I used to hate watching Shearer as a pundit, but he's really blossomed over the last year or so, maybe something to do with Lineker's cheeky prodding. It's not just about us either, he was doing a great job in the box during the Arsenal game as well yesterday, full of enthusiasm and genuine insights.

His patchy fitness record will also count against him. Two pretty glaring drawbacks no matter how good a player he can look when he's on song.

Tbf, I've never seen him look slow, I think that rep came from a few disgruntled fans who thought he was going to Milan before he signed for us.

Saw him racing in to make a tackle, and he was pretty rapid. I didn't even realise it was him until I saw him get up and distribute the ball having won it.

He looked a handful for sure, just didn't see any end product in the few flashes we saw, but he didn't get a whole lot of game time, and wasn't really on the end of much. Very hard to base a judgement on that, but if he's got a good record of producing end product, then he will be a hell of a player.

Isn't that usually the case with most world cups? Only France in the Zidane years comes to mind that were fabulous from back to front. This France I didn't really like so much, they were a team of spoilers, I actually liked their football better in the Euros where they went out after leading 3-1 against Switzerland.
