Curbishley isn't the manager I hoped for, nor do I think he's a good manager, but he's clearly better than Roeder. And sadly, we're getting to the state were we're not going to be able to attract anyone with any ounce of proper quality. Last season was a decent chance, as it was the season we signed Owen, and all the hype that came with that, but we blew it in appointing Roeder. I doubt it. Regardless of the CL win, they've been making progress on the Houllier era, and they were happy to settle with him for a few seasons.

I don't think it was a penalty, but I don't think it was a dive either. The player slid in at some rate, Gerrard DID avoid the tackle and that's what has knocked him off his feet. You can clearly see he stumbles, but he shouldn't have claimed for a penalty. Not every challenge has to result in a free-kick/penalty or a yellow for a dive.
