I can't remember a better world cup final in my time, Goals galore, two ATG's at their peak both scoring for fun, and such a great atmospere considering the hosts had barely any history of football. I imagine the 1970 final where Brazil scored 4 was maybe better.

It's not Francophobia for me, just think France have better players than they've shown. I have always liked a lot of their players individually, Giroud, Mbappe, Griezmann, Kante etc. Just thought that the best football they played was against Switzerland in the Euros 2020 but they went out in that game after being 3-1 up playing the best football of the tournament. Feels to me like Benzema and Pogba's absence has probably allowed Deschamp to indulge his defensive football wet dream.

They can create something, they just can't finish it. Could be worse though, at least fucking Cheddira can't come off the bench.

Some of the Moroccan approach play is superb in parts, lovely control of the ball and nice through balls, just lack a cutting edge.

How? They aren't that much different to Argentina, one player who can win a game by himself in Mbappe, and a couple of other more measured threats in Griezmann and Giroud. Argentina have Messi and Alvarez. you could argue two of them are worth as much as the three of France's. I'd give France a very slight edge, but not by much. Assuming they get past Morocco.

I still think they have a better balance without Di Maria in the side. Just more compact, but still plenty of threat up front with Messi and Alvarez.
