure to play good football - it's probably Fat Sam's level.

Good. More chance of us going for a more mobile target man then, Crouch and Bent are two that come to mind. Crouch more mobile than Ashton?!!! That just rendered your statement null and void. Neither of them are quick but Crouch has got a bigger stride so that nicks it for me.
-
They'll be looking to bring other strikers in though. I don't think Ramos was too keen on Bent, though that might have changed.

He's still better than Geremi or Milner, but he isn't the answer either. A quality up and coming right-sided player should be a priority similar to Aaron Lennon, but one who can shoot.

According to that article the Gala owner is quoted as being prepared to let him leave for £13m so he is available at the right price. Can't see us paying close to that so it will probably drag on till after the Euros which depending on what sort of tournament he has might bring other clubs into the auction. Could be a frustrating wait.

they did when we were after silvestre Makes it easier to understand how Pearce didn't exactly want to stand in his way when we offered the pleb a lifeline.

Dealing with Barton's present misdemenours is bad enough, looks like the repercussions of his past are starting to bite as well.

I rate Jewell tbh Championship manager at best for me.
