It's actually a great time to do this, from their point of view. With us doing so well this season people aren't as likely to kick up a massive fuss about it, and they'll be able to point to our current league position as an indication that their long term vision for the club is a good one and that this is just part of it. Still, it's sad.

Duncan Ferguson was a really good player at his best. Aye, and so is Carroll. He's having a terrible run of it right now, but we shouldn't forget that at times last year he was absolutely unplayable. He'll get it together and start playing well again at some point I'd bet, but his "issues" will prevent him being a consistently quality player.
