Isn't that usually the case with most world cups? Only France in the Zidane years comes to mind that were fabulous from back to front. I can't remember a better world cup final in my time, Goals galore, two ATG's at their peak both scoring for fun, and such a great atmospere considering the hosts had barely any history of football. I imagine the 1970 final where Brazil scored 4 was maybe better.

It's not Francophobia for me, just think France have better players than they've shown. I have always liked a lot of their players individually, Giroud, Mbappe, Griezmann, Kante etc. Just thought that the best football they played was against Switzerland in the Euros 2020 but they went out in that game after being 3-1 up playing the best football of the tournament. Feels to me like Benzema and Pogba's absence has probably allowed Deschamp to indulge his defensive football wet dream.
