The pressure to perform is only going to be intensified if he's playing just off the striker. If you're playing as a #10 you have to be heavily involved in how the team plays, while playing out wide you can afford to drift in and out of the game a bit more. Expect to see him back on the bench for Stoke. Not really too concerned by how poor he supposedly was against Blackburn though, if his next two or three starts are equally bad then it'll be something to worry about.
