Jon Dahl Tomasson is the best one. Great before AND after Newcastle. Didn't just die, but had a bloody resurrection.

Spain's fluid football today was as good as I've seen from an international team for a long time. All their players held the ball well under pressure, passed and moved intelligently, and the threat up front from Villa and Torres can be summed up best by pointing out Torres was the less dangerous. There might be a question mark about their defence but they were something else going forward.

Do you think that based on this one euro 2008 game or is it that you have seen him play alot and if you have please say why you think that because I have no idea on this guy. Looks to be quite tall and unlike Crouch, has some physical power as well. Decent looking shot - wouldn't be surprised to see him making a name for himself in the future. Aye, and his performances against England were top notch also. Do you know which club he plays for James?

You missed one of THE great Euro goals. Was a belter wasn't it. Pleased that Sweden have fucked them. Pretty disgusting performance from the Greeks tbh. Smacked of smugness, arrogance, and deludedness tbh; who do they think they are? Fluked their way to the last one and were not going to do it again, and i hate managers like Rehhagel. Hope they finish bottom. I was gutted they won it last time round, despite the fact it was generally considered a fairy tale for 'plucky little Greece'. If everybody played football like that the game would be finished. The only downside is that Sweden will probably go through to the next round, because they are not much better.

Truth. Austria look to be following this path to "glory" in this tournament. For the good of football let's hope the winners come from Spain, Holland, Portugal or dare I say it, Germany. At least these teams are chasing the game and giving us something to watch.

That policy has quite a lot to do with it IMO. Real Madrid had a similar policy of signing Galacticos with consideration of age and how they would actually play as a team a secondary consideration.

He's due a testimonial if enough people want to turn out to make it worthwhile. I wouldn't go because the only goalie who deserves a testimonial IMO is Steve Harper.

If you could be as objective about your hero Taylor that view might mean something. He's not my hero, i just don't go on like some jumped up prick about a young lad learning his trade in a tough league and in a dead environment. You do though. That's what I'm saying. But i don't though, i just find his harsh criticism mind numbingly boring. Has anyone offered close to £3m for Taylor yet on a wage package like Rozenhal's? Do tell... What? And why do you want to debate Taylor? Its not me who's obsessed which is the point I'm making. If my user name was 'Toon's Rozenha'l you might have a point. In fact....ok forget it. So you see that and then make up opinions. Well done. Yeah forgetting it would be a good idea, i don't personally want to even talk about Taylor, do you? No, because as you keep whining,he's just "a young lad learning his trade in a tough league and in a dead environment." Because people such as yourself keep having a go. Zip it and don't quote me to get me into a debate and i won't comment. I refuse to have anymore to do with this discussion as you clearly have some kind of problem and want to talk about Taylor when the thread isn't anything about him and no one else wants too. If you don't want to talk about Taylor then don't talk about him. No one asked you to pipe up in his defence.

He looked very lively, and left-footed as well. Italy have a pretty slow team. I think they are going out in the group stages.

I don't think Rafa Benitez gets enough criticism in England because his team is geared to cup football, and he's won cups. Liverpool get found out in the Premier where their safety first approach means they miss out on points against weaker teams. Romania will be hard to knock out of this tournament if they get through the group stages, similar to Greece last year.

Lies! This idea is copywrite Mort/Ashley. I'd also add that it's not good enough just to pick up any old bunch of "upcoming 20-23 yr olds" and say job done. There are scouts from teams from all over the world looking for these players, and to think we're going to spot a young player's talent without a bunch of other teams also noticing is naive. So we're either going to have to pay a decent amount for a select few of these players, or adopt a scatter gun approach and get in a lot of cheapies. Either approach is going to cut into the transfer and wage budgets though, and poor choices here could end up being just as costly as poor choices in more developed players. So buying the wrong up and coming youngsters could be costly you say? No shit Sherlock.

Even if 1 in 4 of the £2m-£4m range move up a level it pays for the whole strategy. Exactly. Also, even the less successful buys like Darren Ambrose were good value in that we got our money back.
-
If Arsenal are in for him he'll go there.
-
We had this strategy under SBR before he was deemed too senile to continue. It was quite successful as well for the most part but then we brought Souness into our club and the devastation begun.

Don't know anything about the player, but as a rule I am more impressed that we are targeting players who aren't 'names' because that indicates we are doing our homework. Shushy. I was going to compare with a time when perhaps we didn't do our homework but then the thread will be completely shagged so ...

Ditto that. Geremi's legs might have gone but he made us tick in some ways. -

We'll get our money back because I don't think he was as bad as he was made to look under Allardyce. To be fair, most of our defenders looked shell shocked due to the immense pressure they were under because of Sam's suicidal approach.
