Wiki: In 1993, The Football Association switched to persistent squad numbers, abandoning the mandatory use of 1–11 for the starting line-up. The first league event to feature this was the 1993 Football League Cup Final between Arsenal and Sheffield Wednesday,[citation needed] and it became standard in the FA Premier League the following season, along with names printed above the numbers. Squad numbers became optional in the three divisions of the Football League at the same time, but only 10 out of 70 clubs utilized them. One of those clubs, Brighton & Hove Albion, issued 25 players with squad numbers but reverted to traditional 1-11 numbering halfway through the season.[12]In the Premier League, Arsenal temporarily reverted to the old system halfway through that same season, but reverted to the new numbering system for the following campaign. Most European top leagues adopted the system during the 1990s. The Football League made squad numbers compulsory for the 1999-2000 season, and the Football Conference followed suit for the 2002-03 season.

Players didn't have a specific number assigned for the season back then, they just wore 1-11. The fact that this is an actual question makes me feel very old.

Then yours is the world, and everything that's in it. And, which is more, you'll be a man my son. Young love <3 Can't be long before you're officially Interpolic W

be class if we get stuffed
-
That number was so preposterous I assumed he just missed the "half" in half-dozen.
-
Love a good adds-to-9 number me. Although my preference lies with 72. And if you can sneak in a sly plus sign, you're a legend.
-
You notice it plenty when the ball is rolling away from you down the fucking hill.
-
Tiresome or not. I like it.
-
I hate this kid already. And anyone else who signs for us. They're all twats.
-
It is? Class. Be a dear and point me in the direction of the paedo thread

We don't need to replace Vlaar to change much - last season he was either injured or s****. We've brought in Richards and Gueye - who looked to me like a Delph replacement when he signed. We've still got a lot of signings to make, but our form under Sherwood was totally different to that under Lambert, and far more representative of the squad. Going back to Vlaar, though, it makes me laugh when I hear the media or fans of other clubs go on about how we'll miss him. Ask Villa fans, you'll get a different story. I always think you should take note of what a club's fans say about a player, a manager or their team because they will have watched them closer than any other club's fans or media pundits. The soundbites cleverly dropped into the media by a manager often form the media and therefore other fan's opinions. He was class for the Netherlands so people think he must be class for Villa too. But he has been unnoticable to me in the PL. Not sure if due to injury or mediocrity, but either way, I'm sure they'll survive without him.* *literally survive, not survive in the PL. I'm far from sure about that.

People need to stop pretending that anyone is loyal to their club. No matter what they say. And especially when it's just a kid you bought from another team who had no ties to your team in the first place. Words mean nothing, it's all just business to them, neverending gesturing to get the biggest payday.

Man City probably tried to give him a reasonable contract, so he whipped out the loyalty card and forced them to up their offer to something more astronomical.

Fergie played Cleverley, Anderson, Park and Giggs ahead of him. You played against Blackburn and Fergie played Rafael and Park as a midfield 2 ffs. There were ample opportunities for him to play matches and then Fergie instead brought Scholes out of retirement. He then went to Juve and walked straight into a better midfield than yours, won 3 straight titles, got to a CL final and will get a move to Madrid or Barca. I'm sure he regrets not being more 'patient' until Park and Anderson moved aside for him. Aye but fergie taught him a lesson innit #fergiesway #principles #legend #hairdryer #leftthemwithasquadfullofshite

3rd Dec 2010 lads and lasses.

It's a department store, it's not necessarily meant to have style. These places tend to be a nice range of more expensive merch, or shit piled everywhere for low prices. Debenhams manages to pull off 'shit piled everywhere', but isn't especially cheap.

it probably takes 40 years of supporting sunderland
-
Giggs has one too. This is a gross misuse of the Giggs meme.
-
They gave Delph an £8m release clause? Class.
-
Should be a laugh to see De Gea's commitment levels over the next year.

 I'm looking forward to next year when someone drops £65m on Ross Barkley. The place will implode.
