Viduka may not be fully fit but should be able to give us 60 minutes, we can bring on Shola then. In favour of a 4-3-3 in general, but particularly this game. Bolton will be well up for it and a midfield 3 of Butt, Geremi and Smith will give us more than enough to stop us being bullied. Harper in for Given, if Shay is injured obviously.

Nowt wrong with the lads comment tbh. Luque does actually have a very good first touch. I tend to forget about Albert but the lad is right in what he says. From what I've seen of Luque, it's above above average but nothing special. His strength is his left foot, which is fantastic. Anyone who think his first touch is better than that of Viduka or Emre is daft in the brain, or blindly pro-Luque, though.

Generally I agree with most of what you say, but I can't believe this. Owen's first touch is very, very good. He tends to get the ball in and then move it along quickly to someone more likely to create something while spinning away and trying to get himself into a goalscoring position. Rarely loses the ball or has it bounce aimlessly off him as Oba does. Look at him when the ball comes to him in the box. He generally needs one touch to put it in a position where he can have a shot at goal, before defenders get anywhere near him. That he looks like he has a grenade at his feet in general play is moreso to do with the fact that he recognises what his own strengths are, and it isn't picking out incisive passes or running at multiple defenders. Get it to someone who can, rather than fanny about as Martins so often does before losing it.

The only brilliant cross in the entire game came from Geremi. Superlatives are fine but the stronger we become the more his failings will become apparent. Give over. The way he created a half yard of space then put the ball on the far post for Shola/Oba (can't remember who it was) for the header that led to Smith's disallowed goal was brilliant, fabulous cross. I share some of your concerns about Milner, but being so blatantly biased will not help you get your point across at all.

Agreed, it's why I was hoping we'd have Drago in. Obviously Drago is new as well, but at his age I'd imagine he'd be mentally better equipped to deal with it.
